Hello and what brought me here

Nature's Spell

Hi everypony,

So I'm the father of two fans, my 7 year old daughter in particular , but even my Angry Birds obsessed 5 year old son is a big fan. I've always taken time to learn what my kids enjoy whether it's Disney Princesss or Thomas the Tank Engine (both sadly replaced by new interests.) Kids grow up too quick. :( But after watching several episodes with my kids and watching both season 1 and 2 marathon style over two days! Thanks YouTube (Don't tell my wife! :-) Reading forums and every voice actor panel video I've decided to dive into the brony world. This isn't my first dive into active fandom Back in my college days (late 90s) I was one of the original fanfic writes/ web master for a TV show called Silk Stalkings, which had a huge cult following after the lead actors both left: the fandom hated how they did so. Anyway I'm excited to be here. Thanks

Hello, Nature Spell!

It's cool that you have two youngin' who enjoy the show as well, it's always nice to have family members who are willing to watch MLP together; it's a great show for the whole family, after all!

Hope you enjoy your time on the forums.

Thomas the Tank Engine is still around? I thought it ended like ten years ago.

Whatever, anyway, welcome to the forums! If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

Thanks Rainbow Hash! It was my kids that got me into it, they don't realize it, but my daughter became obsessed with the songs in Magical Mystery Cure listening to them over and over and I guess I fell under Princess Celestia's spell too.

Thomas is very much around and Santa is still paying for the very expensive play sets he wanted so badly and suddenly decided he no longer wanted. Timing is everything. Thanks for the welcome.

Heh, not a problem, Nature. It took some people I knew to get me into the show as well, although that was a year ago. Gosh, time sure does fly...

Anyhow, it's always nice when a kid is obsessed with something and then they quickly lose their obsession. Kids can be so fickle; it seems so easy to buy them gifts, but they constantly change what they like so much that it quickly becomes a job of it's own!

Trying to manage and store all their toys is quite a challenge too. My daughter lots of pony plasets but now she wants the Mane 6 in plush. Edited by Nature Spell

Storage has been a problem for me in general as well. I find that it's sometimes easier to move the stuff that hasn't been touched in a while to another, bigger storage area. Do you have a spare closet/attic/basement that you could put some of the less played with toys in? I know that can save a lot of room in the long run, especially if it's toys that they refuse to let you give away.

I do move things around but a big part is gently convincing them to let things go. An on going problem! :-)

I thought that would be a problem you were having. I remember when I was a kid, the hardest part for me was when my parents pointed out that I didn't have a lot of room left and that I needed to get rid of some toys. Lemme tell ya, I wouldn't let them take away anything, even stuff I hadn't touched in months. I imagine it was quite the miniature war trying to wrestle my toys away from me.

Oh well, hopefully you can keep finding places to move the toys for now... or maybe you could sit down over a nice cup of tea and negotiate some toy-removal with your children?

I'm still sad my parents got rid of my GI Joe and tonka toys. :-) Thanks and nice chatting with you. Edited by Nature Spell
