"Yes, that's a good idea, this is a book shop, they probably have something like a coffee shop." Missy said, "I've been managing with school work, marking homework and stuff, but the thing I've noticed is, not a lot of children have such an aptitude for the subject as Stewart, no-one is really that interested."

 

"It's a good school, but.....I feel like it's lacking something." Stewart said. "Something important, every day I feel that way."

Greta smiled. "Well the more logical subjects were never my cup of tea either. I was always better suited for the creative side of things" She said as she walked over to the little coffee shop in the bookstore. "two cappucino's please" She said with a smile, pulling out her debit card.

 

Cara thought for a second. "I dont know, what do you think it could be?" She asked curiously

Stephan laughed a little bit and nodded at Sirius. Ann pecked Sirius on the cheek and then heard what Dash said about being saved by Stephan.

"Our son saved you?" Ann asked in surprise. "I would never expect him to step up to an armed criminal like that!

"Ah, well, you know. I've always been one to help out." He bragged.

"So, what's your story, Rose. Why did you insist on dating our son?"

"Well, after that happened, I started seeing him around a bit more. Every day, we passed by each other, over time, we just started spending time together." Dash said. "I don't know, I guess after that happened, I realised that your life can be taken away from you at any moment, and it made me want someone to spend my life with."

 

"I guess it could be I'm just missing some friends, I spend lunch all alone, I go to the library and study." Stewart said. "And I'm the only other student that's there."

 

"I guess you're right. Some people just aren't that interested." Missy said, tapping her fingers on the counter.

Cara smiled. "Well why don't you make some? Its way easier than it looks, just go up to someone, introduce yourself, and find a topic your both interested in. Easy" She said happily.

 

Greta paid for the drinks and gave one to Missy before sitting down. "Here we go, nice and warm" She said with a smile, taking a sip

Missy sat down across from her.

"I just don't know what to do. On the one side, Frank is my husband, but on the other, he's Stewart's father." Missy buried her face in her hands for a minute. "I guess I'll just have to wing it and hope I make the right decision."

"I don't think it's that simple, I just don't fit into anywhere." Stewart said. "You're the first girl who's talked to me since coming here."

"Aww. That's so sweet, Rose." Ann said. "I think you've got yourself a real keeper here, Stephan. If I were you, I wouldn't lose her." She said to her son.

"Mother! You're embarrassing me!" Stephan exclaimed, flushing a little red. 
"So, Rose, tell me and Ann about yourself. Y'know, besides what happened with you and Stephan." Said Philip.

Dash thought for a moment.
"Well, I grew up in Washington, my parents were very athletic, it's where I got my knack for speed and sport in general." Dash said. "But when I was 17, my parents were killed, they were......" Dash paused for a moment. ".....killed by a gang of monsters, I'll never forget when I found out."

"Why don't you ask Stewart what he thinks. Maybe it will help sway your decision" she said softly. "May I ask where Frank is now?"

 

Cara frowned "I bet if you talked to someone you would find out tons about them. Why not join a club? It might not be your thing, but my sisters always looking for a few volunteer stagehands"

"I don't know, I just told him to get out....after he...." Missy put down the cup and pulled back on of the sleeves, there was a bit of a bruise there. "Yeah, he's an alcoholic. Stewart was in bed, I took care of things." Missy picked up the cup again.

 

"I don't know....I just, I want friends but I don't .....if that makes any sense at all." Stewart said.

"Yeah, I totally get it" cara said happily. "But it's nice to have people to hang out with and talk to, even if just every once in a while" she said, shivering a bit

 

Greta sighed. "You can't stay there, not if there's anything like that involved. What if he were to so something to Stewart, it's bad enough if he's already done that to you" she said seriously

"I can protect myself, I'm not just some helpless woman you know." Missy said, and sat back in the chair. "Look, he's only like that when he's drunk, I have to hold faith that he'll do something about it. Until then, he can live on the streets, he's certainly not sleeping in my bed."

 

"I guess." Stewart said, noticing Cara was shivering, he put his arm around her and looked in the other direction. "Um, if you're cold, should we get somewhere that's warm?" Stewart said, still not looking at Cara.

"I never said you were, but that isn't tolerable. If he won't quit drinking, you need to leave before it escalates. No one deserves to be treated in such a manner, and there's no excuse for it" Greta said, a little more determination in her voice

 

Cara smiled and giggled. "Sure, I know a pretty cool burger joint not too far from here, it'll be my treat" she said happily, leading him down the street

"Oh my. They killed your family?" Philip asked. "I feel so sorry for you, Rose." He said with sincerity. 
The more Stephan's parents talked to Dash, the more worried he was becoming about them saying something about Equestria. If they spilled it, they'd never look at them as sane beings again.

"Yeah, they apparently didn't even see it coming." Dash said. "Even if it's not true, I'd like to believe they were happy, before.....yeah..."

Dash stared down at the floor, unsure of what to say.

 

"Sounds good to me, though I don't mind paying for it." Stewart said, "I work at a comic book store on weekends."

 

"I know what you mean, so I guess we should talk about things that happened at school, any interesting students, who am I kidding, you teach Drama, of course there will be." Missy said,

"Really? I love comic books! I read them all the time as a kid!" Cara said excitedly, walking towards the burger joint. "That's such a cool job!"

 

Greta smiled. "You'd be surprised. The kids are so nervous about what others will think that they don't... Do anything. It can be infuriating at times"

"Well, are there any that stand out in particular, like......someone that you know will make a career out of it, if they open themselves up of course." Missy said.

 

"Yeah, it's not as cool as you might think, it's certainly a great experience, but I don't really read them, I've been meaning to start though." Stewart said.

"There's a few that have potential, but they're just too self conscious to really participate. It's painful watching them sometimes" she said with a slight laugh

 

Cara opened the door for Stewart and smiled. "My favorites are the superhero ones. I don't really buy them anymore but maybe I should" she thought out loud

"Well, it's really frustrating being in a class like science, I mostly teach physics and chemistry, so it's hard to get them to do the work." Missy said. "Well, they do the work, but not many of them seem to understand it, even after many explanations."

 

"Well, as I said, I'm not much of a fan, I just work there." Stewart said, noticing his arm still around her and moving it away. "You should come by some time."

Stephan got up from the couch and clapped his hands.

"Well, I think that we've caught up enough." Stephan said. "But, we've gotta go. We'll see you at Christmas dinner, guys." Stephan opened the front door and exited the house, letting out a big sigh prior to doing so. "I'm sorry you had to experience that, Dash,"

"No, it was actually OK, it's probably best that I talk about it anyway." Dash said. "Your family's nice, I can't wait to meet them again at Christmas." Dash walked alongside Stephan. "So, if there's an alternate version of Missy and Grand, is there gonna be one of the others too?"

"Possibly." Stephan speculated.  "If that's the case, we should be able to find a human version of Fire, Caramel, Moon, and Starburst. They might have different names, though, names that fit well with humans." Stephan had a thought come into his mind. If the Rainbow Dash and Sirius from Equestria, wouldn't that mean that they had a chance to find another Rainbow Dash and Sirius?

"Well, I hope there's no version of me, that'll probably do something to the universe that can only be explained by an egghead like Twilight." Dash said. "So, what do you wanna do now? I'm a visitor in your world so you have to show me around." Dash grabbed his hand.

Stephan blushed a little.

"Well, part of the Christmas tradition is the gift giving. I don't think you're going to get many gifts here, since my parents just now met you and Christmas Day is only about a week away." Stephan said, being frank. "I was thinking that  we could look around... and you and Siri can pick out a gift. Y'know, something to take back home."

"Hmm, sounds good to me, It's really hard adjusting to the legs never mind the fact that I can't walk on my own yet." Dash said. "And what I said back there, it was true, my parents were killed, it was hard for me to get over it, but I had my friends with me, to help me through that."
