Custom Album Artwork

Hello, I would very much appreciate it if we could select our own artwork for albums instead of defaulting to the single artwork for the first track of the album. If having a separate upload for it would be tricky, please let us select what track to use as the main album art at least pretty please.

I second this idea seriously. Some people like to compile already released singles into a whole album.

Improvements to albums, including cover art management, are planned and underway.

 

 

Centralized album cover management has come up before, and the main complication with that one as opposed to the other tags is that album covers are files, which don't fit very neatly into a relational database, and are currently coupled very closely to the track they're uploaded for. One thought is to make covers a logical entity in their own right, so you can upload an image once, then attach it freely to any album or track you want - not unlike the way Gravatar lets you attach one image to many email addresses. That would require fundamentally re-engineering the way Pony.fm handles covers, but it might be well worth it if it'll encourage more album uploads.
