Smile HD

Why is everyone getting so offended over this? It isn't that bad and graphic, it's probably on the same level as Metalocalypse, or lower.

Personally I laughed at how Fluttershy was the one who put up the best fight against Pinkie.

It's grimdark, but it's for random humor, like Happy Tree Friends, which I find worlds' more tolerable than BS trollfics like Cupcakes and Rainbow Factory which just try to tug on your heartstrings by slaughtering characters with no rational plot.

Smile HD > Cupcakes & most grimdark in the fandom

Well, for me it was way too shocking and bloody, seeing that someone animated Pinkie kicking Twilight's head off, murdering Rarity, and beating up Applejack for no reason whatsoever was just not something my heart could take, and that is why it offended me. :/

Because many people aren't fans of seeing their favorite characters from a TV show lacking any semblance of real violence having their brains bashed in. It's a very normal and well-merited reaction, IMO. Metalocalypse and Happy Tree Friends, on the other hand, are canonically gory, not *fanonically* gory, so they get an obvious pass.

Regardless, I'm just not a fan of having gore for the sake of gore - something I personally find to be the Diet Coke of dark humor. In much the same way that jump scares/screamers are the margarine of fear, slasher films are the Bud Light of horror movies...the analogies go on. Hell, even a pie in the face does more for comedy than gorefests do for grimdark, but...eh. That's just me.

Just goes to show, you can't please 'em all...but hey, if it makes you feel any better, the one nice thing I can say about Smile HD is that the animation is superb.post-14546-0-63164600-1368411649.png

Smile HD was just too gory for me. Don't mistake my stand--I actually love seeing the ponies becoming the antithesis of themselves and going absolutely nuts. But this was just going overboard for me. It's much too dark. Nevertheless, it seems that the video was pretty pointless, save the gore. Without being gory, the video has no lot in life and would just go largely unnoticed. And I agree with Thrashy--I don't really like gore just for the sake of having gore. It makes me physically sick. I mean, if there's a reason for the gore, then I don't mind it. For example, classic Resident Evil games. Control layout made it hard to move around and blood made it freaking creepy. Especially since I was like 8 when I played it for the first time. Seeing Jill Valentine die in a gory, pixelated mess was freaking scary. But that's all gore is good for, IMO. If it's there just to be there, I don't really like it.

Of course, I should have expected gore considering it was made by the same guy who made Cupcakes.

I personally was not expecting this when I first started the video. I was like "Oh this is a pretty cool song while pinkie is running around." But after she just plain out punches Twilight's lights out (including her head) it was a little too much for me. I mean sheesh do you have to be that gory to show that Pinkie is psycho?

It also sucks that I cannot listen to that awesome song without remembering that video. Grr :(

I think the video is disgusting. I hate grimdark and I hate gory stuff. And it really bothered me to see what happened to Dashie...it made me sick.

The video should have come with a legitimate warning. I could have avoided so much unpleasantness and I didn't even make it past the Twilight decapitation.  If people want to post and watch that sort of thing, that's fine. I'm not going to demand they be sensored just because I don't like it.

I accept the fact things like Cupcakes and Rainbow Factory exist and would have accepted the existance of Smile HD as well as long as I don't have to watch it. What offends me the most is that I feel like I was tricked into watching it because there was no real warning prior. If I could have read a warning and made the decision to avoid the video, I would have no issue. Now I'm stuck with the image of my favorite pony's decapitated head in my mind and the anxiety attacks I feel whenever I'm reminded of it.
