ProjectRKA 2,848 November 18, 2013 Share November 18, 2013 I did this sketch yesterday. Any advice on drawing legs in general would be much appreciated.
repsol rave 2,963 November 18, 2013 Share November 18, 2013 (edited) if you pick up a pencil, make sure you draw lines. these lines are crucial to the sketch. thank me later :3 also, this: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/01/pony-drawing-guides.html Edited November 18, 2013 by repsol rave My OC's: Roarke, Repsol and Crystal
DerpLeOtakuz 43 November 18, 2013 Share November 18, 2013 I would say that overall, it's really good. The only thing is, is that the back leg should be somewhat hidden. ~Pokemon forever!~
ProjectRKA 2,848 November 18, 2013 Author Share November 18, 2013 if you pick up a pencil, make sure you draw lines. these lines are crucial to the sketch. thank me later :3 also, this: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/01/pony-drawing-guides.html I'm fully aware of construction drawing (or whatever it's called), and that's what I'm doing. Though, legs are just a big pain in the ass... I would say that overall, it's really good. The only thing is, is that the back leg should be somewhat hidden. Depends on the pose. But thanks for the comment. ^^
DerpLeOtakuz 43 November 18, 2013 Share November 18, 2013 Actually, it also depends on perspective, though I have to say, that is a good point. ^-^ Your sketch is still well done. 1 ~Pokemon forever!~
SkyBound 829 November 18, 2013 Share November 18, 2013 (edited) Though simplified, the ponies in the show do follow basic horse anatomy. Studying equine skeletal structures would be an excellent place to start if wish to gain more confidence in drawing a pony. There are also a plethora of tutorials and resources on how to draw ponies and a quick search should prove quite useful. Here is very useful and fundamental reference sheet that I do hope helps you not only further understand how the legs look and work, but also the rest of the body as well. Overall, what you have thus far is a good start and just requires some touch-ups anatomy wise. Good luck and happy drawing!
