Stephan stood outside while Missy gathered up more supplies. In the moonlight, he could see a few dark shadows coming from the ruined buildings. More bandits, unsurprisingly. They're probably coming to check on their pals.

"Missy, please hurry up. They're coming." He said, popping is head inside.

"Well, if there's not that many, we might be able to hold them off, but if there's more....." Missy levitated a lot of food into a seemingly working cart. "Take this cart over the hill in the opposite direction and wait for me, wait 3 or 4 minutes, if I'm not there, just leave without me." Missy found her bow again and levitated it. "Don't make me tell you again." She pulled an arrow and mounted it in the bow.

Stephan took the cart and began running out of the town. As soon as he made some distance from the warehouse, the bandits came out from the shadows.

"That's our loot yer hoardin'." Said one of the bandits, pulling a bow out at Missy. "Give it up now, and we'll let you leave untouched."

Missy had an arrow pulled on the bow and was slowly retreating from the bandits, she didn't care what happened anyway, she was already a dead mare.

"Go on then, shoot me, I've been poisoned anyway, and I guess you're all familiar with it, so go ahead, gimme your best shot." Missy shot the bandit with the bow in the neck, teleported behind the other, took his weapon and stabbed him with it, teleporting again to the other and strangling him with the rope of the bow. "Need to make sure I'm not followed." Missy looked out at the plains, she saw nopony there so she left on the path that Stephan went, she decided not to tell him about the poison.

Stephan and Missy had set up a camp in the Everfree Forest nearby. The entire area was completely lifeless; no fruit bats, no bears, no fearsome monsters, none of that. It was just them and whatever they could nab from the warehouse.

 

In the downtime, Stephan was able to build a fire out of some wood he found out in the wild.

"What were you able to find from there?" Stephan asked the mare.

"Oh, you know, just some food, various other supplies that the bandits had, that kind of stuff." She said, thinking about the blade, how it was slowly going to kill her and there was nothing she could do about it this far out in the wild from civilization, she was starting to feel the effects of the poison., she clutched the bandaged shoulder with an audible sound of pain.

Stephan noticed the mare clenching onto her shoulder like that. She didn't seem too alright. For a moment, he assumed it was an infection, but perhaps it was more than that.

"Hey Missy, you okay? You don't seem to be doing too well." Stephan told her. "Is something the matter?"

Missy juggled whether or not she should tell him the truth, she had intended to die back there, but her instinct for survival was just too strong.

"It's..... fine, last time I checked it's normal for a pony to feel pain if they get stabbed with a knife." Missy joked.

"Well, least time I checked, the pain should lessen when the wound is patched up." Stephan said to the mare, being more concerned about her now than ever. "I mean, your skin isn't looking too good either. That can't be caused by a stab to the shoulder." He implied.

"Well, I didn't want to worry you or anything..." Missy began. "But now that it's out there...." Missy looked straight into his eyes, the concern for her making her feel guilty for keeping it from him, they were friends and she'd lied. "That blade the bandit used to stab me, it was poisoned."

"Well, I didn't want to worry you or anything..." Missy began. "But now that it's out there...." Missy looked straight into his eyes, the concern for her making her feel guilty for keeping it from him, they were friends and she'd lied. "That blade the bandit used to stab me, it was poisoned."

Stephan's eyes widened at the statement. This was bad... really bad.

"Oh my goodness... Missy, why didn't you tell me? If you waited any longer, that poison could've killed you!" Stephan exclaimed, walking to the gravely ill mare. "Well, we need to do something, quickly."

"It's going to die within the next few minutes, I'm guessing anyway, since we don't have much in the way of medicine, especially not one that can counteract a poison of this potency." Missy said. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you before, I was actually planning on letting myself get killed by those bandits, but something stopped me..."

"Please don't say that, Missy. We stole a shit ton of stuff from that warehouse. There's got to be something we snagged from there, like an antidote." Stephan began rummaging inside the bags of stuff they smuggled earlier. He wasn't about to let Missy die, not out here in the wild.

"I can feel it, the poison is circulating around me, slowly shutting down my organs..." Missy felt a sharp stab of pain causing her to fall on her side. "It's definitely strong, just hurry and see if you can find something to ease the pain, it'll make it a lot less painful."

Stephan rummaged through the bags until he found a small shot. It said "Temporary Poison Resistance Hormone" on the needle. As soon as he found the needle, he ran over to the poisoned mare and injected the shot into her bloodstream.

"There. That should keep you going for a good while."

"Thank you, but I doubt it will last very long, I've studied this poison before, it's very potent, and it'll almost certainly kill me if we don't get to civilisation soon." Missy said, trying to stay awake, she was feeling very faint due to the effects of the poison.
