Maybe that thought was a bit to dark for Midnight, but it was one that faded away from his mind pretty fast.

Stephan tried to calm the stallion down. "Relax, Midnight. We'll get out of this. If you think about the consequence of failure, we'll never make it out with our skin and manes." He went back to focusing on this little algebra expression. He got one part figured out. "Now, what's the X in the problem..."

Midnight got so bored that he tried to interact with the animals. Surprisingly he could, to an extant at least.

Day sat down and look over the problem 12= 5A×3 24= 4X×4 was what it said. It looked like basic algebra. but solving for A and X kept giving him fractions 4/5 and 6/4 respectively. "Can fractions fit in the combination?" he asked. No answer from the green pair. Just as talkative as ever, he thought. He walks over to the safe and punches in the numbers. 4564.

 

(Does it work? I was waiting to see if anyone else could figure it out since I'm in a room with people who left the RP and have no way to discuss options.)
