Hi, how are you? Please, pull a chair, sit down with me and let's have a chat.

So this was originally going to be posted back in March, but I scrapped the whole thing because I didn't jive with it. I tried having a structure, but that didn't work, so I'm going with I'm good at. That's just typing whatever comes to my head. I know like two people will read this, but if you do, I appreciate it.

We have finally returned to form. We are back in business at last. I figured I may as well finally blow off the dust on this blog and maybe try having a serious discussion.

So, first thing. I just noticed that I've almost been on this forum for five and a half years. Like, wow. I know that's probably nothing compared to some other users on here, but I honestly still can't believe I can be considered an older member. Anyways, from the title, I imagine you're confused. How could've I returned when I was already here?

So I guess I'll start by saying that I was barely here last year. Yeah, I still appeared every now and then and posted in random threads, but in terms of being apart of the community itself, not really. It's kind of been like that for a few years now. Not because of any disdain towards the forum, but rather me setting out and striving to conquer my own mental health issues and needing to grow as an individual. Both are things that I can confidently say that I succeeded in, but the fact is, I still didn't have much of a presence here anymore. Around March, I came to the realisation that I did really miss this place. Perhaps I was feeling nostalgic for those days where I'd spend hours in the WPCC lounge, (Remember that?!) or having my notification box being spammed by Tacodidra every five minutes, but I did genuinely miss it. I've tried Discord servers and other social outlets online, but truthfully, they never felt as homely or as connected as MLP Forums. Forums are definitely an older relic of the Internet in current year, but there was this charm that nothing else could really replicate.

I eventually decided to put on my big boy pants and came back with the clear goal to try and weasel my way back into this community. It was daunting at first. The community has changed significantly since my prime in 2018. So much smaller in size and so many new faces at the same time. I felt the exact same way I did when I made my first thread in the Welcome Plaza years ago. Regardless, I didn't back down and after a month and a half, I can happily say that I feel like I'm truly back. Sharing art in the fanclubs again, having a laugh in the forums games, openly making fun of the people who can remove me in less than a minute. It's been remarkable and it brings me so much joy to know that even after all these years, this forum is still as welcoming and as wonderful as it always was. Because of that I'm planning to stick around long-term, so better get used to my face.

So yeah, that's really it. On the subject of ponies, since that's the name of the game, I haven't seen much of G5 other than the movie. I've been re-watching Friendship is Magic since before I came back, so once I've seen the first couple of seasons, I'll tackle the new stuff and finally be able to contribute. Moving forward I also might try and do more with this blog. I could talk about Pony related stuff, or maybe anime and other shows. I still don't know at this point. I never really had any direction with this blog and I still don't. I guess some things never change, huh. :laugh:

I'm right there with you @Cash In. I was here and on staff back from 2014-2016 and then poofed for ages and always missed MLPF and stuck my butt back into the place a few weeks back. Also wanna re-watch FiM and then get into all the G5 stuff since all I've seen is the movie. (Hopefully I'll get there before I get too spoilered on everything ^^)

Anyway good to have you here! <3 I've been having a ton of fun making your life miserable in Count Until a Mod Posts. Hopefully we get to hang out there a lot... frequently... always and forever :D

@Simon We've both had our big comebacks it seems haha. Yeah, I've wanted to re-watch FiM for a long time, but I never got around to it until recently. Still, good to have you back as well. :)

Oh, I know you've been enjoying resetting our counter. But don't party just yet. You haven't won the war. :sneer:

This might be a bit late, but still: Welcome back, my friend! :yay: This is the season of comebacks, really.

I joined a few months before you did, and I have the same feeling – has it really been almost six years? When I joined, I had no idea I'd still be active more than half a decade later. :rarity: I'm glad to hear things have gone well for you – hopefully they will get even better soon! :eager:

I hope you enjoy G5 when you start watching it! Like a lot of people, I wouldn't put it at the same level as G4, but I've still found it enjoyable. Any of those ideas you mentioned would be interesting. :squee:

And thanks for the shout-out! :ButtercupLaugh: Those were the days – I think I brohoofed and replied to almost every status for two years or so. I can't promise to spam brohoofs as often as I did back then, but an occasional brohoof flood can be expected. :sneer:

I didn't either! I figured this would've been one of those sites that I'd hang around for like a week and eventually completely forget about. Glad that's not the case for both of us. :)

Hopefully! I've heard some good things at the very least about G5. I did enjoy the movie though, so it's already left a good first impression on me. :grin:

Haha, I knew you'd read this. I still remember the first time I ever directly talked to you was because you kept flooding me with broohoofs. :ButtercupLaugh:

I've never really been the kind of person to completely leave a forum, but usually my activity just fades (often along with that of the rest of the community), eventually getting to the point where I visit once a year or so. But with MLP... Not the first time I'm posting this today, but I think describes the experience of joining the fandom well:

A lot of people have said the series didn't quite live up to the movie. But funnily, for me it was completely the other way around. The movie was watchable but a bit underwhelming (maybe the inevitable G4 comparisons played a part) – MYM brought my interest back. :D

I remember that happening with several people (and it got to the point where there were memes about my brohoof spamming). :ButtercupLaugh: In my early days, I kind of felt guilty when I received brohoofs but didn't give them to others. I think it's safe to say I've made up for that since then. :laugh:

Really, that's quite interesting actually. But yeah, everyone kind of pitted the G5 movie against the G4 one when that came out. I liked both though. I am looking forward to giving MYM a go! :)

Still can't believe it's been five years! We both have grown quite a lot in that time. I know we haven't talked much in a while, but I do still consider you a friend and one of the first I had on this forum. :adorkable:
