Bronies and Dating

I got out of a relationship shortly before I became hooked on MLP. I am a full-fledged brony at this point of time. I spend a very large portion of my spare time doing MLP-related stuff. It's a fantastic series and I kind of regret getting into it so late.

I am getting back in the dating scene (actually have a date tonight). I probably won't mention MLP-related things on the date. However, if things get serious, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic will eventually come up. How to go about it?

Go about it very casually, as if it isn't anything new or out of the norm because its not.

Talk about why you find the show to be interesting and appealing to you in a very casual way. When people ask me about MLP and if Im a brony, I often times found that when you talk about it as if it's not anything new or surprising in anyway they don't freak out on you.

I mean it is just a show and people talk about shows on TV all the time so, why talk about it as if it is anything different right?  :)

first of all, congrats on the date toninght! have fun. ;)

secondly, basically everything @, said. it's only a TV show, so you shouldn't make a whole big deal about it. if you don't over react about it, your date won't either.

Congrats on the date!

On to the topic, since it is just a TV show that people enjoy and that everyone talks about TV shows when brought up in a conversation, no person should make a big deal out of a TV show no matter what audience it is focused on. I think you can handle it.

Happy for you. :)

Anyways, just go about it casually. Especially if your date is not a fan of the show themselves. If your date is also a fan, then by all means feel free to talk about the show all you want. Share the pony love.

But from what you're saying, it seems like that is not the case, so just keep the show to yourself unless asked. For example, if your date were to ask you about your favorite show then you're more than free to bring it up. If your date understands then great. If not, well there's always other fish in the sea.

Overall, just have fun and don't worry about it. Good luck! ;)

Just don't make a big deal out of it if it comes up be honest and up front but don't try to explain anymore than necessary. Your date might be into the show too, but if not that is okay so long as they are not going to judge you for it. Anyone that judges someone so harshly over a cartoon is not worth it if anything the whole brony thing is a very good way to weed out who is worthy of your time and who isn't because while I accept MLP is not everyones cup of tea I refuse to date someone who is so closed minded as to automatically assume the worst with no evidence.

Why do so many people act like watching MLP and letting others know being such a big deal? It's a cartoon show people. Seriously. It's like my dad, who was a fan of Inspector Gadget when I was a kid and we'd watch it together, trying to hide the fact he watches it to his co-workers. It's not that big of a deal. At all.

I highly doubt she will go all ape crazy on you over a children's cartoon show. Last time I checked, there are a LOT of people ages 16-30 who still watch cartoons. Gargoyals, Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin, He-Man, Thundercats. Yes these are more boy shows but still. It's not that big of an issue

It's never hindered my dating life. I'm fact, most girls I've dated dug the fact that I had a feminine side and was secure in my masculinity.
