Untitled Goose Q 5,138 September 26, 2013 Share September 26, 2013 Hello darkness, my old friend, I've come with talk with you againBecause a vision softly creeping, left its seeds while I was sleepingAnd the vision that was planted in my brain, still remainsWithin the sound of silenceIn restless dreams I walked alone, narrow streets of cobblestoneNeath the halo of a streetlamp, I turned my collar to the cold and dampWhen my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light, split the nightAnd touched the sound of silenceAnd in the naked light I saw, ten thousand people, maybe morePeople talking without speaking, people hearing without listeningPeople writing songs that voices never shared, and no one daredTo stir the sound of silenceFool, said I, you do not know, silence, like a cancer, growsHear my words and I might teach you, take my arms then I might reach youBut my words, like silent raindrops fell, and echoed in the wells of silenceAnd the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they'd madeAnd the sign flashed its warning in the words that it was formingAnd the sign said the words of the prophets are written on the subway wallsAnd tenement halls, and whispered in the sounds of silence. This is from memory. So basically yes, I like Simon and Garfunkel. 1 On 4/22/2016 at 6:16 PM, The Nightly Spectre said: One does not ask why The Questioner is awesome. Yamato 1,348 October 1, 2013 Share October 1, 2013 Simon and the Funk are pretty groovy. I usually prefer music that's a little faster paced than theirs, but I can definitely chill to them from time to time. This is the greatest OC of all time. NomDeSpite 452 March 26, 2014 Share March 26, 2014 (edited) Absolutely! Simon And Garfunkel was among the best music the 1960s produced. It's rare that I like most songs a band has created. I'm this way about alot of my favorite bands too. But with S&G I've liked/loved almost everything I've heard by them. "Cecilia", "The 59th Street Bridge Song", "I Am A Rock" and "Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard" are all great, but their absolute best song is "The Boxer". It's one of the best classic rock songs of all time. The chanting, the strings, the monstrous snare drum smashes and bass horn (whatever it is) are so dramatic, so moving. Twilie 184 March 26, 2014 Share March 26, 2014 Im a pretty big fan- I have been listening to them since I was little. My favorite song by them is "the boxer." ... "Still, a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest." this is one of my favorite lines just because its so prominent in our lives... people just stuck in their ways, not listening to what others have to say... im not sure exactly why but this song always gives me goosebumps c: 1 Rock, you are a rock. Gray, you are gray. Like a rock, which you are. Rock.
NomDeSpite 452 March 26, 2014 Share March 26, 2014 "Still, a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest." I was actually considering quoting that line when I posted it. It's a mantra I've internalized as I navigate through life. On 4/12/2014 at 0:00 AM, Miaq_The_Truthful said: This is the internet, not reality. Envy 6,529 March 31, 2014 Share March 31, 2014 (edited) I'm afraid that most of the songs they usually play on the radio, such as Cecilia, Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard, and Mrs. Robinson just don't do much for me. However, The Boxer is one of the finest examples of folk I have ever heard, and being that is becoming one of my favorite genres, that is saying a lot! The ending is so intense! I also like their rendition of Scarborough Fair: Edited March 31, 2014 by Envy 1 Everything needs more woodwind!
