So after some time and some talk with the amazing artist behind this pieces I deiced to make a little journal on the development of a series of characters for a fic Im developing. This is both on the personality, character development and back-story as well as the graphic design behind them ant as gentlecolts to start we have a mare. Here is Freedom Gale of the four corners.

To design her as well as all my OC's I had to firts picture a concept. For her was wilderness and attached to it Freedom. That concept lead to her backstory, being raised in the wilderness with few contact with other ponies, a strong independent mare that values a lot the nature that is her home. Hence she has problems with the authority and has rebellion flowing in her veins.

After that it was time to share the thoughts with the artist, an amazing talented dood (To-nio click for his DA)that brought the traits of the character into what I wanted. With a close communication and a dedicated step by step process he was able to bring the pictures of my mind to the paper... or screen.

The idea of a strong character able to care for herself was a key always keeping her concept and back-story percent the artist was able to find the expression pose mane and colors to fit her well. With close feedback we were able to find the perfect design using details like the feathers and leaf on her mane to show her connections with nature and at the same time give her some particular Identity without overloading the character and keeping her possible to the world of MLP
