What if the crown wasn't stolen, but part of a test?

Wait... so Princess Celestia is a dirty thief now too? If the crown wasn't tossed into the human world, that means that it's not Celestia's and doesn't belong in the pony world at all. Meaning that essentially Twilight is being sent to steal a crown that she shouldn't be stealing. Sure, Sunset Shimmer isn't a good person, but that doesn't give the ponies the right to steal a crown from another Universe for no apparent reason-

Wait... perhaps this is part of the test for proving whether or not Twilight would make a good Princess! After all, one of the mane duties of Government is to steal from the people.

*Smiles coyly*

NO!!!  The crown was not stolen!  It was just placed in the human-world as part of a test to determine Twilight's ability as a leader!  Either that, or it had existed in the human-world since its inception, even though it also had magical powers!

God!  Here I am trying to create a logical reason why Twilight went into the mirror with nopony else but Spike, but every answer I create just leads to fanboys like you guys crapping out more questions!  Damn it!

Holy crap, does my head hurt!

Actually, you just confirmed exactly what I said... perhaps you didn't read it correctly. Anyway:

-If Celestia was the one who placed the crown in there, she's a real jerk. That's all I've got to say about that. I mean, this testing thing is getting ridiculous. We're talking about Celestia testing a pony who, with the help of her friends, has defeated multiple powerful enemies and saved Equestria multiple times, this testing thing is getting to the heights of hilarity. If anything, Twilight needs to be tested on actual leadership, not getting shoved into a mirror and hunting crowns. If Celestia really wanted to test whether or not Twilight is a leader, she could give her a test relating to that, although I personally believe Twilight has already done several successful leadership activities already.

-And like I just said in my other post that you just quoted, if the crown is native to the human world, then Twilight is stealing the crown. No bones about it. It does not belong to the ponies, so if she is going into another universe and taking it, she is stealing the crown.

*sigh*

Once again, Twilight Sparkle and The Crystal Heart Spell!  In that book, she took a test that proved her leadership skills, which in the process unlocked the Crystal Heart Spell of the title!  That, and Twilight still had more to learn about friendship and leadership!

Damn it, do I have to beat this into everyone's head 24/7?

PonyShep, you keep mentioning that book, but we keep telling you why this is still ridiculous. How many times is Celestia going to test her? Is this really going to be yet another set up from Celestia? I understand the need for tests, but if Sunset Shimmer ends up being Celestia's former student, then I don't blame her from running away, cause Celestia is crazy. You never know if a mission is just a test or it's serious business.

But on the subject of learning about friendship and leadership, perhaps Celestia could use some lessons too. I love her and all, but I don't think secretly planning tests behind pony's backs all the time is a good way to make and keep friends. It's kind of dishonest as well, and it's not really a good leadership style. I didn't even like the fact that the whole set up for "The Crystal Empire" episodes was Celestia testing Twilight, as if failing that test would've ended up good at all. Tests shouldn't be something that, if failed, threaten the lives of others. I hope that Celestia and Luna were on standby to whoop Sombra's tail if Twilight and her friends really did fail. If not... Celestia needs to plan these tests better.

Regardless, you didn't even answer my main issue with the crown being native to the human world: if it is not from the world of the ponies, that means the crown does not belong to them and Celestia is sending Twilight on a mission to steal an item from another universe.

Steal?  Or win at a prom while learning an important lesson on friendship?

Technically, Twilight isn't trying to steal the crown.  As implied by the trailer, Twilight might be entering the prom queen contest just to win the crown and return it to her original world, as part of the test!  And, to become prom queen, she needs tlearn as much as she can about friendship in the human world.

So she basically needs to relearn what she already learned then? Thinking about it now, though, I don't necessarily think it's all about friendship, if this is a test; it could be that Celestia wants to see how Twilight will act when she not only has to make new friends, but also has to survive in an unfamiliar place. After all, as a leader, she'd probably have to visit strange places with strange creatures she's never seen before, so it does seem fitting in this case. Then again, since all the ponies apparently have human counterparts, that wouldn't make sense either, since Twilight technically knows them and probably feels more comfortable around them anyway, even if they don't know who she is.

On the subject of the crown, I suppose winning it and taking it back to Equestria technically wouldn't be stealing in a sense, but it still feels like a random invasion into a human world, and it feels like Celestia is telling Twilight it's okay to interfere in the affairs of other universes.

Why she'd have to be sent to another universe to win a crown instead of being sent to the neighboring country to learn this lesson I have no idea, but this is Celestia we're talking about, and she's a Princess who will send you to defend an entire kingdom and call it "just a test".

In the end, my main problem with all this is not only that it might be another silly test from Celestia, but that the test really... just could've been handled a lot better if it is just a test. I mean, there are easier ways to teach Twilight these things rather than sending her into an entirely different universe with no way to escape, meaning if she failed she could be stuck there forever.

When you consider it, yeah, Princess Celestia and her intentions with Twilight don't make any sense.

But then again, neither is destroying your own humility to teach someone else about it, like Twilight and her friends when they dressed up as Mare Do Well to teach Rainbow about humility at the expense of their own.  Nor are Pinkie Pie's Pinkie senses, and how they can never be figured out, no matter what.

Seriously.  Like countless other fictional storylines and mythologies, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is not immune to plot-holes.  Writers can never get rid of plot-holes in a story without inadvertently creating more, which is why the only thing they can do is, at the very least, minimize the amount.

I'm glad we've finally come to agreement on this. Don't get me wrong, it might just be part of a test, but I still find that ridiculous and will make no bones about it, even if it does end up that way.

To be fair, I'm betting that Twilight and friends learned the way to teach lessons from Celestia, which is why they freaking dressed up as super heroes just to teach Rainbow Dash a lesson. In fact, I almost feel like that episode should've taught a dual lesson about Rainbow being humble AND about the others having jealousy issues. That would've been pretty cool, to be completely honest.
