Reuel(Crystal Slave) 287 August 4, 2013 Share August 4, 2013 Hey guys! This is the second song off my EP, and one which has been in the works for quite a long time... I just didn't have the confidence to tackle the rest of it until now. I hope you enjoy it, and please leave some feedback if you do! (or don't! haha.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyaEAFasWU4 3 My Music Channel

repsol rave 2,963 August 4, 2013 Share August 4, 2013 (edited) i'm gonna write this while i'm listening to it, so i get everything i can find into my review :3 allrighty, here goes! the intro is definately interesting. very cool to have the monologue in there. also intro, very cool to have the piano come in like that. little 'silence for the storm' is pretty awesome. very nice pitch in the vocals. it fits the overall atmosphere of the song like a glove. love the percussions dropping in like that. it really adds a new dimension. awesome how you 'lift' the song into the second half of the vocals there. first thing i noticed that can improve (slightly): the melody seems to be drowned out a little. i know that a soft melody is often used to create a atmosphere in a track, and i think you captured that quite well, but to my likings it still seems a little too soft. epic fade out moment FTW again, perfect placing with the monologue, captures the overall emotion of the track nicely. the piano behind the monologue seems to add nicely to the outtro. so that's all i got on the song, now for the vocals: i really like the vocals a lot. they seem to be perfectly pitched to be packed with feel and are very nicely sung. the editing on the vocals is also very cool to me, since it adds to the fading of the sounds and the overall mastering of the song. i will give this song a 8/10 there is a little room for improvement on some very minor things, but overall it is really well made. very nice job Edited August 4, 2013 by repsol rave 1 My OC's: Roarke, Repsol and Crystal

First off, I'm very glad you enjoyed it so much. 8/10 is more than good enough for me as I'm still working my way up to professional-quality music. Your positive feedback on the songwriting and vocals in general is quite encouraging. (Yeah, I used tons of pitch-correction, though. I can sing on key pretty well, but usually not well enough for my standards of quality at this point. Newtone does wonders for that.) As for the melody getting drowned out, this song was really tough in terms of mixing due to all the reverb and ambience going on... I did the best I could, but yes, definitely something to watch out for in the future! I plan on doing more vocal songs on this EP (which comes out the 8th, by the way) so I'll take all of your review into account during the composition process!
