Hasbro, Youtube: Rant (Of dire possibilities)

Okay, so a friend of mine was just checking a website that hosts URL videos from youtube of MLP (www.mlp-fim.com) Which is how I found all the full length episodes, but he noted that almost all of the videos are being blocked! Youtube is automatically blocking the videos now due to Hasbro copyright infringement, and I was wondering, why all of a sudden are they deciding to take down the videos?

Alright so assumption time:

Did the Brony community do anything, as of late, that would, for lack of better words, piss off hasbro?

Is Hasbro willing to risk it's largest viewer population?

Is it just Youtube?

Could this just be a standard policy of Internet browsing now? (Which it has been, but now enforced)

Anyways, so if you are like me, you enjoy watching ponies at anypoint in the day without question. That means you use the Internet for it. So are they finally restricting it to television?

Tell me your thoughts....

PS- This could be me freaking out for nothing, but it's happening so...

They're doing it because China won't buy the rights to broadcast MLP on TV when the episodes are available online for free. That's what I heard, at least.

I remember hearing something about Hasbro having trouble selling the series in China due to everything being online for free. This may or may not be accurate though. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon.

Ah, okay that makes sense too.

Well if that's two people, then we probably have our culprit.  We can only hope that China will pay for it, or get removed from viewing them :P (Not to sound rude)

If that's the case, then why are they being blocked everywhere? Youtube has the ability to block certain ISPs from watching videos based on location, why not just block China?

Good point... This could get ugly :o

Even when a company is lenient they need to occasionally go around and stamp down on some things to keep their copyright. There's been vast waves of take-downs of episodes and such since the fandom began, I wouldn't start worrying about it unless it's still going on, full force, a month or two from now.

You have a point.. but there are proxies that get around YouTube blocks. The same can be said for any Internet website, it might take some time, but it is possible.

It is upsetting, but Hasbro has done a lot to get ponies in our hands, with DVDs, Boxsets, and re-airing older episodes, I think its fair. They're not like ShoPro who take down videos and never release DVDs or anything of the series, like Hamtaro...
