I've been thinking of joining these forums for a while now, and here I am!

By the way is this character limit everywhere? It's annoying me.

People here are very friendly so I'm sure you will make a couple of friends in no-time! Have a look around the board and get familiar with the sections. We have help files if you have any questions. In the top navigation bar, hover over "Help" and you will see a couple of useful links.

 

The character limit applies in the most forum sections where it is 100 characters minimum. It is 50 characters minimum in this section, Welcoming Plaza. In the "Life Advice" section, the character limit is 200 characters. However, inside the section Cloudsdale Colloseum, there is no character limit. We have the character limit in a try to raise the overall quality the posts on MLP Forums. Saying "I like derpy" in a thread called "Do you like derpy hooves" does not really help the discussion. After all, 100 characters is not much at all.

Cloudsdale Colloseum is for forum games and other silliness mostly. I highly encourage you to also participate in some of the discussion threads in other parts of the forums since that's mostly what a forum is all about! Have a look around in the different sections, I am sure you will find at least a couple of things that you will find interesting to state your opinion on.

 

But of course, Cloudsdale is a lot of fun. Just look at what I just found. Hah!

Seriously though I've never had a problem blowing straight past the minimum, usually even within the first sentence of my reply. All this extra stuff I put in my replies is just something I've always done and like to do, and not really there for any other reason. (Promise!)

When I was new, I found the character minimum to be a pain too, so you're not alone there. I've really gotten used to it anyway, just like everyone else does. It won't seem too bad after a while, trust me.

And, yes! Cloudsdale is best Forum section. I spend most of my time there, so I'll probably see you around a fair bit.
