Comparing My Pony Drawings

Hi. I'm not well known for drawing ponies or anything.. so don't expect anything mind blowingly amazing. Uh, I really wanted to improve from an old picture, so I'll show all my phases..

Super Old:

I think I've gotten pretty good, but eh.. dunno. I like hearing others opinions on it.. so.. what you think?

Wow, that's really good. I like the colors you used, and especially the dog or wolf with Twilight. The only thing you should do is make the outlining the same color as the pony, and make it smoother.

Haha yeah, thing is Photoshop Elements 9 isn't very smooth unless I use the Paintbrush, which makes it harder to color. 

I prefer the black lines, but thank you C:

Black lines are great to. Just keep doing what you are doing and you'll get better over time. All practice makes perfect, and don't give up.

You wouldn't happen to have drawn with a mouse would you? I understand you may not have tons of money to blow, but i would certainly suggest picking up a graphics tablet to use next time. It will help wih the lines due to the pressure sensistivity. They're good for starting out though!

I draw with a mouse. Why? My tablet broke two months after purchase... I mean, it works, but it connects and disconnects repeatedly. It's irritating.

Oh I was wondering, because your line-work hinted toward mouse drawing. Not that it's bad, because honestly, it is probably better than I could do without my tablet. I use a Bamboo Pen and Touch that I got earlier this year for around 60-80 USD I believe. Relatively cheap. I haven't had any issues with mine so far, but yeah I understand how that would get frustrating. Still, if you choose not to use a tablet, like Sir Flutter Hooves said, just keep practicing and you'll improve!

Haha, I didn't say I didn't like it. I just said it seemed apparent to be drawn by Mouse.

 

And wow, 270? And it broke? That's a lot! And Yes, Tablet drawing takes a lot of getting used to. You gotta really find a way to get it to work for you. I just recently figured out a way to get my linework to look like I wanted with it.

Well, I might be able to fix it so just hope. Yeah.. It was worth it when it was working though. C: yeah xD I think I'll stick to loose paper and mousepads until I feel like trying my tablet again.

Haha, Nice! I always sketch my things out on paper, and then get the picture onto my PC for drawing. I can't sketch with my tablet, yet. xD Well best of luck to you! ^ ^

if you use Photoshop (dont buy, download hahahahahaha moderately legally from iso hunt ) you can use a thing call stroke paths when using the paths tool if you make the shape of the pony use the stroke path it will automatically draw in the outline for you much easier than using a tablet in my personal opinion but more time consuming

 

there are video tutorials in you tube to help starting out with the Photoshop program
