According to most major news sources, a chemical leak as rendered most tap water in this affected area toxic. So to all those bro's out in that area, avoid stores as they have already ran out of bottled water, and avoid using your tap.

Yeah, they've been giving this story coverage in the national news:  http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/01/13/hundreds-report-exposure-symptoms-in-w-va-after-crippling-chemical-spill/?icid=maing-grid7|myaol|dl19|sec3_lnk3%26pLid%3D429445

I feel bad for the people who have to put up with this.  It's a major headache.  You never know how much you rely on your tap water until you suddenly can't use it for one reason or another.  I just had an issue last week when my water pipe froze due to the excessively cold weather we were having.

The young lady who made my Fluttershy plushie lives in West Virginia but I think she's near the center of the state and she shouldn't impacted by this crisis.

I grew up in Huntington, WV and my family still lives there. They've been keeping me updated on what's happening. Apparently the leak only affected a small part of the state, but where it did hit, the water's so bad, they can't even bathe (yuck).

Ya, I heard that the people who did shower in it had to go to the ER for chemical burns. And everyone panic'd and emptied most of the stores of water.

True story. Fortunately my family wasn't one of them. (The do bathe regularly though, haha)

Right now there's a huge drive going on to donate water to the affected areas.

Water shortages/leakages/chemical spills are the worst. possible. thing!

We dealt with a water leakage during the summer. It only lasted maybe a couple of days, but during those couple of days they shut down the bathrooms at work (even though we still had water, it was not tested as safe to use, so they wanted to keep people from using it to wash their hands and stuff like that), which was the worst part of it all. They brought in portapotties... *gags*

I don't ever want to have to deal with that ever again. D:

Sounds like it's a lot worse in West Virginia, though.
