Rarity Paige Belle 1,855 May 24, 2014 Share May 24, 2014 You know, like 50 shades of Grey was a fanfic of Twilight? Beautiful, Stylish, Fabulous AND evil! What more could you want? (Thanks Kyoshi for letting everyone use your sigs!)
Ziggy + Angel + Rain 11,307 May 24, 2014 Share May 24, 2014 Does self-publishing on an art / literature site (that grants copyright) count?? "It uses the faculty of what you call imagination. But that does not mean making things up. It is a form of seeing." - from "The Amber Spyglass"
Archer Dash 163 May 24, 2014 Share May 24, 2014 I think Fallout:Equestria has a printed release, not sure if it's published though. Shanks 10,817 May 24, 2014 Share May 24, 2014 It not entirely impossible but is very very unlikely, Hasbro has wisely left fanworks alone for the most part with certain ones only being taken down that pose a danger to their trademark (I know it sucks that they happened but it is the law that is the problem). But that dosen't mean that Hasbro will let such works be published like actual books. Rarity Get's Cockroaches
SFyr 1,982 May 24, 2014 Share May 24, 2014 I think fanfiction, being a derivative of something someone else owns, is pretty illegal to sell on your own. However.. What what I heard, there are quite a few Star Wars fan-made books published that the people who actually operate/own the series don't really have a hand in--though I think the owners of Star Wars have to have a hand in the publishing, unless I'm mistaken. Like, person A uses B's story, then B has to be the one to publish it. Or something? 3 Commission Thread | Deviantart | Poniverse Tumblr | Art Tumblr
yayayayayala 1,669 June 3, 2014 Share June 3, 2014 One would probably have to be or get affiliated with Hasbro for something like that to happen. (I personally would love to do so, and publish the off-season adventures of the ponies of Equestria! ^U^ But that's just me. )
I used to be a stranger 7,994 June 3, 2014 Share June 3, 2014 There would probably be a hairy legal battle if anyone ever wanted a fan-fiction actually officiated by Hasbro due to the nature of copyrighting. I seriously doubt any brony could, or would want to afford it. However, Fallout: Equestria actually has hardcover copies which can be ordered. They're on request-print basis, not production. http://book.fallout-equestria.com/
