  1. Thank you. I'm going for more of a storyboard kind of thing with this. Proper animation takes a lot of time, like a lot. Ive got a bachelors in media arts and animation so I found that out the hard way. Not to mention adlibing means Ill never know exactly how much Ill have to do. I'm definitely going to do more images as this goes on. For fight and action scenes Ill have no choice. I want to see if I can add sound effects as well.
  2. Ok so this is the first part of a completely ad libed fan fic crossover called Harry Potter and the Perplexing Pony Plane. Sound stuff is going to be a doozy of a learning process.Below is the cover image and below that is the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TDyzlkYYrE
  3. Had a Dream that Pip and Diamond Tiara had a subtle romance going on in the series for like the past seven seasons(dream took place in the future mlp season 18). Then everyone lost their minds in an episode where Pip kissed Diamond Tiara, then they kinda became the new leaders of Ponyville.
  4. I thank you for your concern and advice, but I don't think Ill have a problem. The term Power armor has been used in other media, Fallout being the most popular I can think of off the top of my head. I don't think they have been sued for it. I also think my design and the narrative function of the power armor is different enough for most to end up forgetting the connection the term has with either of those sources.
  5. Do you like the idea of a princess dawning a powerful suit of armor to defeat demons? Do you like the idea of a romance between a mermaid and a centaur? How about a world where magic and science have merge into one? Princess Power Armor has all of this and more. check it here http://princesspowerarmor.tumblr.com/ or on my deviant art here http://anadukune.deviantart.com/gallery/53847110/Princess-Power-Armor I have just launched this and hope to keep to a page a week schedule. I am both amazingly excited and very nervous about this, but I hope you will join me on this journey.
  6. The fandom will be well and fine. Sure it may shrink a bit during the gap between generations but it will be fine. This has happened with other fandoms in the past and they are still around. Heck the star trek fanbase has had to weather a bunch of gaps between products, but its still thriving. The Star wars fanbase had to weather some of the worst movies a respected franchise has ever had. MLP is still bringing in the bucks so I don't think it will end with season 5, especially with a movie being made. Im thinking it will go on for some time. Seeing as how the mlp brand is stronger than its ever been I very seriously doubt they will just leave the brand with gen 4. Gen 5 will happen and it has a better foundation to start with than any gen before it. Gen 5 can and I think probably will use the world of Equestria. There's a lot they can do and most of the stuff that comes into my head is pretty exciting. Unless the heads at Hasbro smash their brains in and pull a gen 2 or 3 again I don't think there's much to worry about. Wait nine seasons somewhat confirmed!? Where are you hearing this news good sir/madam? I would be most enraptured if I were to read it myself.
  7. I doubt the fandom would die, decrease yes but not die. Darkwing duck, Gargoyles, and power puff girls still have a fan base and that was before the internet became as integrated as it is now. That said I don't think the show is going anywhere for a while. Its pretty much the only thing keeping hub alive and its the only franchise showing continued growth for hasbro.Even when it does end we will almost certainly get a new gen in equestria. Hasbro isn't going to leave this newly successful franchise to rot. MLP is a very interesting thing going from long dorment and usually derided to crazy success in just a few years.
  8. For me I was kind of surprised by the vociferous reaction to Twilicorn. It seemed fairly obvious to me that this would eventually happen since the first episode, which is where I started back in late 2010. You have the fact that Twilights element of harmony is a crown whilst the others are necklaces, the fact she was a direct apprentice to Princess Celestia, the fact that her very name is the bridge between night and day. Heck the obvious progression she made from season to season. Because of these reasons and some Im leaving out I saw this coming from a mile away as something that would eventually happen. Its even confirmed that Lauren Faust originally intended for Twilight to become a princess to begin with. As a brief not I sarcastically mentioned this as "the end of the show" a long while back and was taken seriously. I will say I was surprised by the Twilicorn decision in that it's fairly atypical for a show to make such a change and stick to it. That's what makes it exciting and its one of the things that makes this show great. Its not afraid to progress. Season 1 had Twilight writing to Princess Celestia and Twilight as the main one learning. Season two right off the bat mixed this up and said hey all these characters have potential to grow and learn so have them write letters as well. Season three got rid of the letters entirely and integrated morals into the stories. It also lead to the end of Twilights' original story arch and started another. Season four had her in this new uncertain learning phase. She's not a good flyer, she is a bit uneasy with the whole royal title thing at first, and then just uncertain of her general place in the world. Now at the end of season four Twilight has found her place as a princess with all of her friends. What's next? Well I don't know but I'm excited to find out. This show experiments and changes and we shouldn't fear that. Instead of slowly falling into a repetitive rut it takes an idea uses it and then switches things up a bit. It does this without compromising its core. That's why I not only accept where the show went but love and embrace it.
  9. I for one think this season was great. It offered things I had been wanting for a while. I wanted more lore especially considering Celestia and Lunas' past, it delivered that in the first two episodes. We all wanted more Rarity episodes, it delivered that. I wanted to see Cadence get more screen time so we could get to see more characterization of her. Again this season delivered that. Sure its had its misses, but then again so has every season. My faves of the season Testing Testing 123 Rarity Takes Manehatten Flight to the Finish Filli Vinilli Pinkie Pride Maude Pie Pinkie Apple Pie Equestria Games Princess Twilight Sparkle Bats Three's a Crowd For whom the Sweetie Belle Toils
  10. Nightmare Moon was pretty evil. She Plunged Equestria into eternal night which would if not for the mane six have inexorably destroyed order and life in Equestria. She also had no qualms about using deception and manipulation to further her goals. She also banished her own sister to god knows where without a second thought. Is she a tragic villain? Absolutely. Its been made clear that Luna was a good pony that was driven to evil. She felt shunned by the world around her as the ponies never took a moment to appreciate what she did for them. Whilst they basked in Celestia's sunlight they hid away from the stars and moon. The only possible solace Luna had was her possible interactions in the dreamspace. Even that probably just made her feel more shunned. The only time she ever saw her subjects was in the mental space of their dreams which they more often than not forget upon waking or write off as insignificant. After years of that its pretty easy to see how someone would lose it.
  11. Im not sure why people make a big deal over something that has been an established character trait for a while now. Pinkie has shown in the past that whilst she isn't stupid she can be pretty oblivious to how others are feeling and sometimes the world around her. This has been shown multiple times in the series. Luna Eclipsed comes to mind first for me. Despite Luna's obvious emotional distress Pinkie fails to notice and continues screaming and inciting panic. Even when Luna has cancelled Nightmare Night and all the ponies of Ponyville were depressed and the children sobbing Pinkie continued merrily along. Then there is her behavior in Griffon The Brush off. Rainbow obviously doesn't want to hang out with Pinkie in the beginning, yet Pinkie doesn't notice at all. Pinkie was also oblivious to Gilda's obvious annoyance at her presence. Also in the very pilot episode where an unspeakable legendary evil has captured Celestia and cast eternal night upon the land Pinkie plays a guessing game. Then there's the Discord arch, whilst the world has been turned upside-down and all the negative implications layed out Pinkie is still her happy self. Concerned over finding chocolate milk puddles and laughing whilst the villain monologues to them. Pinkie is oblivious sometimes. Pinkie sometimes confuses her cutiemark story with how equestria was made. Pinkie sometimes forgets her own freaking birthday.
  12. In my opinion no its not a bad season. In fact it had what was possibly my favorite episode to date in Magical Mystery Cure. I could go into further detail on why but I don't think many want to read a full blown essay on that here.
  13. From what I have seen of G1 which includes the movie, and the first four episodes of the show I would say one of the main problems with the show was the lack of any character depth. It was insanely hard for me to remember any of the ponies even after only a few hours had past. It would seem to me that any move trying to make MLPFIM closer to G1 could only be a step down. FIM was a fresh start that nobody saw coming. That was the point it was fresh and introduced new characters in a new world.
  14. Ive heard many say the presence of destiny immediately negates the possibility of free will. I don't think this to be the case. I think one of the big reasons people do this is because it has become common to use the words fate and destiny interchangeably. However there is a difference between the two. Destiny: Predetermined events in ones life that they take an active coarse in shaping Fate: Predetermined events that happen because of or in spite of ones actions. It is through the choice and self discovery of the ponies as individuals that they fulfill their destinies. If nothing else I think Magical Mystery Cure actually showed how important they were as individuals, that their choices and personalities could and did shape things. If the mane six were nothing but the puppets of an outside force(destiny or fate) then the switch in MMC would not have mattered. They simply would have switched places and resumed the roles imposed on them as the outside force had dictated. However this is not what happened. Their personality and agency remained and their ineptitude and choices were causing havoc. Rarity's conscious decision to pattern the sky caused the weather to be damaging to the ponies. They were forced into the position of another pony and as such had all their memories and cutie mark, but they retained their agency. It was Twilight's very agency which made the switch possible. Twilight through a conscious decision casted a spell which switched the destinies(life paths) of the ponies. What is shown in MMC is that choices do have consequence and that the ponies through all the cumulative choices they had made up till that point had become very important to the general structure of things around them. I personally use the word attractors to describe destiny. These attractors pull or attract the past towards a virtual future. The things that makes these virtual futures become actual futures is a causal agent. We as individuals are always moving towards a virtual future and if we make the right steps and truly explore ourselves we may reach one of these attractors. However there are many causal agents and as such one's destiny or even collective destiny can be altered. There may also be competing attractors. A example from another piece of fiction the struggle between the light and dark side of the force in Star Wars. In Return of the Jedi The emperor demonstrates the ability to predict the future and does so with a startling accuracy. However The actions of Luke Skywalker a causal agent negate his destiny. The virtual future the emperor saw never came to pass. This is supported by Yoda when he states "always in motion is the future". There are tons of attractors or destinies competing although not all of them are in direct competition. Destiny is shaped by the individual and can be fulfilled or negated by them.
  15. A question with a complex answer but according to the poll on EQD most liked it, heck even much of the reactions on this very forum was far more positive than the ridiculous preemptive negative reaction against it. Some or many are going to dislike it and that's fine. However I think a large amount came in with a negative bias and latched on to it. So many wanted to hate it from the very start. When going into something with an extremely negative outlook you begin picking out anything you can to back up that preconception. Im my personal experience this isn't conscious you just do it. It isn't until after the fact that you may notice. The opposite also occurs though perhaps ill talk more on it in a topic on this matter specifically. Unfortunately reacting to something so vociferously is going to leave that impression. My personal view on Equestria girls is pretty much the same as when I first saw it. I think its a fun movie. I think it has great humor. The characters despite not being ponies were actually still pretty cute, in other words their character did shine through. Songs weren't bad, Help Twilight Win the Crown just might be the catchiest song Mr Ingram has made. Are there problems with the film? Yes of coarse there are. The villain is under utilized and her plan is very questionable. Flash Sentry is a pointless bland character, he has very, very little if any character and could be removed from the movie with very little if any consequence. The little romance crush thing is really hard to believe given the lack of character for Flash and feels really pointless to me. But overall the movie is fun.
  16. You can if want to appear consciously deluded. It happened if you didn't like it then fine whatever, but you cant just ignore its existence without appearing as such.
  17. My reaction: Oh it Flash sentry. Yeah I mean that's it. I mean I don't dislike him but I don't like him either. Though I do like his character design. Ok let me come up with a more exciting reaction. FLASH!!! AHHHHHHHH AHHHH!!! DEFENDER OF EQUESTRIA!!!
  18. I can agree that when I see rabid hate for not just this episode but any episode I just shake my head. Its ok not to like an episode but at this point it does feel like people are kicking a dead horse. I feel that when dealing with episodes we dislike we can handle ourselves better than we(all fandoms) tend to. I didn't really like the episode that much, but I can see why some do.
  19. To my knowledge all of the generations of MLP have ben 2D, so a switch to 3D would be a combo breaker, not necessarily a bad one. If G5 becomes a reality and with the growth MLP has gone through with G4 there is almost no doubt it will eventually after a long G4 run. For G5 Id find it very weird if they changed the style up too much, MLP has become a huge pop culture phenomena with G4. It would be pretty a terrible move for them to change such a well loved design. If they play it right they can just tell another story in Equestria with new characters. Maybe a different time period. MLP has something now that it never really did before, lore. Its got its own world with its own creatures that inhabit it. As long as they keep it in the land of Equestria they can pretty much do whatever they want.
  20. DiscordAnarchy (quote function not working for me) Yeah that's defiantly a possibility. especially regarding the reaction to Wonderbolts Academy where we really had next to nothing to actually place her character. Anti-Villain Well actually S3 Spitfire was shown to reward Careless and selfish behavior. She praised lightning's reckless and selfish tornado stunt(a stunt which nearly killed 5 ponies) calling it an excessive but effective tactic. Spitfire didn't punish anyone until Rainbow told her it was wrong. After which Spitfire agreed. This is consistent with what we saw in Rainbow Falls. Spitfire wanting the best for the team which is representing both Cloudsdale and the Wonderbolts sees a potential to strengthen the team and takes it. She doesn't see that what she is doing is wrong until again Rainbow points it out to her. Again after which Spitfire openly agrees. What I see in Spitfire is a flaw that Rainbow demonstrated in S1 in the Running of the Leaves. When put in a competitive atmosphere Rainbow took to dubious tactics. It took Twilight to point out that her behavior was wrong for her to realize it. In short Spitfire is blinded when it comes to representing what's best for the Wonderbolts and in this case Cloudsdale, but when shown that her actions are wrong she readily realizes her mistakes and acts accordingly.
  21. Ok which episode were you guys watching where we got to see a big side of Spitfire's personality. In season one she got a few lines and that's about it. Then we got Wonderbolt Academy which showed a harsher in command Spitfire, which makes sense as we had never seen her interactions on duty before. At that point we could start making some statements about her. One was that her personality off duty was different than her personality on duty. That shouldn't come as much of a surprise as many of us have to dawn a bit of a different personality at our occupations. This was also shown in this episode as she did seem more soft spoken and casual. We can also say that she is competitive in spirit and promotes that spirit in Wonderbolts Academy. She promotes it so heavily and gets so caught up in it and what's good for the Wonderbolts that she fails to see extremely reckless behavior. She can only see the performance of Lightning and Rainbow Dash calling it an excessive but effective tactic. Rainbow has to point out that it was reckless before Spitfire realizes it and concedes the point later. The same is the case here. Spitfire gets caught up in the heat of the competition and makes a bad judgment call. She's so caught up in representing Cloudsdale and doing the best for her team that she doesn't realize what she's doing is wrong. Again Rainbow has to point it out and again She concedes that she was wrong. Her character seems fairly consistent to me.
  22. Ok maybe I'm missing something here but it seems you are getting worked up over one little scene. Boasting wasn't what the episode was about, in fact she really didn't do much of it in this episode. Most mentions of Rainbows ability are just plain fact. Rainbow vastly outshines her team mates in flying prowess...well with the possible exception of Fluttershy in her weird adrenaline fueled moments. You mention MMDW and say Rainbow should have learned her lesson there. I say she did. Lets look at the moral of MMDW. Twilight Sparkle: Celebrating your accomplishments is natural, but... Apllejack: Rubbin them in everypony's faces is not. So was she rubbing her accomplishments in everyone's face? No. Most of the mention of her abilities come from other ponies. Other than that Rainbow mentions she can up the slack for her team. This isn't boasting its a fact that was demonstrated at the end of the episode. Bulk and Fluttershy knew they were not as good as Rainbow Dash its something stated and showed in the episode. As for the scene you mention lets quote Rainbow here. "Ah it was nothing. But if you feel like talking about how great I am, don't let me stop you." This hardly seems as egregious as you make it out to be. Even if we take this as blatant boasting its not ignoring character development. People learn things and do their best to integrate them into their lives. Rainbow does so in this very episode. However we sometimes fall slightly back into those old habits every now and then. It's just something that happens and I would say its realistic. I would say she is boasting a bit but not rubbing it in their faces. Yes Rainbow hinted that she wanted praise(we all do to some extent) but left the decision up to them as to whether or not to do so. She claims she is great, and she is everyone recognizes this. In MMDW Rainbow would not have left it at that.
  23. This is a weird one. Okay so I had A dream where I was the most inept, awkward, and clumsy potential guard ever. I was still human but was in a world that was largely but not exclusively populated by Equestrians. I was the single worst guard ever and almost everyone hated me or looked down upon me. I cant say I blamed them either. I vomited on Shining armor because I decide to eat two pounds of ice-cream before training. I tripped down the stairs fell on the grass, got up, tripped again and accidently slapped Princess Cadence on the flank. She thought I was Shining Armor flirted with me before turning around and flying off super embarrassed. Shining saw the whole thing and I was so nervous that before I could explain or apologize I vomited on him again. I tripped into Luna's bath tub with a bunch of cheese curls and she smelled like cheese. So I had to get the cheese stuff off of her and realized she was naked and felt weird about it. She said she was always naked and I felt weirder so she put a towel on one of her hooves and apparently she didn't look naked anymore. However I had to clean that hoof and when I took off the towel she got all embarrassed and said I had a dirty mind. I accidently flooded the Canterlot court with milk because I tried fighting cows and accidently punched the milk out of them. However for some reason Celestia had an crazy amount of faith in me. She ardently defended me at every turn and forgave every mistake. She seemed to strangely brimming with pride no matter what I did. Then me and Celestia had a picnic and she told me of an very important book she wanted me to protect. I asked why she chose me because I was the absolute worst choice ever. She said said "shhh trust me Im Celestia" So she announced with an amazing glee and pride that I would protect the book. We were all in a castle tower and kind of crowded so people and ponies were agitated, but not Celestia. She handed me the book and the first thing I did was casually toss it out a window. immediately I saw Celestia's glee turn to extreme sorrow as she broke down and wept uncontrollably. Shining armor looked at me with contempt and said "are gonna vomit on her too?" I leapt from the tower grabbed the book from mid air and flew back to the tower. Yes I could fly for no reason and didn't care. Celestia regained her happy demeanor and then I vomited on the book because of motion sickness and the dream ended.
  24. Net Neutrality is the thing that stops internet providers choosing what you get to see and what you don't get to see on the internet. As of now net neutrality is dead meaning there is nothing to stop your providers from blocking any site they deem fit. They can also put up pay walls, and that's most likely what they are going to do. Verizon and Comcast are currently racing to implement things like this. I heavily suggest that all who like an open internet sign this http://act.freepress.net/sign/internet_FCC_court_decision2/?source=huffpo and this https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/restore-net-neutrality-directing-fcc-classify-internet-providers-common-carries/5CWS1M4P
  25. What? Males portrayed as slaves? When? Fancy Pants was a slave? Hoity Toity was a slave? Shining Armor was a slave? Soarin was a slave? The guards are slaves? The only time that I can think of that anyone was portrayed as a slave in the show was the flashback to King Sombras' reign. The male characters seem fine to me, They just don't play as much of a role. Its a damned welcome change to have the bulk of the show dominated by strong female protagonists, in contrast to the normal morons we get with a typical all female cast. MLP Tales did it right? What? Ok no...just....no. MLP Tales didn't do it right, not in the least. The males were for the most part portrayed to be horrible and mean spirited. They were both the antagonists and the love interests of the show...yeah no problem there. One of the main boy characters Teddy consistently demonstrates his devious nature usually doing one thing good worth mentioning, and that one good thing is enough to have the girl fawn over him. Even a song dedicated to how he was good inside mainly showed his mean spirited antics. The girls mainly lusting after the male ponies. In the few episodes I have managed to see I have seen very dubious morals, very poorly written characters, and bland animation and style. If you like MLP Tales then that's fine, but I think you are going to have a really hard time presenting an argument that it portrays either gender in a way that could be considered right.
