Hello everyone!

Hey guys! Before a few days ago I wasn't particularly into MLP, every now and then when I was bored I would see an episode listed on youtube and I'd check it out, I had watched 1 or 2 episodes before and thought it was cute (I think it was Magic Duel and Sweet and Elite). The trend continued a few days ago when I saw the latest episode (13) on youtube and watched it. The beginning of it made me curious about what cutie marks were and I ended up watching The Cutie Mark Chronicles, after that I kept getting more and more interested.

 

For me the show was refreshing to watch because it is so innocent from a lot of shows people watch today that are full of perversity and endless cheap dirty jokes; maybe some of you could relate to that. I ended up going on a 2 night marathon of the entire show, and before the last 10 or so episodes I had fallen in love with the characters and all of the little intricacies you see in the show. Something that sticks in my mind the most is the hydra from the pickie sense episode, how one of the heads was just trying to go along with what the other heads where doing, I thought that was hilarious! The show is full of little things like that that you wouldn't notice if you wheren't paying close enough attention.

 

Another thing I thought was really cool was how they did the Grand Galloping Gala finale, not to mention that the episode was hilarious on it's own, it was awsome how they even remembered the Gala in the first place as well as the dresses that Rarity made for everyone from what is it? At least 15 episodes ago? I was thinking there's no way a little girl watching the show is going to remember specifics from that long ago, even I had pretty much forgotten about the Gala and I was watching the episodes one after another, let alone once a week!

 

I like all the characters but if I had to pick a favorite I'd have to say Rarity, another thing I'd like to mention is how the characters are done, usually characters are very one dimentional and stereotypical in kids shows, but in MLP there is more depth, for instance; fluttershy is characterized as being shy and timid, but she isn't always that way, it's not who she is. Same with the other characters, characters that share similar traits as Rarity usually tend to be shallow judgemental jerks (kinda like Diamond Tirara is), but she is almost never like that, it's cool to see traits such as Rarity's in a character that isn't a total jerk at the same time. Yes she's into fashon and cleanliness, but it's not who she is (she would be more judgemental if is was, and that was all she cared about). Also Rainbow Dash's character is more of a Tomboy and doesn't like girly things, but that's not what defines her entirely, she had no problem looking pretty in her dress at the Gala. The characters are just so anti-stereostypical, and because of that they feel very deep and realistic, compared to other kids shows.

MLP has become my favourite show in these months since I discovered it myself, on the tip of a friend. The animation style and stories are much better then most modern day cartoons and even shows in general. So I agree with you on many points..

Welcome, this is a nice and a friendly forum hopefully you will like it here.

 

I totally agree with you about how the show was refreshing from what we have today, although a lot of the things you mention have often been mention. The characters are really special as well is the continuity. The quality of the show is just amazing. But I wouldn't talk that way about Diamond Tiara, she is in my big favorite list, but I get your point. Rarity is a special character. I could write and write and probably make a whole essay on why Rarity is special, but this will have to do.
