Secret Technology from SUN BUTT Industries create advanced robot ponies that could work and think on their own. One day the machines  decided to take over Canterlot and later all of Equestria. It first started when the Orbital Friendship Cannon was fired and millions of ponies were killed. The machines enslaved the rest of the living ponies. Not all hope was lost. A group known as the Cutie Mark Crusaders rose up to defend the pony race.  SUN BUTT Industries sent a elite pony robot back in time to eliminate the mane 6 so Twilight could not be crowned princess and overthrow Celestia as ruler of Equestria .
