Soda Pop was standing on top of a roof with her new "wings". This time she tried both combining wings AND balloons...Needless to say, she didn't apply any science in this contraption. She took a deep breath and looked over the edge."Oh dear...Gotta remember to aim for the fountain if this doesn't work. Okay...HERE GOES NOTHING!" She exclaimed before running off the edge at full speed and to her credit. She did fly further than she would have without the things...But she still ended up quickly falling downwards. Crashing into the fountain and sending tiny parts flying everywhere.

 

She came to a few minutes afterwards, a few ponies looking at her like they thought she was dead. She shook her head a bit and limped off."Ow...That always happens......I would do anything just to be able to fly properly..." She ranted to herself, limping away from the mess she had made.

Black Widow was in the crowd, and she was actually the first to approach Soda Pop, helping her out of the fountain as she set her coffee down on a nearby table. She was just having a drink at a small little restaurant nearby when she heard Soda crash into the water.  

 

"You alright, sweetie?" She said as she lifted her out with her magic.

Soda Pop sighed a bit. "I'm fine really. I just had a bit of an accident. I've been trying to fly for years now. The best I can do is run fast and climb well." She rubbed her nose a bit. Letting out a few small pain grunts. "I've had worse results, but at least I'm an Earth Pony. We are pretty hard to break."

"That's true." She chuckled, lifting a nearby towel to help dry the poor mare off. 

 

"Need anything?" She asked, lifting her coffee off of the table. Her tone held an air of annoyance, but it was mostly caring. She sat the mare at a table, sipping her coffee as she yawned, as it was still early morning.

Soda Pop sighed. "Not unless you can give me the ability to fly, no. But thanks for asking." She leaned back in her seat a bit. Yawning a bit at the current affairs.

 

She looked around a bit. Staring at a few pegasi as they trotted past them. She let out a big sigh thinking about her current situation.

"You want to fly eh?" Black Widow's ears perked up. She had been hoping to use her magic for a while, as she had not found a decent opportunity for it in days.

 

"You know... I'm pretty good at magic... I could try to give you some.." She smiled, a little quiet. 

 

"I'd need a few things though, if you can help me get them.."

Soda Pop blinked a bit. She thought about it for a second before answering. "I'm willing to try anything! Got nothing better to do anyway. I only race once a week. What do you need?"  She asked, hoping to get started as soon as possible. She briefly looked through her saddlebag and pulled out a flask of soda, before drinking a good bit. "Aahh~ Refreshing"

"Weelll... let me think." She went to her leather purse, taking out a sticky note and a pen.

 

"I'll need bird wings, or feathers, if the former can't be found, Poison Joke extract, ashes from the burnt remains of a stick from the Everfree Forest, and lastly, you must want to have wings with every ounce of your body, only then will my magic work. Do these, and wings are yours." She smiled, putting the list back into her purse.

Soda blinked a bit. "The last thing you can count on...Looks like I'm going to have to visit a shy Pegasus's cottage in the near future...The Everfree forest sounds scary...Okay! I got this! Where can I find you when I got the ingredients?" She asked, not wanting to first of all carry that stuff with her for too long, and second of all just plain because she wouldn't get anywhere without knowing where to find her.

"Well, I was planning on coming with you, if that wasn't a big problem. I haven't had a good adventure in quite a while. Something like this would be a great opportunity to stretch my legs." She got up, putting her purse around her neck. She smiled, ready to leave at any moment.

Soda smiled, she was really glad she didn't have to do all of this on her own. She could only imagine how useful the magic of this unicorn would be with this task. "Thank Celestia...It's nice to have someone that knows what to look for with you. Shall we head out then?" She asked, eager to get moving.

"Ready when you are." She got up, finishing off her styrofoam cup of coffee and tossing it into a nearby trashcan. She wrapped her saddlebags across her body and stood, ready to head out on this adventure.

"So, what do you want to go after first?" She asked, stretching her legs.

Soda smiled and cracked her neck a bit. "I would say Everfree first. That place is the most likely to kill us. Are you sure you want to go in there? It's a little funky. Once I followed a yellow griffon in there, and a lot of odd stuff happened...You know, I'm wasting time, let's just go!" She said, motioning for her to follow as she trotted towards the odd forest.

Black Widow lifted her saddlebags, following the mare in the direction of the Everfree. She had no clue what to expect, as that was just the nature of the Everfree, unknown and untamed, just how she liked it. She had wondered if this journey would be as action-packed as she hoped, perhaps to the point that one would call it a quest. It didn't matter now, however, they had to start a journey before they could think about what happened after it. She smiled, following after her new friend as they began their adventure.

Soda trotted around in the forest, looking at several plants and animals for the ingredients. She then suddenly stopped dead in her tracks when she heard a growl behind her. Sure enough, a Timberwolf stood there, contemplating whether or not to pounce Black or Soda. "S-s-should we run?" Soda said quietly to Black.

Black Widow looked back, the hairs on the back of her neck standing up. She turned slowly, looking at the Timberwolf behind them, before slowly turning her head back to Soda Pop. She slowly nodded, with a very quiet "Yes" before breaking into a full gallop in the direction opposite of the Timberwolf.

Soda followed suit, before the Timberwolf gave chase after both of them. Soda zoomed past Widow at an incredible speed. It was now more obvious than ever that she was the fastest Earth Pony in Equestria. Though sadly, this was cut short by her running directly into a tree, getting stuck halfway through it's thick body from the impact. "BUUUUUUUUUUUCK!, HALPH!" She yelled, flailing a bit in fear and cursing her inability to look where she was going.
