Ruby scoffed when she saw Pink jump back when she swiped at her with her wing. "You ponies are nothing but stepping stones to my greatness. The fact that I walk the halls with you is disgusting, and you." Ruby then pointed her wing to Erlen. "I can tell by just looking at you that you'll never amount to anything and the same goes for your little marefriend too." Ruby then turned and continued down the halls towards her next class Home-etch where she would have to see that horrid face and nasty color of Corona.

Erlen squirmed after Ruby pointed her hoof at him and said many nasty things about him. He didn't like being poked at and made into a fool, and one of the most powerful ponies in the school did it to him. He looked down with a frown as he saw Ruby walk away. Pink already hated her, and this made her hate Ruby even more. She looked at Erlen, who was looking downtrodden. Although she liked Sterling more, she couldn't help but give Erlen a side-hug. It was something she wanted to do to comfort him. 

 

"Erlen... don't let somepony like her get to you. She's only big because of her parents. They do all the supporting for her. Ponies like us. We have our own talents that can bring us far long into the future. Just know that I care Erlen... and that you're a very talented pony." Pink then let go, realizing that her next class was approaching... She then gave Erlen another side hug before walking away. But Erlen first stopped her...

 

"Pink... thanks for your encouragement. I'm glad to see you care." Erlen then gave her a smile before he walked away. Pink then giggled, realizing that she comforted a stallion, and trotted to her music class, hoping that she could do the same to Sterling...

It had been a week since just the second day of school and already Corona had made a name for herself and she'd met the stallion of her dreams in Sterling. Over the last week they'd gotten closer, they had been hanging out more and more. Unfortunately due to the training schedule that she was on it left for little time, but they'd managed to work around it. Corona had one thing that she really wanted to do and that was see Sterling's house, she wanted to see what the real Sterling was like at home.

 

Corona woke up early and looked at her calender and saw that it was the day before the first game, and against Canterlot High no doubt. Corona grabbed her things and left for her early morning practice, she was hoping that Sterling would be there for the practice to see how good she was. Oh I can't wait for the game tonight I hope Sterling will be there to watch me in the game. Oh and I can't forget about the Princess, she'll be there too. Corona flew towards the school with excitement.

Sterling's first week of classes ended without much fanfare. His time spent with Corona however made his week that much more memorable. When the weekend came and passed, Sterling couldn't help but imagine Corona in all that he did, from practicing the piano and violin to looking through his microscope for the smallest of organisms. All those times they spent together throughout the week only strengthened his feelings for her...

 

Sterling woke up from his slumber, remembering that tomorrow would be Corona's first Wingball game. He still didn't really understand the concept, but he wanted to cheer for Corona regardless. He wok up with a fresh smile, performed his daily routines, and trudged off to school with a happy wave to his parents. He couldn't wait to see Corona again...

Corona made it to the school and could see the students pouring in and she was finally excited to be going to school. Everything seemed to be fitting into place now. She had an after school activity she loved, and she was falling in love with the stallion of her dreams. It was then that Corona saw Sterling trotting up to the school. Corona waved with great excitement, she loved being around Sterling. "Hey Sterling it's really good to see you. Will you be at my game tomorrow after school?"

Sterling was entering school with high expectations now. He had so much to look forward to, from falling in love with a mare who loved him, to having fun seeing ponies greet him when they found out he was joining the Hoofstomp Orchestra. He walked over to school and found Corona excited to see him. Sterling saw Corona running up to him and greeting him, and Sterling replied with a happy grin,

 

"Hey Corona! Why wouldn't I be coming to your Wingball game tomorrow?! It'll be an awesome thing to watch!"

Corona blushed and shuffled her hooves a little. "S...Sorry Sterling I just wanted to make sure. The last time a stallion said he would be there for me showed up with another mare." Corona gave a warm smile and hugged Sterling deeply, she didn't want it to end but she knew it had to. "I have to go to practice now Sterling but I'll see you later for our after school practice ok." Corona flew off towards the back of the school, she was so excited to be starting her first game tomorrow.

Sterling felt a deep hug from Corona. It was very comforting and Sterling was very happy to have comforted Corona this much. He wanted to support her through thick and thin, even if the events she was involved with weren't those of much interest to him. Maybe he could grow into his love for the game, but for now, he adopted a wait and see approach. Regardless, Sterling wanted to cheer Corona on, and that he'd do to the fullest. As Corona flew away to practice, Sterling could only wave dreamily as he trotted towards the school's entrance...

Practice seemed to go without a hitch for Corona, it was simple flight moves and routine drills for the most part. There was a point where they had to fly 100 laps around the field because someone foolishly made a joke about coach Dust. Other than that it was fine, but now they were at the point that Corona had been waiting for running the plays. Corona looked at Shadow, he was in command of the rest of the other half of the team it was time to find out who was the better captain for the team. "You won't make it through this game girlie." Corona just glared at him before sticking her tongue out. "You'll regret looking down on me for this Shadow." Lightening Dust took a breath and blew her whistle and tossed the ball up at the same time, the grudge match was on.

Sterling went through his classes as normal, but couldn't help but be worried for Corona as she prepared for her game. He just had this bad feeling something bad would happen... but he couldn't point his finger at it. Being the worrywart he was, he started losing focus on his work over his nerves as he prepared for his first class of the day... algebra. The worst course to lose focus in...

Corona flew as fast as she could tossing the ball from teammate to teammate. Corona dropped hard with two of her guards, both getting knocked down leaving Corona to continue on her own. The ball held firmly in her hooves as she ducked and weaved past players. It was then that she got kicked by Shadow, the ball getting knocked from her hooves as she was sent spiraling. Corona quickly recovered and went after Shadow, she slipped the ball away and kicked him knocking the wind out of him for a moment. Corona quickly made a B-line towards the goals one of her guards following, she kicked it to her guard who kicked it back before she made the winning goal. The whistle blew and the teams regrouped back on the ground, Shadow was rubbing his side and still trying to catch his breath. "Ok everypony your team captain is Corona, and Shadow you're co-captain." Shadow growled and stomped his hoof. "That's not fair she's not the best I AM and I SHOULD BE LEADER!" Corona looked over at Shadow in shock. "Look you're good Shadow but Corona's a great team player and she looks after her teammates and doesn't just do everything by herself."

Eventually, Sterling was done with math class, and he quickly rushed off to his next class, looking more and more apprehensive as the day progressed. He really wanted to keep calm, but his nervousness continued to overtake him, worried that something terrible would happen to Corona... He tripped through all of the books and jumped left and right, evading as many ponies as he could as he rushed into biology class...

Meanwhile, Pink had also lost concentration, being worried that Ruby was up to no good. She was always up to no good, but her encounter with Pink was particularly frightening. She really had something to hide, and she was worried that they were concocting a plan to hurt somepony really soon...

Ruby was finishing up her practice for the cheerleaders for the school. Her group would be involved with all of the schools big sprting events and this included Wingball. She hated the fact that she would be cheering on the team that Corona was on, but it didn't matter cause she knew that Shadow would get the captains slot and lead the team to greatness. It was then that she saw Shadow flying over a look of pure rage on his face. "Shadow what happened? You got the spot right?" Shadow grit his teeth and looked away. "That stupid Corona showed me up and got the lead spot. Coach Dust made me co-captain for when Corona couldn't be at games." Ruby grit her teeth and stomped her hoof into the ground. "Come on Shadow we're going to go find Diamond and have some fun with Corona."

Sterling was going through business as usual during biology class, but he kept having that lingering thought that something terrible was going to happen... Too bad he didn't have many other friends to talk to in biology class... not even Pink Heart was around to be silly to him... All he could do was sigh as he anticipated the Wingball match inching closer and closer...

Diamond Glitter wasn't the type to rely on other ponies for success. But she wanted to make her mark here and enact some revenge on Corona after all the crap she had to put up with her... She didn't like such low-class words, but she couldn't think of any other at the moment, so she stuck with that one. She giggled in excitement during History class, feeling that she was going to finally orchestrate the end of Corona once and for all...

Corona started doing some practice laps around the flight track, she had a little bit of time before her next class. The rest of the team soon joined in and they started running over the plays a few more times. It was during one of the more difficult plays that the announcement came out letting all the students know that it was time for the next class. Corona flew inside and to her locker grabbing her books and started towards her next class.

 

Ruby was ready to take care of Corona and make sure that she would regret ever coming to this school. "Shadow you know what to do right? Get the gear and get it to Silver Thread so that she can get it all set up, then she'll get it to Diamond so that she can give it to the maroon stallion." Shadow nodded and flew off in a hurry and towards the locker room for the team. There he had found the gear that they'd been fitted for last week and quickly found Corona's. With a sinister grin he picked up her gear and trotted off to find Silver Thread.

Sterling arrived at the field where Corona would play Wingball. He sat at the front rows, wanting see Corona in action. He however was still very worried at how things would proceed with the game... He had every reason to be worried, for his worst nightmares were about to come true...

Pink Heart was at the game, raring to go. She loved sports, and she thought Wingball was a really cool game to watch! She sat near the front rows as well, noticing Sterling off in the distance. She sat near him, but was too nervous to talk with him, given that it seemed like he was more interested in Corona. Still, she was worried about that really mean bully... If only she knew what she was thinking of when they eavesdropped on her...

Corona was flying around the school in a fit of panic, she'd somehow misplaced her wingball gear. No no no no no this can't happen not today. I'm team captain and I need to be there for my team. Where could it be at I know that I left it in the locker room. Corona continued looking for her gear in panic practically turning the school upside down. Unknown to her Silver thread was making the final touches before concealing it with her magic. Silver trotted off towards the stands looking for the maroon stallion named Sterling, it wasn't hard to find him since he was sitting in the front row. "Excuse me Sterling, I heard Corona's been looking for her gear someone misplaced it and I happened to find it. You should probably take it to her." Silver levitated the gear carefully over to Sterling, in the trees in the distance Ruby sat on a branch and grinned mischievously as she watched everything unfold.

Sterling was still sitting on the seats, wondering where Corona was... she wasn't on the field yet, and the game was about to start... What if her gear was missing?! Oh the horror! Then... a silver mare came over to Sterling with Corona's gear... She told him to bring over her gear and that they found it...

 

Wait, why did she have her gear, Sterling pondered... But Sterling quickly shook the question off his mind! There wasn't any time to ask questions! Sterling had to bring the gear to her! He quickly took it with him and rushed towards the athlete's change rooms...

Pink Heart noticed Silver giving Corona's gear to Sterling. She was going to ask him why this stranger pony had Corona's gear, but it was too late... Sterling was already walking towards the changing rooms. She could only sit there, suspicious as to why a stranger gave the gear to Sterling rather than give it back to Corona directly...

Corona flew back into the changing rooms and started looking one last time. Hoping to find it she started looking frantically for it, until she happened to see Sterling come into the locker room. "Sterling what are you doing her you shouldn't....be. Sweet Celestia is that my gear Sterling!? Where did you find it???" Corona didn't really give much thought to it, quickly grabbing her gear and flying into the changing room after giving Sterling a kiss on the cheek. Corona came out with her gear on and a big smile on her face. "You should go back to your seat Sterling the game will be starting here soon, and I'll be leading us to a win." Unknown to both of them, that once hit with the ball or anything the paint would coat her beautiful mane and shake their growing relationship.

Sterling arrived at the changing areas. Noticing that Corona was in a rush, he frantically tried to wish her the best of luck before the Wingball game began. But it was too late for him to do that. Corona didn't even hear him, it seemed, and Sterling had to walk out of the changing rooms as quickly as he entered. Sterling then proceeded to return to his seat, anticipating the start of the game and excited to cheering loudly for Corona...

Pink Heart couldn't help but be a little fearful for Corona. The gear came from someone suspicious, and she could only wonder what the strange pony was doing with the gear in the first place... It wouldn't take long for her to find out...

Corona quickly changed as fast as she could and headed to join the team. The game started like normal and Corona led the team out into the fray. The game went without a hitch, the Feather Falcons were on a roll with Corona's leadership in the field. They kept scoring and scoring and it was looking like it was going to be a easy win. It was during a scuffle that one of the opponents spiraled out of control right towards Corona. Nothing really to worry too much about with the padding they had on depending on where he collided with her would be nothing at all. The pegasus tried hard to regain control but he couldn't and slammed right into Corona's left side, knocking the wind from her for a second. Ruby on the other hoof was in the stands with an evil smile when she saw this happening.

 

Ruby watch as the two collided and then as set the sacks of ink popped inside her gear, soaking Corona in grey paint. The sudden surprise sent Corona spinning down to the ground with the other pegasus dripping in paint. The ref called a time out, Coach Dust raced out onto the field to help. Before Dust could say anything Corona ran into the locker room in tears. "Shadow you're in for Corona. Go!"

Sterling was watching the game, excitedly cheering for Corona as she made play after play to allow the Feather Falcons to continually dominate the opposition. Knowing the sporting gods however, the best of times can suddenly change into the worst of times in a mere blink of an eye, and that exactly was what happened. Sterling gasped as Corona was splattered with gray paint all over the place. She collided with the other ponies and was spiraling towards the ground... Sterling quickly ran from his seat and tried his damndest to get on the field, but it was no good... the deed was already done.

Pink Heart too watched all that transpired, and had also given a gasp when Corona fell to the ground with the grey paint splatted all over her gear and body. Unlike most of the ponies in the stadium, she didn't laugh at Corona. She wanted to rush down there with Sterling, but she was powerless... she couldn't get in, no thanks to the security guards standing by the field... She knew the gear was no good! But it was too late...

Corona was in the showers crying uncontrollably, she was trying to get as much of the paint out as she could. Frantically her hooves ran through her mane and tail, even the fur of her coat. The paint that was used was a darker color of grey so that it would show even on her body. Star had seen everything as she had raced towards the field after the event had happened, she knew that she had to do something to help Corona. Star made it to the locker room and could hear Corona crying in the showers. Making her way into the large shower room she could see Corona curled up in a ball. Her mane, tail, and body had had dark grey patches all over her. "Oh dear Celestia! Corona what happened are you all right?" "No Star! He did this to me...Sterling gave me my gear with the paint in it. He...he...lied to me." Corona cried into Star, what little paint was washing away now was only on her tail now. Sterling didn't know that he was walking right into a bad situation.

Sterling frantically left the stadium after seeing Corona being motioned to the changing rooms. He had to see Corona! He was so worried about Corona that he forgot that it was he who gave her the sabotaged equipment! Sterling frantically pushed the other ponies out of the way into the changing rooms. He then noticed two ponies, one of which was showering and crying, and the other pony was the friend Sterling encountered at school... Star was her name he remembered. Knowing it was still the ladies' change rooms, Sterling waited outside at the dank, grey, and thin hallway, wondering how to best comfort Corona...

Corona continued to cry into Star, she was in pure shock as to why Sterling would do what he had done. Corona got up and started walking with Star towards the exit. All Corona wanted to do right now was go home and try to figure out a way to fix this stupid mess. As they walked out of the changing room it was then that they saw Sterling waiting for them. Star used her wing to cover Corona and keep her close, watching as it seemed like he was going to say something. Corona shot him a evil stare. "I think you've done enough for one day Sterling. Go home, Corona does want to see you right now." Star spoke as they walked past Sterling and out to meet her parents. Corona left crying unaware that it was Ruby and Diamond that had planned the whole thing.
