Embers open his book and his backpack "Alright...That there...mmmmm....Yep, now all I need is to get my hands on the flower...I must find some way of getting to her without that stupid times pony around...but how?" He sighed and layed back, tossing the book to the side of the tent

once Times reached the bottom he looked at the cannon. "Now I can't pull the cannon on my own." One of the soldiers latched themselves to the cannon and they were back on their way to the fort. Times and the soldier were both quiet as they walked. Every once and a while the soldier would say something but Times would never respond.

Sapphire laughed, smiling as she kept talking. She had no idea ponys who were in this war could be so kind, so caring. She giggled as they talked about what they had done, and her pranks

 

Embers packed up, jumping on the trees he started heading out, smiling as he did

Times started to get tired but he kept walking. He started breathing heavily and the soldier next to him suggested Times should take a break. Times shook his head and continued walking. After walking about 2 miles the soldier next to Times began to gt tired also. Both of them fell over breathing heavily "I think we should take a break." Times said breathing heavily.

Sapphire yawned, she could see that they were taking a break, and she needed one to get back in shape. She chuckled as she did, drinking some water out of her bottle

 

Embers ran, he had used up enuff time sleeping, he had to go find them. He knew they would sleep in the night, but he had to find them at dusk

Times took off his gauntlet and looked at his cracked watch. The watch still worked but it was hard to tell what it said. "6 hours until sundown and we are still 18 miles away from the fort." Times said as he looked up at the clouds. Ever since the war started it seemed the clouds moved by themselves. Times tried to remember when he was just a simple shopkeeper back before the war.

Sapphire smiled as she looked up at the sky, thinking about how the war had changed everything. This pony sitting next to her was the closest thing she had to a friend. She giggled as she talked with him, it seemed like there was no end 

 

Embers saw them. he sighed and crawled around, making sure none of them saw him

Times sat down  and listened as the Soldier next to him spoke. Times would not reply when he asked a question. when he heard "Sir you arn't a very good conversationalist, are you" Times looked at him "No, I used to but... but not anymore." Times looked away and heard the soldier say "Why?" Times looked at him and the looked away.

Sapphire smiled, she looked around and saw many of the others were also talking, she could see times was not though, and she sighed. She yawned and got up 

 

Embers slowly stood up, he had a new bandanna and coat, so they would not know who he was. He smiled at this

Times looked at the ground and sighed. He then looked back up at the sky. He started to think of everything that the war had taken from him; His home, His friends, His family, and his pet. Times saw a cloud in the shape of a dog and thought of sabertooth. He shed a tear when he remembered the first day he brought the little pitbull home.

Embers hoped up onto a tree, he could see them sitting there, and he slowly pulled out his rifle. He needed to shoot someone, to make some panic, then he could dart through and grab the flower. He looked around, trying to find a pony to shoot. He slowly rased his rifle

Times looked looked back at the soldier. "Do you really want to know why?" Times said. The soldier nodded, "Ok, it is just ever since the incident with Winter, I don't tell much to anypony anymore. I don't want to be hurt again." Times said before the soldier frowned and looked down.

Sapphire giggled as she talked with the other pony, she had a strange feeling, something weird. She laughed it off, talking with him

 

Embers raised his rifle, smiling as he looked through the scope, he slowly sqeesed the trigger, and the shot rang out. He then jumped down from the tree

Times heard a gunshot and stood up. He saw a small black ball flying through the air. It was heading for the soldier Sapphire was talking with. Times ran and pushed the soldier out of the way. He felt the bullet hit his helmet and bounce off. The force of the bullet knocked Times onto the ground. He pulled out his flintlock and looked around. He got up and the soldiers pulled out their rifles.

Embers ran into the group, he could see them all looking around. Of corse, he had ment to kill him, but what ever. He tackled sapphire, ripping the flower out of her hair, and dashing off before anypony had the time to shoot him

 

Sapphire stood there, she stared at times, then at the other pony who times had saved. She shutterd

Times saw ember and fired but missed. "He got away" one of the soldiers said. Times took off his helmet and looked at it. It had a large dent in it. "I can see that." He looked at Sapphire and ran over to her. "Sapphire you ok?" Times asked pulling her to her feet. The soldier that Times had saved walked over and looked at her.

Sapphire looked away, the pony had ripped away her...Flower? She sighed and got up, still shaking "Ye...yes...Im ok..." She tried to smile weakely

 

Embers laughed a long laugh, he would trail them for awhile before turning back and using the flower for himself, now that he had it

"Whats wrong" Times asked with a concerned look under his helmet. The soldier that Times saved walked over to the cannon and sat down. Times took back of his helmet after switching his look to more of a poker face, but he still was concerned on the inside.

Sapphire chuckled "Oh nothing, just you know, close calls" She tried to smile, but failed to. This had reminded her to much of her dad, and how he had been shot. She sighed as he put on his poker face and sat down

 

Embers laughed, he was sure he could take a few more shots, kill a few of them off

Times looked at her. "I saw you get tackled, Are you hurt?" Times said sitting down. Being a medic it was his job to make sure everypony on his team to stay healthy and alive. When ever a team member dies He feels guilty and blames himself. Times looked at her before putting back on his helmet.

Sapphire smiled, she looked up at him "Yep...I am fine, thanks" She sighed and sat down, laying on her back. She had no idea what had just happend"

 

Embers looked around, there were still a few trees, and he hopped up onto one, laughing as he loaded his rifle. He grinned

Times heard one of the soldiers fire their rifle. Times turned around and saw one of the soldiers run over to a tree. "I think I got it!" The soldier yelled. Times stood up and walked over to the soldier. "Got what?" Times said when he made it to the soldier. "that thing, Well I think it was that." A bird fell out of the tree, dead. Times smacked the soldier in the back of the helmet and walked back to Sapphire.

Embers grimaced, that had been close. Luckily he had been able to throw a bird out of the tree before anything seemed off. He chuckled as he looked at his black jacket. He slid down the tree, about half way and turned to look at them

 

Sapphire smiled as he came over "Dont worry, Im fine"

Times smiled, "Just making sure" Times said sitting back down. The soldier turned around and saw the stallion. He aimed his musket and tried firing, the musket was out of ammo. The soldier dropped his gun and began running. Times looked at Sapphire and said. "You may feel fine but that hit could have given you a concussion so don't so don't don't try to sleep for a few hours."

Sapphire sighed "Alright...So I will" She sighed and bundeld up her jacket, using it for her head. She closed her eyes and started drifting off

 

Embers needed a new point of attack, he jumped down the tree and moved quickly, not letting them get a glance as he worked his way to the other side
