For most people, 1080p should be enough resolution. And on that, even though 4K monitors aren't thousand-dollar monitors anymore, they're still too expensive for most people. Why spend $700 on a monitor with more room than you'll probably ever need when you can get a 1080p monitor for $100 - $150? Sure, it's four times less pixels, but I just don't see 4K being super-practical for most people yet. Hardware needed to run games at that resolution is also a huge investment, too, with it easily requiring thousands of dollars in hardware just to get 30FPS in games. It's out there, but the technology nor users' needs aren't. 1 Link to comment
