The Nintendo Switch and why I don't like it

We got a lot of questions answered at the Switch presentation, but most of these answers do nothing to make me excited for the system. We have a price tag, $300, which is okay. That is the highest I would ever go with it though so it is a thin line. The hardware seems incredibly Wii U-esque, Nothing impressive. The overall presentation focused a lot on gimmicks rather than games. Yay, motion controls are back once again. Something tells me that this thing will once again be a third party disaster. The battery life is...okay, but that is only okay on the high end, 6 hours. Less than that and I think the system has problems. Sure, the thing has HD RUMBLE (ugh), but that doesn't mean shit if you don't have games to show why it will be great. Speaking of that...

We also seen nothing on backwards compatibility. Nothing about it being able to play Wii U games at all, not even digitally. Even worse, the launch lineup is insanely slim with what, 3 major titles and that's it? Sure, one of them is Zelda, but I am now convinced they delayed Zelda on the Wii U just so it would not interfere with the Switch. Dick move Nintendo. I know the Wii U was a failure, but a lot of people bought the damn thing for this one game and you screw them over. Nice. Also, there was nothing on how external storage would work. With such a limited lineup, I see no reason to just rush out and pre-order.

Then we have a new paid online service, which was announced in probably the most confusing way possible. So we are going to have a free online service until near the end of the year, where it will be paid. I really hope they know what they are doing with that, because Nintendo has never been strong with online services and if they are going the paid route, I want to see substantial improvements.

So in the end, I am just not impressed by this thing at all. I wanted to like it, I really did, but so far, I am seeing literally the Wii U all over again, with some features even missing from that. The new Mario game looks nice, as well as some other announced titles, but almost none of them are launch titles and so far look like nothing that could not be done on the Wii U. I have been immensely disappointed with Nintendo consoles for two gens in a row now, so I cannot help but to be disappointed by this approach. The system seems to lack focus, like all Nintendo consoles now. I love my 3DS, that is such a nice system, but even that will most likely be phased out soon in favor of this...thing.

Oh, pointing out spelling errors? It is a glitch in the chatpad I am using. When I hit the d key and then the o key, for seem reason the d key presses instead of the o, sometimes, no idea why it does that but I tend to miss it. Pointing that shit out makes no sense and is uncalled for.

About the memory: I have over 1tb of it left. That is how many games I have for the system.

About the digital: Because you just know everyone and their preferences? I for one mostly buy games digitally. So...That proves you wrong.

About backwards compatibility: What do you mean piles of cords? The Xbox One backwards compatibility requires no additional hardware whatsoever, so that is entirely a non-issue. Backwards compatibility is a great bonus, especially for the Switch since the Wii U was a failure, but nope, it doesn't have it.

Power is not the focus to Nintendo because they do not have anything to back it up. They would rather rely on stupid gimmicks like waggle motion and HD Rumble. It is a load of shit. Just like the Kinect was a shitty gimmick too and the PS Move.

Also, if you want to start bringing grammar up as an argument, it is a sign to me of who is winning said argument.

*patpat* I'm right behind you buddy. I was right all along to not being hopeful for this console. Now Nintendo is officially dead to me, and with it videogames in general. Now I've become a PC gamer more or less, but other than retrieving all the multiplatform that I KNOW I can like that I missed in the years on Steam (which I already did: bought almost all of them by spending less than 100 euros. Thank you very much Steam Sales!) And also retrieving the third parties games of the recent Nintendo Consoles that I can like (did that already, weren't many), there isn't much left to do for me as gamer.... which is why I enlarged my rules: after the MLP Movie... I won't limit myself to quitting just MLP.... but cartoons and videogames as whole (I've chosen the MLP Movie as relative demarcation line because by then all the few games I already kept on eye should have been released, and all the cartoons I'm watching will be over (save for Miraculous Ladybug, which I will retrieve a year later when the third and last season will be released on Netflix).

So... yeah... this will be pretty much my last year as cartooner AND gamer... yep...

I think I now have to make a blog entry called 'the nintendo switch and why its the best system ever'. Seriously, this is THE FIRST CONSOLE I have been truly excited about... well, actually I have never been more excited for a console. This is the best idea by nintendo!
