Your Most Favorite of My Pro-"Brony" Blogs

For the past two weeks, I've churned out four brony-centric blogs, all very long and rather deep. As a fellow brony who's been seeing some discriminatory brony-bashing as well as annoying dismissals as MLP:FIM being a show "for [little] girls," I feel like I have to show my love as being one in the method I do best: editorial or essay writing. Present pro-brony arguments and demonstrate why being a brony is great.   These are my four pro-brony writings that I've submitted (from earliest date t

Bronies and the Explosion of Great Art

The brony fandom has grown exponentially since My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic revitalized the once dying franchise. Over two years ago, it was confined exclusively in 4chan. But since late-2010/early-2011, it's spread to further corners of the Internet and was promoted via word of mouth in the form of e-mails and social networking. People all over the world among various cultures came together to watch a family-friendly, brightly-colored Flash animation. As of this moment, the fandom is now

A Response to "Outsider" Bronies

I recently read a reply on Equestria Daily from a fellow "brony" who's both a fan of MLP:FIM and the older generations to me. She doesn't find enjoyment of this fandom nor likes bronies one bit due to them "always" acting like kids such as being overzealous, occasionally respond passionately negatively to older generations like G3/G3.5, etc. This is is a response to both her and various other bronies who feel similar. (The quoted passages are similar to what I responded to, but paraphrased

We Bronies Dissect the Show, and It's Grrrreat!

One of the hearts of the brony community is the thinkers. The people who behave like scientists and analyze every facet about the show: the characters, atmosphere, episodes, and little references in each episode. Compared to other fandoms (the lone exceptions being possibly Sonic and Harry Potter), this fandom tends to review things from an extremely critical perspective, whether it's positive, neutral, or negative. Sometimes, we do this to a fault where we may occasionally think too much. But k

"Sleepless in Ponyville" Review/Analysis

This was an astounding episode. For Scootaloo's first episode as a central character, it really didn't disappoint. We saw a lot about her:   1. her desire to be Rainbow Dash's protégé   2. her huge fear that was built from those stories   3. her eventual development as a character   4. her athleticism   Of the three Cutie Mark Crusaders, she's the only character to not have that much development. Whenever she was there, she shared the rest of the CMC's role, sometimes not speaking most

"Bob Ross: The Happy Painter" — A review of the biography of the legendary television painter

From 1982 to 1994, Bob Ross produced thirty-one television series based on alla prima, a method that allows painters to paint wet paint on top of each other, particularly thin paint over thicker oil paint. At the start of each show, the canvas will look blank or dull, mostly a white canvas (a black canvas at times). Less than thirty minutes later, Ross paints a beautiful masterpiece. But for him, there needed to be a start. This is the review for the biography of Bob Ross, called Bob Ross: The H

Presidential Election Analysis

I've been watching CNN since the election tallies last night, and as the votes come in, the more we're seeing the demographics come up and the more we're seeing in regards to the strengths of the Obama campaign and weaknesses of both the Romney campaign and the GOP entirely.   First, the weaknesses of the Romney campaign: Its hard-line stance on immigration reform. There is a huge concentration of Latinos located in the southwest and Colorado. About 65 percent of the people said that the ille

The Importance of Gay Pride

In the 1950s and most of the 1960s, non-heterosexuals were shunned and persecuted, resulting in them being forced to live in the closet with only a few small communities to support them. Homosexuals and bisexuals were viewed as a cancer to American society and psychologists. If found out, there was a huge possibility that they would be sent to "reparative" therapy or camps to "cure" these individuals of their homosexuality. Then, on the morning of June 28, 1969, at a small bar called the Stonewa

Chick-Fil-A Saga: September 19-23 — My Reaction

Back in late July/early August, Chick-Fil-A president Dan Cathy admitted to the radio that he donated to charities and churcheswho are both against gay marriage and gay rights altogether. One of the most notorious charities was the Family Research Council, an anti-gay rights hate group who famously lobbied money to not condemn Uganda's bill to execute people just for being gay. This topic was heavily talked about here to the point where it was locked because it was becoming uncivil.   Some of

9/11: Why You Should NOT Forget

Eleven years ago yesterday, a major terrorist attack struck the World Trade Center twin towers and Pentagon (with a fourth plane plunged down in Pennsylvania by passengers who weren't willing to give up a fight and let more people be killed). Once the attacks were over, nearly 3,000 innocent people were murdered. Tens of thousands of people mourned, a whole nation went into pain, and a whole world prayed for the U.S., which is considered to be the focal point of the globe. Normally, the U.S. doe

Why I Do NOT Respect Opinions Unconditionally

Opinions are like fingerprints. Everyone has at least one, and they tend to be unique. They can be popular, unpopular, or controversial. That I don't care about.   But if there is one thing that royally gets my goat is this perception that he or she is entitled to his opinion, especially when this said person is saying something poorly informed or ignorant (i.e., homophobia) as a means of being free from persecution. To echo the quote from my signature:   Just because you express an opinion
