"Heh, heheh..." Cinder giggled as she climbed out of the water, pointing at the two Mintys. "Heh. Doublemint."

 

Well so much for getting away from the group - but at least they had come of their own accord.

 

"Hey Silver, Lyona, 'Blaze... Look what we found!"

Lyona clapped politely to Silver's announcement. Hearing Cinder's voice, she looked back.

 

" What did you find?" Lyona looked over curiously to Cinder.

 

(The picture shows for me... Strange. It's basically Twilight in her glasses and holding a clipboard. With her hair in a bun.)

"M.. Mint.. He had seen a lot of things at sea: seen merponies and sirens, great sea beasts and distant lands, but never...

 

"Two Mintys? Wha...? He stalled.

 

It was a rare occurrence to be sure, but Captain Redwave of the Dawn Dreamer, was completely lost for words. To make matters worse, it was a situation he couldn't solve with his sword...

Silver enjoyed the sound of Cinders laughter. He'd forgotten what it sounded like. It made him smile inside. He'd lost his element of laughter, but maybe hers could help him find it again.

 

"Cinder" he cautioned. "Don't look into the water at your reflection or it will be double Cinder too! and we don't really need a double Cinder Boom happening!  We have to figure out which Minty is which.... they both look so adorable... I mean... the same!"

 

 

 He stalled.
 

 

((OOC LMAO! That was a good one. Now we just need one Minty, who I think went to sleep.))

Silver Note had to admit that he was enjoying seeing old Redwave looking so uncomfortable for a change. 

 

"You could always go on a double date" he chided as a sarcastic aside to the white stallion.

 

Silver Note almost felt like breaking into his old prance, but stopped himself, remembering he'd promised Lyona to be serious.

 

"They look a bit disorientated" he told Lyona, indicating the two dazed looking Minty's. "We may need for them to rest a bit before we drill them with further questions. Quite possibly it will take time for both of them to get over the shock of seeing each other."

 

((Was trying to ... STALL... Mwa ha ha.. gunna be a running gag now. At least until things are more.... STABLE! ))

Lyona pouted. She had liked doing the quiz thing, it was a long time since she had a reason to bring out her glasses. " Fine..." She sighed. The pegasus then looked into the Mirror Pool, wondering if the water had any healing properties, and if it was safe to drink.

No, he certainly couldn't solve this problem with his sword.

"Lyona! don't look in the water!" He rushed forward to pull her back and cover her eyes with his hooves.

A sudden epiphany hit Cinder.

 

"Lyona! Ma'am! Drink some of the water! She shouted happily - she was perfectly aware of the situation but simply didn't see the problem with it. "It healed Minty's hoof!"

 

She trotted up to the edge again, taking out her empty bottles.

 

"If I was going to speculate, which I am, the water probably can't make a copy of an imperfection which shouldn't be there: hence it's restorative properties which would allow for the copy to be an exact doppelgänger regardless of the condition of the host. I wonder if it will explode if I mix it with phosphor...?"

Silver Note gawked at Cinder... She was so smart.... in a different way than Derpy was. Gah You're such a feather brain... Silver thought to himself. You go after the wrong mares all the time, and a taken one... OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE SILVER!

 

But his mind was also buzzing.... If this water can't duplicate an imperfection that shouldn't be there... but it seemed to be healing it, then the REAL Minty would have a scar on her hoof, and maybe even on her wing where she'd injured it before.

 

He cautiously circled around the Mintys thinking deeply.

 

"Ur... GEE!" He said, shaking slightly to remove the ash in his mane from where he and Cinder had let off the smoke bomb. "I haven't picked out my hooves for days... anyone have a hoof pick I could borrow? Perhaps we should ALL do the same?"

She scooped up some of the water from the pool in a flask, looking at it cautiously. She drank some of it, only to cough it out. " Blergh. Disgusting!" She made a face.

"I.... I never thought you were ma'am" Silver said defensively, he grumpily retreated to a corner, waiting for the Minty's to come to their senses. 'Always putting your hoof in it aren't you" he chastised himself.

Silver glanced at Redwave who seemed to be addressing him civilly. He gave him an odd look 

 

 

 

"What? Don't give me that look, sweet Minty's well being comes before our petty strife." It was strange, talking at the Pegasus instead of shouting or snarling. "So can you? How do we detect the visage of the imposter?"

 

Trying to remember what Derpy had taught him, Silver bit his tongue and held the temporary truce between them. "For Minty's sake..." he thought. Silver wasn't ready to give away his theory to the red maned stallion. If he was wrong, he wasn't about to look a fool.

 

"I have no idea" He said. It wasn't really a lie, his theory could very well be false and there were no scars on either of them. "perhaps it's her personality we should test.... You two have been talking quite a bit. perhaps you know something that only one of the minty's would remember.?"

"I don't know, the dear mare is just so shy...

 

Why hadn't she opened up to him more? If only she had confided in him, perhaps this could have been evaded, but why did she retreat when he asked about her? Why hadn't he got closer to the sweet mare?

 

"I... I do not know what we should do. I only wish I could help her..."'

Hiding his biggest smirk ever... Silver Note tried and tried and TRIED to restrain himself... but... Silver couldn't resit the temptation any more! He burst into song.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Then on a more serious note he turned to Cinderblock, stepping up onto the box that Derpy had give him.

 

"Two Minty's... Sweet and innocent s they are, and as much as that seems like no harm... The real Minty deserves to leave her own carbon hoofprint on Equestria... one of a kind in the poniverse with no Imposters. She has the right to explore who she is and fill her own space. Hoof prints that only we as a unique individuals should be able to walk in."

 

Silver stepped down off the soap box.

 

 

 

"I... I do not know what we should do. I only wish I could help her..."'

 

Silver paced back and forth. There was one little secret that he DID know about the real Minty, but he'd promised her he'd never reveal it! he debated with himself what to do....

 

I can't break my promise to her... even tough this IS a life and death situation... or more like...  life and 'nother life situation... but still. I'd lose her respect and friendship forever If i openly said this.... No... I'll have to try and maintain the secret but still ask them.

 

"Let me handle this Reddie" Silver said to the bigger stallion. Then he trotted over to the two Minties.

 

"Please come with me you two." he said to the Minty's. He hoped beyond all hope that this would work.

 

He waited to see if the Minty's were still too dazed to follow him or not.

 

((OOC been kind of imaging that Redwave is bigger than Silver. my Quotes don't want to behave this evening..)))

"No, it wasn't just me. He does look a lot like Scribe."

 

Cinder thought to herself.

 

"So, Red..." She asked, turning to the almost humble looking pony. "Are you from Trottingham by any chance?"

 

The stallion turned, looking surprised to be addressed with the persistent pony.

 

'What is it with this mare and her constant questioning..?' He thought.

 

"Trottingham? I have taken it upon myself to visit, why?"

 

Cinder glanced around - perhaps she could find some answers.

 

"You just really, really remind me of somepony" The mare said. "You don't know a Scr..."

 

"Scribe Shield. You already asked. No, I don't. Red answered stiffly.

Lyona watched everypony else with an amused smile. She wanted to see how her soldiers would deal with the situation, by themselves. Although, she would help them if they called for her.

 

-They need to learn how to sort out situations themselves, just in case I go out again. Maybe permanently.- She coughed again.

"Really? You've never heard if him or anything?" The mare flicked her head, soaking wet mane whipping around out of her face sending droplets of water in all directions.

 

Redwave gave her an apologetic look and shrugged.

 

It was a very noncommittal gesture.

 

"My deepest regrets that I cannot assist, my lady."

 

She grinned, somewhat more maliciously than she ever had before.

 

"So how did you know his second name?" She said.

 

Redwave stalled again.

 

"How come you do that just like he does? And why do you look like him?" Cinder finished.

Since the two Minty's looked too stunned to follow, Silver opted to eaves drop on the conversation between Cinder and Redwave

 

I wonder why she's so concerned that he looks like this Scribe person, and why is he being so evasive. What's he hiding.

 

Silver sidled over to Lyona "What do you make of all this?" he asked quietly. "Oh, and please... don't think I thought you were an idiot... I guess I'm the idiot really. bit over protective of those I care about or something."

"Why is my life so complicated" he asked himself. He didn't realize til too late he'd said it out loud!

" Heh. You sound like that one song..." Lyona muttered, before walking back to the Mirror Pool. She looked at her reflection, which just looked... Tired. She slowly dipped her hoof in the water, relishing in the coolness.

 

" I'm going for a little dip." She called behind her shoulder, and dove in.

Silver was soaked by Lyona's spray.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

That's cold... Brrrrrrrrrrr .

 

Silver looked at himself in the water, trying hard not to say a word just in case.

 

I look a mess! he thought. " I look more like a dud than a stud and I'm expecing to attract the attention of mares?"

 

the knot in his mane had turned into a twisted dreadlock.

 

 

How am I ever going to get that out? he thought. he so wished he hadn't had to ditch his grooming gear. His forelock was disheaveled too and full of ash and buzzies, not to mention the bird cack from the blue jay he'd charmed.

 

Maybe I do need a bath, and brush... he put one hoof into the water and pulled it back immediately.

 

FREEZING!

 

He decided to try to get the dreadlock out with his hooves which was proving impossible.

 

*Sigh!*

" Come on, Silver! It's not that cold!" Lyona called before diving under and surfacing again. " You'll get used to it! And plus, you stink a bit." She stuck her tongue out and splashed him with the water. Her mane was dripping wet, and flat. She ruffled her hair to clean it.

Redwave was stuck: he didn't know what to say to the mare, who had proven infinitely more perceptive than he had given her credit for.

 

"Just, leave well enough alone Madame. It is if no importance, I beg you do not speak of this again."

 

Since meeting the stallion, Cinder had thought her team had been treating him unfairly. Now it was her turn to start getting frustrated.

 

"No!" She said, raising her voice. "You're going to tell me what you know about my friend!"

 

Red looked nervously around the cave.

 

"Okay, you win, my most vocal of ladies. But not here, not now. We shall speak of this later, when there are less ears hoping to catch a secret."

 

He saluted in a jaunty manner and walked away to lounge against the wall if the cave.
