Type: Public, Owned and Operated by the City of Edmonton
Fleet Size: 969 Low Floor Buses, 94 Light Rail Vehicles
Routes: 209 Regular Bus Routes, 5 Night Bus Routes, 2 Light Rail Lines
Manufacturer and Powerplant: The Edmonton Transit System is unique in that its fleet is predominantly Diesel powered and plans to switch to alternative fuels have been shelved as a cost cutting measure. The System previously hosted a trolleybus network but it was dismantled in 2009 to reduce the $35 Million deficit facing the city. The Edmonton Transit System procures domestically from Canada's heavy vehicle manufacturers New Flyer and Orion. Only a few CNGs and Diesel Electric Hybrids are in service. Several BYD K9 Electric Buses are in service as a pilot to see if the public would be receptive to them.

Livery: Edmonton Transit System buses host a Cerulean and Gray paint scheme shared with its light rail vehicles which also host a white backdrop. The System does sell the sides of its vehicles for advertising space.
