Is Locked The MLP way of closing a thread?

So on the CCC forum, moderators closed your discussions. But on MLP forums, I recently been seeing some topics marked as locked. Is this one way of closing a topic, because it shows a little lock. :okiedokielokie:  I have many other questions too.

Locked, Closed, etc are all synonymous of the same thing, meaning the thread is set to no longer accept new replies by a moderator, yes

Locking a thread means the same thing as closing a thread. It prevents people from being able to reply to it.

Well, different sites will have different amounts of staff members. Some staff here choose to login anonymously, and do not show up in the online list.
