Something hot Pelate *wait a minute*

"Uhhh, I wouldn't suggest flying that high, were on a mountain, flying any higher can make it hard to breathe, and it's really dangerous, and with somepony on your back it would make it even worse for you." Pelate explains, the camp was in the mountains, the air up there is almost inbreatheable if you're too high of altitude.

"Interesting, that is a predicament. I'm rather interested in the properties of your plants, though knowing your work it would contain a most unpleasant surprise". Monkshood stated as he chuckled at the end.

As the duo walked around the trail, Monkshood brushed by a small blackberry bush. He ate a few of them of the bush without a second thought, this was clearly second nature to him.

@, @,

"I went high enough to get a decent lookout over the area earlier, about 13 metres from the ground, I stick to that altitude, we'll be fine"

Parso smiled at Wish

"just let me know when you're ready and we'll go for it"

he started to do a couple wing exercises, to make sure they wouldn't strain when using them

"Well, ok, just making sure you know." Pelate shrugged with a small grin *wish I could fly, I only know how, but I can't do what other Pegasi do* the gray Pegasus frowned at his own thought, he wished he could fly, but his wing holds him back unfortunately. @@Nomadic,

"Hmmm..."  Ceres thought for a moment, trying to think of something that might have a negative effect.  "Just don't eat the bush... I don't think it would be good.  I had to add in a few breeds in there to get the color right, and I'm not sure how they all came out yet.  I'm still trying to reverse the bush and turn it back into a tree."

Ceres turned her attention back to Monkshood, who had just eaten some berries from a nearby bush.   Ceres chuckled, smiling at Monkshood.  "So I take it you don't get attached to ponies often?  I mean, form long lasting relationships?  I can imagine being a traveling apothecary might get in the way of forming any kind of deep bond with ponies."

"Oh, why would I consume the leaves of plant I know little about. I would rather not potentially poison myself, or worse. If I ever did do something that foolish, I think I wouldn't of lasted more then a few days out in the wilderness". Monkshood rolled his eyes at the sheer ludicrousness of such a foolish statement.

Just then, Ceres asked him a question he hadn't truly considered in years.  Stumped, Monkshood responded, simply telling her. "I have been travelling since I was small. I had to learn from a young age that any kind of relationship I have whilst travelling is merely a fleeting occurrence. My journey is incompatible with such proclivities".  As he came to the end of his statement, a prick of sadness came over his voice for the briefest of moments.

@@ParsoOfEquestria,

"It's okay Pelate, I can't fly either!" Wish said, hoping she didn't sound too tactless. She smiled at him before looking back at Parso.

"I don't really have any important plans, when do you want to go? Soon?" She grinned: the idea of flying was growing on her and Pelates warning had only fuelled it more.

Ceres frowned.  She had predicted this answer, but still didn't like putting ponies into sad emotional states unless it was absolutely necessary.  Though, she could use this.  Ceres walked closer to Monkshood, brushing up against him in a comforting gesture, smiling.  "From what I've learned so far, it's not always the length of the relationship but the quality of it.  I've had some really good times with ponies who left the next week, never to be seen again.  And who knows?  Maybe you will see somepony you get to know really well again.  After all, I'd like to think that it's possible to run into eachother."

Her smile grew a bit wicked as she continued, a sparkle in her eyes that portrayed a bit of predatory instinct.  "Or you could just seek them out.  You tend to travel so you could always just seek them out whenever you get the urge.."

@@ParsoOfEquestria,

"Sure, lets go!" The mare chimed as she hopped up and followed him outside.

"Don't worry, I will. I don't particually want to fall." She chuckled a little as she wrapped her forelegs around his neck and clutched tightly, still a little unnerved but excited at the same time - adrenalin already pumping through her body at the thought.

Parso helped Wish onto his back, she was lighter than he thought which was a good thing when it came to carry weight

"and here. we. go!"

he flapped his wings, beginning to take off from the ground in a vertical pattern, until he was at his target altitude and then began to fly straight over the area

"beauty of a view up 'ere"

@@ParsoOfEquestria,

Clinging to Parso for dear life, it took Wish a few moments to build up the courage to actually open her eyes.

"Oh wow, I'm flying!" She nearly squealed - still clutching tightly.

'Thirteen meters? It feels like a hundred!' She thought as she watched the ground below them. 'Why do Pegasi walk anywhere?'

As expected, she did have an excellent view from the air: there were a few places that she made a mental note to visit - as well as what looked like a possible way up to the top of the waterfall.

"This is great!" She shouted in a somewhat more composed voice.

@,

Parso laughed at Wish's excitement as he flew he around the area some more. after a while, he started to get exhausted

"hang on, I'm just gonna take a breather"

he landed on a cloud to catch his breath

"don't let go still, I can walk on clouds, but you wouldn't"

the cloud was still high enough to show a decent view of the area

@@ParsoOfEquestria,

"How does that even work?!" Wish said disbelievingly, looking down at the cloud. "I'm on you're back... shouldn't I be pushing you through it or something?"

Glancing between the cloud and the sheer drop not only past the edge, but unseen below them as well, she felt her adventurous side take hold, clutching tightly with her right foreleg, she reached down with her left and prodded the fluffy 'ground' tentatively: surprising herself when it passed right through it and pulled out a rather wet hoof.

"That is so weird! It's like its not even there, but we're standing on it!" She remarked, wrapping her free hoof securely back into place."

Monkshood had recovered from his brief sense of remorse. His eyes hardened a little, showing a sense of belief in his choice to abstain from any long-term relationships.

Responding to Ceres' statement he said with a slight edge. "Whilst I feel you may be right, but who am I to say that such a ephemeral desire is worth more than the potential life of somepony else. I may not be acclimated to dealing with ponies, but I am not heartless. How can I turn my back on somepony that might need my help. Would you forsake your calling for such a pleasure"?

Monkshood's eyes glared at Ceres bringing about a questioning of her own work ethics.

@@ParsoOfEquestria,

Clutching the stallions neck with less force than before now that her initial concern had subsided, Wish simply watched the landscape beneath them: she thought about how much easier traveling must be for a pegasus and how much easier life must be, being able to fly and...

"... I'd look so good with feathers too!" She thought out loud under her breath with a smirk.

@@Nomadic,

"I never suggested that.  I meant in between jobs of course.  Or am I misunderstanding the nature of your work?"  Ceres asked, a genuinely curious tone in her voice.  "Now that I think of it, do you just wander from town to town or do you get called from one town to the next?"

Responding to Ceres question, Monkshood stated with pride. "I am a wanderer foremost. Whilst I have been beckoned to towns and such before, I have even stayed in settlements in brief instances, yet I almost always prefer forging my own path. There is always more to discover in my field. How can I sate my curiosity knowing this? While you Ceres have been forced to come here, I came here of my volition because of my work".

"Oh?  Sounds like an excellent excuse to be all work and no play."  Ceres teased Monkshood.  "C'mon!  I want to go check something out!"

Ceres trotted at a quick pace through the forest to an undisclosed location.  She had a feeling that the path would lead to a clearing soon, given the way that the plants were growing around them.  Her intuition told her there was a great spot in the forest not too far away.

Monkshood perked up raising his head in a confused state. "Wait Ceres, what are you doing"? Shouted Monkshood as she trotted away from him. Quickly, he sped up and began chasing after her, intrigued by her declaration.

"What is it that she wants to show me? Is it something important? I must know".  Monkshood thought as questions began to build up in the back of his mind.

Ceres ran through the woods, dodging the trees and brush.  Eventually, the trees and brush opened up into a circular clearing with a clear view of the blue sky.  Ceres happily slowed to a trot and stopped at the center of the clearing, staring up at the sky for a few moments.  Smiling, Ceres turned to Monkshood.  "You want to see one of my children?"

Not even waiting for an answer, Ceres produced a seed seemingly from out of nowhere, and proceeded to plant it in the ground where she stood.  Stepping back, Ceres strolled over to Monkshood's side and took a seat.  Careful to watch his expression as the scene unfolded before them.  A few minutes passed before anything happened.  When it did happen, a beautiful violet colored flower with long petals and a moderately large stem sprouted from the ground almost instantly.  The petals opened as the flower bloomed, releasing a few spores into the air.  the inside of the petals had various patterns of black color inlaid with the violet plumes.

The spores had reached the ground, more and more violet flowers popping up one after the other.  "This is Viola.  She's a rapidly regenerating flower that serves no real purpose but to look beautiful.  Her leaves are non-toxic and can be used for coloring, but they're not really good for much else.  And they can only grow in clearings, once they hit a space that is over-grown with brush they stop multiplying."

As if on cue, a few spores that had attempted to penetrate the woods fell and died upon hitting the ground.  The ground around Ceres and Monkshood was now covered in the violet flowers in full bloom.  "My favorite part is what happens at night, the leaves glow in the dark and give a serene violet glow to everything it touches."

Ceres smiled, carefully caressing a nearby flower.  It had only been a maximum of fifteen minutes, but the approximately twenty foot diameter clearing was now a resting bed for her Viola.
