Chrysalis's plan

So in a discussion with a third party we disscussed Queens Chrysalis plan. He thought it didn't make sense, bring up such things as

1.how she got in with the shield and if she could get in with the shield up? 

2. If she could get in with a few minions why couldnt other minions? 

3. Why did she need to take down the barrier considering the above.?

Well Ive heard this before and since my first viewing her overall plan seemed kinda of obvious to me. So I will lay it out. 

OK so the first thing that occurred to me about chrysalis upon reflection was that she was a great shapeshifter but a horrible actress. In order for her to fool the surrounding ponies she needed distracting factors. We know she used the Wedding as one, she was brain washing Shining Armor and used him as her defender in case anyone called her out for her behavior, as well as putting on the water works. The reasonable excuse was extreme stress due to coordinating the upcoming wedding. But that wasn't enough she wanted a further distraction. Its not directly said in the show but I always thought it was Chrysalis herself that tipped off the ponies to the "threat to Canterlot". Chrysalis wanted to infiltrate Canterlot from within and as such wanted all eyes facing outward anticipating an unknown threat. She came in with a few minions assuming the form of cadence and as such a reputable figure warned Canterlot of the threat. Now with all scrutiny facing outward and a reasonable excuse for any discrepancies in her behavior she could truly assume the role of Cadence. Knowing the groom to be was the captain of the royal guard she could control the main line of defense. All while draining his love and gaining power. As for Celestia and Luna? Well Chrysalis being the new princess of love and all was privy to all the goings on in Canterlot including where Luna was going to be. With her out of the way and her hyped up on love magic Chrysalis was ready. During the Wedding the shield would fall and her minions would descend upon Canterlot like a Tsunami. Celestia would of course be surprised but prepared to take on this threat. Whilst distracted Chrysalis would turn on the princess hitting her dead on with a magical blast whilst her minions over took her and Canterlot. Its the one two punch. The thing she didn't account for was Twilight Sparkle. 

Of course a lot of this isn't shown in the show, but I thought it was suggested as we had already seen her use the wedding as a distraction. It was also said that a threat had been made against Canterlot. Not that a threat had been discovered, but made. That seems to indicate that Chrysalis indeed made the threat herself.

1. Most likely Chrysalis turned into a pony who worked in the castle or just some random pony. Snuck into the castle and learned about the cave and gathered info on certain things. Then captured Cadence and after words set a threat to Canterlot. Or maybe she came in threw the mines and did the other stuff I said.

 

2. Most likely Chrysalis did not bring any of the changelings with her. They are good for battle , but they don't seem like a smart bunch on there own. They would be much of a risk.

 

If she did seek them in and why not so many. Safety in numbers. Have a bunch attack and have the other few in the town find all the safe zones and forces them out.

 

3. If you take out the leader of the guards, they well not know what to do. Confusion well take place. Giving the enemy time to take out the guards.

It is a possibility and very likely Chrysalis took the form of a pony other than Cadence to actually get to Cadence.

The reason for not just taking in the army right away is that Canterlot is just too strong to take on directly. You have Shining Armor's shield to get through and if you manage to bypass that you have Celestia, Luna, Cadence, The Elements of Harmony, and the whole of the royal guard to contend with. Even with an army I don't think Chrysalis has much of a chance in a direct confrontation and she knew it. That's why she weakened them from the inside.

The brides maid ponies werner't changeling. They were brain washed. For one why would they still be in pony form to block off Twilight and Cadence? They would look more terrifying in their normal form. Also remember Cadence threw that bucay and the 3 went after it. Why would Changelings care about something so pointless?

 

As for the other stuff. Chrysalis's plan involves taking out Shining Armor and brainwashing him. So that part is taken care of. Chrysalis's plain involves using SA love to beat Celestia, which she did and won. Luna was no where to be seen and most likely was not in Canterlot during the battle. Cadence did not fight Chrysalis's, so this most mean she knows she can't win a lone and most likely can't fight. The mane 6 need to at least have the elements in order to use them. And finally the guards have most likely been on standby for a couple of days and not resting well. So most of them are at least at 50% of their power, at best. While Chrysalis's army has been getting good amount of rest and waiting for the day to attack. With a big full on attack the guards would not be ready and would be beaten in no time.

 

Also kinda like in the episode, Chrysalis was not the best Cadence impersonator. So to take an pony in the kingdom and replacing them is to big of a risk. They would not know how to act like them and some would notice that they are acting odd. And they can't leave the Kingdom because Luna is watching and the barrier would stop them from leaving and returning to what ever location they are at. They would be to weak because they have no where to rest and no way of eating that does not look odd. To me it would be to big of a risk to have them there. So I would want them to rest and attack in a big wave.
