Character Profile Guide

It is advised that you use the form bellow when creating your character's profile thread. You are more than welcome to use a single character profile for multiple roleplay threads. Please title your thread the name of your character.

If you are playing as a canon character, title your thread as the name of the character followed by your username in parentheses, as multiple members may want to play as the same canon characters. This marks the canon character as your version of that character.

Form:

Put an image of your character right here above the written form. You may either find someone else to draw your pony for you if you lack drawing skills, or use the Pony Creator.

Explanation of the Form:

  • Name: Pony names are generally meaningful and refer to the character's personality, physical appearance, or talents. They also sometimes can have puns in them. Please note that not all pony names have to be two words. Rarity is an example.
  • Age: Age for ponies is a difficult subject... I personally advise simply pretending that ponies age like humans and putting in numbers (such as Age: 19) to make things less confusing. It depends on what the thread maker prefers. Alternatively, you can go with general terms such as: Child, Teenager/Adolescent, Young Adult, Adult, Middle Aged, and Elderly.
  • Gender: This is simple. Female or male.
  • Species: For ponies, there are three (well, technically four) species: Earth Pony, Pegasus, and Unicorn. And then there are Alicorns. Scroll down for more information on this particular species. For non-ponies, simply put in the name of whatever species it is. For instance, if you are doing a non-pony-related roleplay that has humans, put "Human". If you are doing a pony-related roleplay, but playing as something like a dragon or griffin, put that in.
  • Appearance: Optional. If you don't have a picture of your character, you can choose to describe their appearance with words. You can also use a description of appearance to supplement your picture.
  • Cutie Mark: You can just put a picture here depending again on the thread maker's desires, although it is probably recommended that you describe the cutie mark and what special talent it represents. For ponies only.
  • Personality: Describe how your character acts.Behavior? Personality quirks?
  • Backstory: What happened to your character before the events of the roleplay.
  • Other: Anything else that isn't included in the form, put here. An example would include a list of roleplays your character is in.
Form Example- This is an example of the form when it is properly utilized. Click on it if you'd like to see the finished result, are drawing blanks, or are just generally curious.

Note: If you would like the form to turn out properly and for there to be few formatting mistakes, please don't add any extra code (such as colouring the text differently or centering it) onto it until you press the Preview Post button. Otherwise, your coding may turn out wonky and disorganized.

Race Tips:

  • Earth Pony: Earth ponies are typically considered to be the most boring, lacking the magic of a unicorn, and the wings of a pegasus. But an earth pony character has a lot of potential. Remember that earth ponies DO have magical traits, they are just more subtle. They have a special connection to nature that allows them to tend to the land and animals more effectively and grow food. At times, they are also considered to be physically stronger and more durable than the other ponies. Remember that earth ponies are very versatile, and don't have to be limited to farming or herding animals. Use your imagination!
  • Pegasus: Pegasus ponies have the ability to fly and walk on clouds. They usually have talents related to weather or flight, although a pegasus pony can other talents as well (as proven by Fluttershy).
  • Unicorn: Some people seem to believe that just because unicorns have magic, they are capable of doing absolutely anything, including usurping the flying talent of pegasi or the food-growing talent of earth ponies. This is simply not true. The only reason Twilight Sparkle has so many magical abilities is because her special talent is magic itself. Unicorns such as these should be rare, or you run the risk of becoming overpowered. Typically, unicorns are capable of using a limited amount of spells related to their special talent, and general telekinesis.
  • Alicorn: The most stigmatized race to make an OC. Alicorns possess the abilities of both pegasi and unicorns and are rarely well-executed. They easily run the risk of becoming overpowered, and some thread makers may not allow them at all. Tread carefully.
