Stephan and Light looked over to Missy and smiled at her.

"Congratulations, Missy." Stephan said. "Your filly is more beautiful than either of us could've imagined." He then gently put his hoof on Glint's head. He thought that he was about to cry at the sight of her. "Welcome to the new Equestria, little one..." He said softly.

Starburst heard all that was happening. He was worried and tried to get out of his bed, but was re-assured when he heard that she was alive. "My sister......she's....." Starburst said, starting to cry a bit. ".....I have a sister." Starburst said, smiling.

 

Fire looked at her.

"She's everything I could have imagined." Fire said. "Hello, Glint. Alright everypony, I think we should let Missy get some rest." Fire was smiling from ear to ear. "You can all come back and see her tomorrow."

Missy nodded. "If you don't mind, I'd like Grand to stay." Missy said.

"Of course, come on everypony." Fire said, walking out of the room, leaving the girls to it.

Grand looked at the baby with happy eyes. "She's just the sweetest little filly ive ever seen" She said, looking at her coo. "You must feel like the luckiest pony in the world wight now Missy"

 

Caramel smiled. "Yeah, thats her alright. She sounds pretty adorable. I uh, dont want to be the bearer of bad news, but we have to tell your parents about that issue" She said

Stephan and Light walked outside with Fire and the others. He felt quite happy for Missy. He was also relieved that Glint was alive. He had no idea how Moon Beam did it, but she did.

"Fire, I need to ask you something." Stephan said to him. "I've never really considered myself a part of your family. It's kind of been hanging over my head, so I need to ask you... am I?"

"Of course you are, you've always been a part of our family...." Fire said. "...Uncle....Stephan." Fire smirked.

 

"You have no idea, here if you want to hold her that is." Missy said. "Be careful with her, though."

 

"No, I'm not going to tell them, at least not right now, if it becomes worse, then I'll tell them, but.....just let my mum and dad have this.....please." Starburst said.

Grand smiled and gently took Glint from Missy. "Well, hello there darling, I'm your auntie Grand, its lovely to meet you. Youre quite the pretty little filly arent you?" She said warmly, snuggling the filly happily. "Oh, shes such a dear" She said, but her mind couldnt help to wander to wanting her own little baby

 

Caramel sighed. "I just dont want you risking your health. If it gets worse, maybe itll be too late then. You have to tell them tomorrow"

Missy was captivated by her daughter, she was perfect, beautiful in every way, yet there was something wrong.

Missy put a hoof to her mouth.

"It's Starburst's birthday tomorrow!" Missy shouted quietly. "Oh  no, what are we going to do?"

Glint snuggled into Grand.

 

Starburst sighed.

"Whatever you say, Caramel, I just want to see my sister." Starburst said. "I don't want them finding out about this from anypony but me."

Grand smiled at the little baby snuggling into her. "Starbursts birthday tomorrow? Well I suppose we can get a party thrown together for him, I'll get pink- oh dear, I completely forgot about Pinkie!" She said suddenly. "My, this baby has uite the timing doesnt she"

 

Caramel sighed. "I wont say a word, but dont put it off too long. We dont know how long it takes for this to become serious"

Stephan smiled happily at Fire. He said before that the group was like a second family to him, but now he could safely say that they were his second family. A thought then entered his mind about Starburst.

"By the way, Fire, isn't your son's birthday tomorrow?" He asked.

"Right, we have to get on that plan right away." Fire said. "Follow me, there's not a moment to lose. We need to find Pinkie, we have to organise a party for tomorrow." Fire ran to Pinkie Pie out in the reception, they got up, very worried.

"Glint is fine, she's alive, that's what counts." Fire said. "Pinkie Pie, followe us, we've got a plan for you."

"Plan? What plan?" Pinkie asked.

 

"Oh no, Pinkie, we have to protect her." Missy said.

 

"Well, let's just wait until tomorrow." Starburst said. "No better time to tell people I'm probably going to die than on my birthday right?" Starburst's smile had faded and was now closed eyes and sadness.

Grand gave Misy back her baby. "I wont hog her, though I can tell already she's going to be spending alot of time with me" She said with a smile. "I'm sure Fire has Pinkie's issue under control

 

Caramel kissed him on the forehead. "I'm sorry, I didnt mean to say anything wrong, I just want you to be safe and healthy." She said, looking at him. "Do you want me to help you to go see your sister? I can go find a wheelchair or something"

"Fire, I think I know where you're going with this." Stephan said. "Light, give me your device." Light handed Stephan his tracking device. "Perhaps we could do two things at once. You see, that griffon is still out there, right? Well, we could use Starburst's party to lure him in, while at the same time, making it an extremely awesome time for Starburst."

"That would be....." Starburst started coughing. "....no, I can't risk the health of my little sister, I'll just have to wait until I'm well enough to see her."

 

"Good plan, Stephan." Fire said.

"Fire, can I talk to you?" Dash asked.

"Not the time, Dash, I'm busy." Fire said.

"But if you could just listen to me...." Dash began.

"what? Rainbow." Fire turned to Dash.

"I'm the fastest pegasus alive. I could find him, be in and out before he has a chance to say." Dash said. "IOhmygodi'mgoingtobemurderedatapartytomorrow." Dash smiled awkwardky.

"Fine, Stephan, go with dash and find our griffon friend, me and Pinkie will set up a party." Fire said. Pinkie and Fire ran off to Sugarcube Corner.

 

"Thank you, Grand. I can tell you're going to be a wonderful aunt." Missy said.

Caramel nodded. "Maybe you just need some sleep, tomorrow's a big day for the birthday boy" she said with a slight giggle, hopping off his bed and making her way back to hers

 

Grand smiled. "Do you need some rest? I'm sure you're exhausted, I can leave if you would like" she said softly, smiling warmly at the two of them

"No, I'd rather you stayed, having you with me, makes me feel more comfortable, since you're a medical pony, you can help me if something happens." Missy said. "But right now, I love her. She is my world, but we have to prepare for Starburst's birthday. I have to get out of here by tomorrow."

 

"Yeah, good id-" Starburst began coughing again, violently. He could barely breathe when he was done. "If you could, could you check on her, and tell my mum, she has to know."

Caramel looked at him worriedly. "Are you sure? You said you wanted to tell her yourself. You arent sounding too good though. Its your choice"

 

Grand nodded. "Alright, I'll stay then. What do you think Starburst would want for a present?" She asked, not sure what to get him

Stephan nodded and Light stayed behind with Fire and company. The two ponies then went on their search for this griffon.

"Alright, Dash, here's the plan." Stephan began. "We're gonna find this guy and do all that we can to bring him down. If he gets away, I'l throw Light's tracking device on him at the last second. Sound good?"

"I was thinking more of a stealth approach, but that works too, I guess..." Dash hesitated. "Just, be careful okay. Uhh. you know, because it would suck if you got hurt....because we're friends, yep, good friends."

 

"Yes, since I can't leave this bed, and won't be able to see my sister, you should tell her." Starburst said. "Just, be gentle about it."

 

"I don't know, I always took him to the Crystal Empire, but that's not possible right now." Missy said. "You can leave if you want, don't worry about me."

Grand shook her head. "No, if you want me to stay, I'll stay"

 

Suddenly there was a knock at the door and Caramel poked her head in. "Hi Missy, Starburst just wanted me to come see his new sister for him, since he's still not doing the greatest" She said, creeping her way in. She looked at the baby and smiled. "She's pretty cute, Starburst really wants to see her."

 

"Well, why can't he?" Grand asked curiously.

 

"Umm, thats sorta why I came in here. Missy, Starbursts not doing as well as we thought"

Missy's mouth opened in concern.

"What's wrong? Was it the smoke, please tell me he's going to be alright." Missy said worriedly. "I have enough on my plate to deal with already, tell me what it is." Missy gave Glint to Grand and looked towards Caramel.

 

Starburst lay back in his bed. He let out a sigh.

"Well, its um... Its lung cancer, but dont freak out! The doctor said they caught it early and its easily treatable, so he should be fine. We just wanted to let you know before it got any worse" She said as calm and mature as she could

 

Grand looked at her with concern. "Those doctors havent treated him already? Those imbeciles" She said frustrated

"A stealth approach might work out well, too." Stephan commented. "I've always been one for going up close to the target and kicking the stuff out of 'em, but if you have a plan on how we can take this guy out quietly and cleanly, I'm all ears." He said, waiting for Dash to explain.

"Well, griffons aren't that easy to find, they tend to stay hidden, especially Azrael, he's a slippery one." Dash said. "First, we find him, then we set up an ambush, we'll use Appeloosa as our spot, we'll have to either take Pinkie or Twilight with us."

 

Missy was about to freak the fuck out.

"Lung Cancer?" Missy asked in disbelief.  "How soon can they operate?"

 

A doctor walked in and took an x-ray of his lungs, then after a few minutes, it showed a small tumor on the lower right of his lung. It was easy enough to remove with surgery.

"We'll have to operate now." The doctor said. "We don't want the tumor to grow."

"Well, I dont know, they only told us earlier today. I would think pretty soon though" She said, trying to keep her calm. "But Its totally not a big deal, they have it under control"

 

Grand held Glint in her arms carefully. "Those surgeons should already be done, I think I have some doctors to talk to" She said angrily.

"Alright, but tell her that." Starburst sighed. "Tell her that.....never mind, she knows..."

The doctor put a mask over his face. He fell unconscious as he was taken for surgery.

 

"Well, let me know when he does....I need some rest, you're alright with taking care of Glint until then, right?" Missy asked.
