Tell the story of whats going on in this picture. You are either one of the two humans here, or you have followed them. This is an archeological dig deep in a forgotten part of the world.

What do the hieroglyphics say? What does this site mean? What happens next?

You tell me. No need for a lengthy story. even a few sentences will suffice. Even just a caption.

serious. silly. whatever. be creative.

This is one you will need to click on. Enlarge and study...

The picture is huge, give it a moment or two, and watch the little pink pony do her stuff.

That picture is seriously epic... After some study so many things come to mind as to captions I kinda had a hard time coming up with something... so here's what I settled on:

After a long walk down the path, the two soldiers rested their tired eyes on an answer that plagued mankind for millennium. The answer to the brony's mysterious disappearance in 2014, was now a bigger question. How was this linked to MLP-FiM, and their disappearance? Why had Celestia buried this all through time? The men were soon to find their answer.

"So what do we got here, Jeff?"

"I don't know, Sarge. Whoever or whatever made this door, they knew their stuff. I can't find any unlock mechanism to open it from the outside. Whatever locked the door, it's still in there."

"Hmm..." The older of the two men rubbed his chin. "Scan the door once more. We should use the detonator as the last resort."

"Aye, sir."

Two men in black outfit paced in front of the ancient blast door, waving their equipments trying to find something. It had been almost a lifetime since the last time the drones returned from the dark space carrying a coordinate of a new dead civilization. Everyone back at the base was very excited on what kind of history or technology the civilization could left behind in the ruins. But unfortunately since there was no sun nearby, not even a moon, the Union had sent two of its best scouts to the planet before everyone else to see whether the planet was stable enough for a large scale exploration or not. So far the dead planet was proven to be stable, what left of its atmosphere had enough oxygen to be breathable, even if there was no natural source of light. Not even stars. The scouts had been exploring on what was presumed to be the capital's ruin without their helmets on. Towers of white marbles with golden trimming and various ransacked structure dotted the landscape. It didn't take them long to find a locked room that somehow emitted a tremendous amount of mana behind its locked door. It could only mean one thing, and it was their job to gain as much information about the civilization as possible.

A loud beep from the machine. Jeff grunted in exasperation. "Seems like we will have to take this baby down."

Sarge could only nod in agreement. It was not definitely the best way to open a ruin with an implosion device, but they had to make sure that there was no ancient devil or something that was sealed behind the door. If it was indeed an ancient devil sealed by the dying civilization, then the Union would rain down nukes on the planet so that it wouldn't spread. He sighed. "All right, you get the blue boy. I'll set up the red one."

With trained precision the two scouts prepared the implosion device. They took cover behind a particularly large pillar. "Fire in the hole!" Jeff shouted. With a terrible sucking sound, the blast door collapsed on itself, it's base was no more. A huge cloud of dust quickly rushed out from the previously locked room. "Holy damn!"

"Cover your nose, hand at your gun. We are going in," Sarge said. Jeff obliged. The two slowly walked to the room, to see what kind of secret the dead civilization could possibly lock behind the door. What they see when the dust cleared was not something they expected. Jeff couldn't hide his shock.

"Is that...?"

"Yes," Sarge replied. "The Pioneer plaque. Whoever made this found the plaque and it copied the pattern." He looked around them.

The plaque was somehow the least interesting thing in the room. It was a rectangular room with a high roof, a mysterious light bathed the entire room from the openings near the roof. They were standing on the middle of a dais that was surrounded by water. A running water, complete with still swimming fishes and lush green plants, when pretty much everything outside the room was already dead for at least a hundred centuries or so. Engraved to the walls was something that seemed to be a story, a genesis of the lost civilization. From the bottom to up it recounting a tale of good and evil, of treachery and redemption, and that of the glory and the fall. What made it all even more interesting that the hieroglyphs heavily featured some kind of equine. Sarge walked forward and knelled before the memorial, pushing the leaves aside. It was not a language he could understand, but he was sure that someone in the Union could decipher it. He pulled out his camera and took a couple of photographs of it.

"Uh... sir?" Jeff spoke, a hint of fear in his voice. "We have a company."

Sarge grunted. He stood up and turned around to face his junior. "What do you mean a company? There is no life signs on this planet but us-"

"Why, hello there, gentlemen." A feminine voice echoed from the darkness of the ruin outside the room. Heavy footsteps could be heard. "I believe you two owed me an explanation on why did you open my chamber without permission."

<insert the continuation here>
