A surpisingly amount of downer moments on the show.

I have a big thing for the song "Mad world."

and I noticed there are more than a fair amount of videos for it for mlp and the irony is (those are the best 2)

you can find different enough scenes to fill the gloomier parts of the song.

Makes you wonder how many bummer scenes we'll get  season 4.  I'm not complaining, it's inspiring to the fan base.

Wow... That's strange but true. I never even realized how many moments there have been until seeing this (Weird, this is the one time I haven't noticed something like that...)

Well.. the Ladies are pretty moody, and at the age the mane 6 are at, their hormones are everywhere.. so the whole 'going from happy, to sad, to happy again' is normal for their age..

That, or just don't worry about it.

The only problem I have with those videos is that I prefer the Tears for Fears version of the song.

But yeah, there are a surprising number of such moments. But that reflects life I suppose.

The only issue I have with the video is that I highly prefer Adam Lamber's cover of the song to the Gary Jules, or Tears for Fears version. (Just personal preference)

This show does have a lot of sad moments, but it also has a lot of happy moments to so it isn't all just depressing stuff. Alas, life is full of sad moments, and this show does a pretty good job of capturing the sad moments. But at the same time it does a great job of putting a smile on the viewers face.

Now, as much as I love sappiness through and through, the fact is, you can't keep a show interesting if nothing goes wrong. Having characters take the time to take a few blows to their emotions allows a lot of characterization for the characters we couldn't really get without it. How could we have known the extent of Pinkie's love for her friends without knowing how much it'd hurt her to supposedly lose them as shown in Party of One? How could we have known Twilight's determination in being a proper student for Celestia if we hadn't been able to see how it would feel for her if she failed shown in the Crystal Empire (and as a bonus, showing her and Spike's Mother-son-esque relationship and it's extent as well)? And in Ponyville Confidential... Actually, nevermind, I hated that episode. And Hurricane Fluttershy... Let's face it, if it weren't for this episode, there would be too many people going off the Discord episodes and thinking that Fluttershy's feelings couldn't be hurt at all.

Downer moments really are a necessity in shows where the characters do endure conflict. If we intend on truly getting to know the characters, it takes more than happy moments to really show them off.
