Star Wars: Rebels Series Review

Remember a while back (Yesterday), when I said that I wold do a full review of Star Wars Rebels? Well, here it is! Gentleman, welcome back to STAR WARS WEEK! WOOHOO! Because the only thing better than pastel ponies that tell us about love and kindness is watching people shoot lasers at one another. So, grab your Moxie soda and a packet of Ding Dongs, because we are diving in!

In the year of 2008, Lucas Films released a movie known simply as Star Wars, The Clone Wars. It had a lot of mixed reviews, most saying that something like that belonged on a TV show, not a stand alone movie. Well, little did they know that the hour and a half long movie was actually the pilot episode for the upcoming TV show Star Wars, the Clone Wars. The show itself centered between episode 2 and 3, and focused on the Clone Wars. This was probably the first official Star Wars movie and show to come out since the 2003 cartoon, so everyone flocked to it. It aired on Cartoon Network for 5 years, and had grown to have a HUGE fanbase. And I am going to say that I was probably one of the most die hard fans of the series. 3 more seasons were planned out for this amazing show..... until Disney bought Lucas Films. This deal, unfortunatley, cut all ties between Cartoon network and Lucas Films, resulting int he shows cancellation. This left fans distraught, and mostly angry. They blamed Disney for ruining their show. Little did anyone realise that Disney had another show planned. They hired Dave Fioni, the previous director of The Clone Wars, and several writers from the old show. And, with multiple advertisements and a civil war between the fandom, the show Star Wars Rebels was born.

It aired on Disney XD almost 6 months ago, and the fandom had.... mixed results, so to speak. One half said that it was going to suck, because..... Dsiney. The other half thought it was going to be a great show because of all the returning writers and director. I was in the half that said it was goin to be a good show. i like going into things like this with an optimistic expression. So, the show aired, and I have to say that it was pretty good. Different from the Clone Wars, but still good!

It stars a young force-sensetive street urchin by the name of Ezra Bridger who, as a lot of fans have nicknamed him, is a "14 Year old Aladdin". While I can see a resemblance, I just have to say that Ezra has a LOT more character than Aladdin. It also stars an ex-jedi knight by the name of Kanan, a Twilek pilot named Hera, a 15 year old Mandalorian girl named Sabine, and a Lasat Honor Gaurd by the name of Zeb. Together, they are the crew of the Ghost, a ship that is similar, but not as awesome as, the Millenium Falcon.

Season 1 was sort of meant to be the character development portion of the show. We get to find out a little about Ezras backstory, about his hidden hates and how he is conquering his fears in his teachings of becoming a Jedi. We got great character development from Kanan, and find out how he survived Order 66. Hera acts as sort of a motherly figure towards the crew of the Ghost, and it has been hinted that she has a romantic relationship with Kanan (Not official). Sabine also got some character development in this season, but we still have a lot to learn about her. What is her back story? How did she meet the crew of the Ghost? All we know so far is that she was enlisted into the Imperial Academy before deserting. Zeb acts as a brother figure to Ezra, and he got probably the least amount of character development. But he still got character development. He was an honor gaurd on his homeworld before the Empire came and almost exterminated the entire Lasat species. Zeb is only one in a few remainign Lasats left alive.

The villains of the show have been great so far. In the Pilot, we got introduced to the main villain, Agent Kallous. Kallous is an ambitious but strict ISB (Imperial Security Beareu) Agent. His job is to douse out any resistance to the Empire before it sparks into a rebellion. Being that our heros are rebels, this obviously means we see Kallous a lot. We also got introduced to the Inquisitor, whos job is to hunt down any remaining Jedi in the name of Darth Vader. Of course, we never get the Inquisitors real name, and it has now been revealed that there will be other inquisitors in the show. Later int he season we got introduced to everyones favorite villain from Star Wars Episode 4 (Besides vader) Grand Moff Tarkin. He was amazing in his story arc, and it is definitley worth seeing.

I will not reveal any episode spoilers, in case you havnt watched any of them. But I GREATLY encourage you to check the show out. Season 2 is on its way, and it looks amazing. A lot of returning faces from the Clone Wars (Including everyones favorite Clone Trooper!), as well as the first appearance of Darth Vader and, possibly, the Emporer himself. If the last season was made for character development, than this season will be made for the Fire of Rebellion itself. It looks amazing, and hope it will do as good, if not better, than its predecessor.

Well, guys, Thanks for reading! Comment, subscribe to the blog, whatever. I love feedback, and I want to know what I should write next. Whether it is an episode, a fan work, or even a fanfiction, just comment. Each comment submitted will give this cat a watermelon.

Guys, this cat really wants to buy a Rainbow Dash plushie, but cant! In his world, Watermelons are currency. So, each comment given will get this cat one step closer to his plushie. HIS PLUSHIE, DARN IT! THINK OF THE KITTENS. And that is all for today. Oh, and before I forget!

I am starting up a Brony Skype Group! People should join! We will talk about the show, do collabs, and everything else fun in the world! PM me if you are interested. Ok, bye guys, and see you next time.

Interesting. I've been meaning to watch that series for a while now, especially as I enjoyed the Clone Wars CGI one. I may take a swing at it thanks to your review, Juggerpony.

It is super amazing! The finale was also a jaw dropper. The,pilot was kind of meh, but that was because they were introducing the show and whatnot.

I have been watching the show since it aired and so far so good, without spoiling anything too much a key figure in the clone wars pops up in the season finale.
