Does anyone know what I should do to learn Tai Chi and Kung Fu?

I know it takes much time to learn each one, but in general how would I go about doing it?

Also, do they make up new moves for Kung Fu or Tai Chi constantly? It would be interesting to have a hobby like such where people can learn new moves every day. laugh.png

I think you might have the wrong idea.

While I have not studied either of those, I have studied Tae Kwon Do, Karate, and Hapkido.

It's not about the moves. It's about self-discipline and motivation.

Well, either way I still want to do them. I have been interested in them for quite a while. I still want to learn them a lot. I don't care, I just want to learn them.

Anyway, the easiest (and maybe only realistic?) way to learn any martial art is to find a school that teaches it. It's kinda tough finding a good one, tho.

Could I do it at home? Are there any websites that give instructions for it? I don't have the money to learn them at a school. sad.png I really want to learn them, but my limitations mock me.

In theory, it's possible. However, doing the stances/moves and doing them properly are two totally different things. The main purpose of seeking teaching is to learn the proper way to do things. Especially as a beginner, you're going to do just about everything wrong, and probably have no clue. You're gonna want to get it corrected as soon as possible. As my instructor used to say: "Practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect". If you do something wrong over and over, you're not going to do it right eventually, you're going to form a habit of doing it wrong.

Well, I guess that means I can't learn all these things. sad.png Time to find something to do with my life. I really wanted to learn them, but all well.

You want to be very careful about choosing a school when it comes to the Oriental martial arts, or really any martial arts for that matter...

I seriously doubt you can properly learn any martial art yourself by watching web videos...
