Roleplay Character Development

So I'm not sure of where I'm supposed to put this really, because it isn't really a role play but it focuses on role play characters.

 

I know some times you make a character, but you don't really know flesh them our or give them a personality. Sometimes you give them conflicting personalities, that when placed in a role play don't really work out. Or sometimes you want to make them special, but you make them too special and some people don't want that type of character in their role play.

 

So I am here to help you (and myself!) develop a character using steps of character development. But before we start I want you to take this test; The Universal Mary Sue Litmus Test. And then I want you to be honest and post your results/score in your post.

 

This topic does not just cater to Mary Sues/Gary Stus but it's good to bring your Sues/Stus here and flesh them out so they can get out of that frame of perfection.

I am going to use newest character, Lavender Pierce.

 

Lavender scored 16 on the quiz. So apparently I need to spice her up a bit, cause she's a little boring.

 

1) Where does your character live?

Lavender lives in Cloudsdale.

 

2) What is your characters' vice? (A vice is a weakness)

Her vice would be how rude she is to people, resulting in her having little to no real friends.

 

3) What does your character look like?

She's a light purple pegasi with a purple and red curled mane. (Like Rarity's but curled under the ear a bit). Her hooves are red and her eyes are pinkish like Rainbow Dash's.

 

4) What are you characters' likes and dislikes?

She doesn't like non pegasi, because she thinks pegasi are better. She also doesn't like leaving cloudsdale.

She likes giving pegasi stylish hair cuts and getting hooficures.

 

5) What is the relationship between your character and their parent(s)?

Lavender's parents let her do whatever she wants and give her whatever she wants. But after reflecting on their parenting, they decide to send her to summer camp in hopes of her making friends. So she's upset with them at the moment.

(The Summer Camp is on the surface, not in Cloudsdale).

6) How old is your character?

 

7) What is the name of your character?

Lavender Pierce.

 

8) Describe your character's childhood.

From the day she was born, Lavender was given the best toys and personal tutors, so she didn't have to go to public school. She was also given private flight lessons, so she's a decent flier.

 

9) (If they have one) What is your characters' occupation?

 

She is a stylist, who cuts the manes of pegasi she deems worthy.

 

10) How does your character deal with conflict?

 

She often just puts people down and makes snarky remarks.

She is a pegasus.

 

How and when did you character get their cutie mark? (If they have one)

 

She got her cutie mark when her mother had to attend a gala, but her regular stylist was running late. She offered to cut her mother's mane in a stylish hairdo, and her mom accepted. (She figured what else could go wrong?) But she was pleasantly surprised when her daughter made her mane (and tail) look spectacular, she was the envy of the gala.

 

After that, Lavender got her cutie mark and began her career as a stylist. (Well part-time because she was a pre-teen filly).

 

Does your character know any of the mane 6 or any other canon characters?

 

Nope.
