renat2 0 March 18, 2014 Share March 18, 2014 (edited) Hello guys. I have a good seamstress friend, she can make absolutely any kinda toy for me with no charge. I have asked her for making some kinda pony plushie and given her a bunch of photos of that plushie, but she has said that she needs a... sewing pattern (sewing blueprint? I don't know the right word, English is not my native... something that guides her in sewing a toy ><). I have absolutely no idea where am I supposed to look for that kinda thing. She says she is not able to sew the similar toy without this damned pattern (blueprint?) at all. All I need is a some great plushie and that helping thing for it, but all I've found in google is a plushie without pattern or a pattern without plushie, so I am quite confused... Any suggestions? :\ Thanks beforehand. Edited March 18, 2014 by renat2
Malinter 3,064 March 18, 2014 Share March 18, 2014 The word your looking for is Template You could probably find a standard pony plushie template if you searched but good luck getting a show accurate template. Most folks have made their own though trial and error and jealously guard them, especially if they make a living commissioning from them. Fhaolan 4,494 March 18, 2014 Share March 18, 2014 I'm aware there are a couple of plushie-makers who have made templates & patterns by deconstructing 3D models. I'm not entirely sure how that works, but it's probably way too complicated. Personally, what I do for things like this is buy a cheap plushie/piece of clothing/whatever that is at least vaguely in the right shape, tear it apart and use that as a base pattern. I transfer that to cheap tracing fabric which I can modify to do whatever I want with it. In this case to make it more 'show accurate'. Once I've 'proofed' the pattern that way I can make it out of more expensive fabrics. As it is, there are several people who have done stuff like this, and have posted sorta-patterns. I'd still do the tracing fabric to proof the patterns first though.
