There is a region beyond which is not known to Eqestria: the Lost World. Being in the Southeastern corner of the world, it was hard to get to, and quite obnoxious at that, even if you managed to get there. However, one pony, named Light Streak,maws determined to change that. But first, he required a partner...

Nigh Comb sighed as he swiveled in his chair. The work he was supposed to do sat there unfulfilled. He chuckled. No matter how bad he procrastinated nobody called him out. The pony got up as he went into his break, glad his time was over for now. As he walked to his usual restaurant he saw a pony searching for something.

 

'Hey. You need something?' He asked, hoping to find a reason to stay out.

"Why, hello there." Said Light to Night Comb. "I'm not searching for anything in particular right now, I'm mainly looking for someone to share an adventure with." Said Light. "I plan to visit a very out of the way area of the world, known as The Lost World, and I require a partner." Explained Light.

That's good enough. 'I can go. I'm not really busy at the moment. I haven't gone out for a while anyway.' Night Comb lied. He already had a plan to get out of work, yet here was one that would also give him an adventure. He smirked a little as he thought about leaving the city behind. 'Yeah. I can go. I used to travel some.' He added.

"Good." Commented Light. "In that case, you should get ready. We must prepare. It's a long journey, and I don't know if one, or either of us will make it back here unscathed." Spawned Light. He stood up. "Now, what all supplies do you think you shall require?" Asked Light.

'Uh, nothing really. I don't have a lot and I don't need a lot, so...' Night Comb shrugged. 'I guess we can be on out way then. Lead the way.' He said as he began to trot after the pony that had required his help. Interesting day so far. Got out of work and got an adventure.

"Alright, then." Said Light after hearing Night Comb's answer. "However, we should rest. Come, stay at my abode for the night. We need all the rest we can get, and I need to get my stuff gathered. I didn't think I'd find a volunteer so quickly." Commented Light quickly.

'Uh, sure.' Night Comb said as he trotted behind the new pony. The pair came to the pony's building. He settled onto a couch before looking at Light and asking him a question. 'Hey, I never caught your name. I'm Night Comb anyway.' He said as he threw a blanket onto himself and relaxed finally.

"Ah, I guess that I should tell you my name, if we are going to be adventuring together for a long while now." Said Light. "My name is Light Streak. It's good to meet you, Night Comb." Said Light. "Relax there for a minute. I'll be back once I get my supplies around and ready." Said Light.

'Ok.' Night said as he closed his eyes and tried to relax. It would be an interesting adventure, to say the least. Traveling with a random pony to a place he'd never heard of for...what? He shook his head. At least he got out of work. He calmly looked around. The place was nicely furnished and neat, at least compared to where he was. He missed traveling, so this was a huge opportunity. He heard Light Streak come back. 'We ready?'

"Yes." Said Light. Since his departure, he had grabbed a dark cloak, and draped it around himself. He also had a blade now, which glowed a brilliant white. "I do believe I have provisions for you, as well." Said Light. He tossed a cloak and blade at Night Comb. "Keep them handy." He commented.

Night Comb fumbled but managed to catch them. Jumping off the couch he for them on. 'Why do...actually, I won't ask.' He mumbles before putting his cape on and putting the blade away. He walked out onto the street of the small city and looked around. Turning around to face Light Streak, he smirked. 'Away we go!' He laughed as he followed Light.

"Adventure!" Cried Light.

After much walking, the duo came to the boundaries of Equestria. "This is it." Said Light. "This is where Equestria ends, and we begin into the next world. I hope you're ready." Said. Light, smiling. "Heck you probably are, that's why I chose you." Said Light, happily.

'Well this will be...interesting to say the least.' Night Comb said as he looked past the borders of Equestria. 'Well hey, this what we came for. Away we go I guess.' He said as he moved his hoof past the borders. He cautiously removed it back. 'Uh, you should probably go first. I'm assuming you know what's going to happen, so...' He said as he glared over the ends.

"Alright, then." Said. Light, stepping over the border. He breathed a sigh. "Ah. Griffon country!" He shouted, taking in the little changed surroundings if the new area outside of Equestria. "Come on!" He called to Night Comb. "We shouldn't be in any danger just yet." Said Light.

Night Comb calmly stepped into griffon territory. 'Never been to griffon territory. Interestingly...bare.' He chuckled before catching up to Light Streak. 'So, where exactly are we going? I'm guessing youve been into griffon territory?' He asked as he trotted alongside Light, their cloaks flapping in a light wind.

"Yes, I have been to these lands before." Explained Light. "The land may seem barren now, but soon we shall see the areas teeming with life." Said Light. "Our first objective would be to cross the Jundland Wastes." Explained Light. "Which in itself is perilous." He added.

'Jundland Wastes? Doesn't that sound fun...' Night Comb mumbled sarcastically. 'Alright then. You just lead the way. I'm assuming we're going to a griffon city. If so, which one? What is its culture?' Night Comb asked curiously. He trotted after Light Streak carefully. They were in a barren wasteland and both armed. Granted, if he was going to attack Night he wouldn't haw given him a weapon, but Night cautious.

"I do not plan on visiting many Griffon cities. We will have to move through the Jundland Wastes." Said Light. "And they begin right about... Here!" Said alight. He stood on the border of a ruined city. "Welcome to the Jundland Wastes." Said Light, smiling. He had many memories of this place.

'Wait, te Jundland Wastes are a city? That's...depressing.' Night Comb said with a mix of shock and sarcasm. 'Well the faster we get into it the faster we get out. Lets go then.' He smirked as he jumped down a small ledge onto a broken stone paved path. 'Didd griffons live here before? How long has this been abandoned? Lastly, why?' He asked as he looked around and went forward slowly.

"This used to be a prosperous city of griffons." Explained Light, beginning to walk through the area. "However, a long time ago, a vile being known as Ausar The Vile came upon this land swiftly, and destroyed the city." Said Light. "This happened around a hundred years ago." Explained. Light.

'A hundred years? I'd imagine they rebuilt it or at least picked it to the bone by now. I guess they don't want to meet Aduar again. I don't blame them.' Night Comb said as he looked around. Buildings were crumbling everywhere. The roads were broken and everything was...dead. There wasn't a single trace of life. 'Its just gone. Hard to imagine all the griffons here.'

"Yes, it is hard to imagine. The town was never rebuilt, since all the inhabitants were slain by Ausar. However, Ausar was slain, and a new tyrant, Raidriar, The God King, took his place as a dark overlord. Legend has it that Ausar was born again as a hero, and attempts to free everypony from Raidriar's reign." Said Light.

'Thats interesting...wait, did you say 'attempts'? Are we in an active war zone? That'd explain the knives and cloak I guess.' Night Comb said. He even surprised himself at that reaction. He wasn't freaking it. He chuckled a bit. 'That must be why you needed a partner. Strength in numbers.'

"It is part of the reason. I wish to assist the risen Ausar The Vile and stop Raidriar from taking over the world. He is stationed in The Lost World, which is why I said we were heading there. I scheduled to meet Ausar outside the Jundland Wastes." Explained Light.
