  A light brown, asian pony with a curved horn. Sometimes wears traditional clothing. Known for wearing red armor into major battle situations.

• Backstory

  Born and raised in Japon, he has sworn his loyalty to Princess Celestia and Equestria, wishing to protect the land and the citizens that are precious to him.
  His birth name is Crimson Gauntlet. Many called him Taku for short. However, he became known simply as Samurai Equine when he rose up in the ranks and became the dedicated soldier that he is today.

  When he learned he had a natural talent for combat and tactical skills, he swung his sword and created a slice mark shaped like an X.
  His cutie mark reflects this.

  Canonically, he is from the feudal era, or the medieval past. However, if it's necessary for the roleplay, he can be from modern times instead.

   The Running of the Leaves (2024) Race Event!

   November 29

   "I'm always happy to help!" Samurai says happily, ready to share this race with Chatterbox.
   STEPS: 16
   LEAVES: 8
   All at once, something strange was happening, and it wasn't just the suddenly repeating change from day to night. Samurai could sense a strange, chaotic aura. "What is... AH!!" Samurai doesn't have time to properly react to the threat he feels. Instead, he runs ahead, collecting as many of these wild bunnies as possible and redirecting them back into the wild, completely unaware that they've been turned crazy by Discord's magic.
   Samurai notices the fallen cart and scattered apples up ahead. "Taihen da!" If saving rabbits wasn't enough, Samurai uses his unicorn magic to levitate and move as much of the obstacles out of the way. He has every intent of following the sign to the shortcut, but not before making sure the path is as safe for the racers as possible.
   ...Or, at least Samurai WAS planning to take the short cut, until he notices all the signs. "Eh?! Nani?! Sonna baka na koto!"
   Samurai will end up stopping a moment to try and figure out which way to go. "...Maybe I should have been a traffic cop instead."
    
   STEPS: -8
   But sensing yet another magic that makes his spine crawl, Samurai turns back. As much as he wants to go chasing after Shiny right now, instead, he focuses on those that need him most.
   Using his helmet to help protect his ears, he moves in to give Kamathia a playful boop on the nose. "I saw this in a cartoon once."
   He also goes over to check and help Titanium (@Wizard), summoning his fire magic to rapidly thaw her out and warm her back up. "Please work..."

   November 28

   Samurai laughs and blushes a little. "I never imagined being hugged like this~!" He hugs Chatterbox back. "By the way, if you are trying to call me Darling, the best word to use is Anata. I would deeply appreciate it, kanojo." Samurai says.
   After a quick cuddle, Samurai dusts off his dazzling red armor and looks at Chatterbox. "What do you say, Chat-chan? Will you run beside me this time?"

   Steps: 13
   Leaves: 1
   Samurai runs up while humming a tune, but sees Kramathia (@Rethajni) and @Shiny Silvermoon entraining each other. "...Did you know that phoenixes typically fly south in the fall? They get a head start on other flying, migrating creatures in this regard. It's like they instinctually know that the leaves are falling and don't want to accidentally cause any forest fires." Samurai says to any pony that will listen. "Hey Kramathia, look up Phoenix Migration Patterns. Where do they usually go this time of year?" Samurai asks, while also turning to give Chatterbox a sly wink.

   November 25

   STEPS: 16 (No bonus)
   LEAVES: 8
   Samurai runs and increases his speed as much as possible, always on the look out for danger. He notices the unique way some racers move. He is almost mesmerized by Kramathia's electronic dance. He waves at Chatterbox, but it probably goes ignored since he is behind.
   But along the way, Samurai randomly picks up some of the leaves, origami's them into little cranes, and starts throwing them. "Fly, my little birds! Fly!"

   The Running of the Leaves (2024) Race Event!

   November 24

   Samurai runs peacefully, ready to keep his eye open for dangers.
   However, he soon sees the path ahead covered in chocolate cake batter. "Eh?! Nandarou?! Son'na..." Samurai closes his eyes and tries to grind to a halt on the batter, but he just ends up slipping and sliding, until he goes into a tumble. With each toss and roll, he becomes more covered in the batter, until he is practically crying out in agony. And then finally, he falls into the sinkhole, where he falls in a very specific way...
   STEPS: 16
   LEAVES: 6
   However, Samurai soon pops his head up, bewildered. "...Oh. It's not that bad. I thought it was water for a second there." Picking himself up, Samurai leaps out of the sinkhole, uses his magic to clean his armor off, and keeps running like nothing happened!

   Samurai salutes once he knows Moonlight is all right, glad to hear it.

   Deciding to take a chance, Samurai speeds up instead of slowing down, adding the speed he gained from earlier in his attempt to help a pony in need. "Not sure if I can catch up at this point, but I refuse to use magic to give me an edge."

   November 22

   Samurai notices what appears to be another racer tripping and falling. He builds up as much speed as he can...
   
   It's not a lot of speed, probably won't break too far from last place, but maybe he can at least get in shouting distance. "Hey!! Are you okay over there?! Need any help?!"
   As Samurai does his best to race, he contemplates his position. "Hmm... I don't need to win. Don't even want to win. But I do want to cheer for Chat-chan. And I do want to help any pony or creature in danger. Perhaps I'd be of more help further up the course than in dead last."

   November 21

   Samurai gladly hugs Silver before watching him race ahead, waving. "Ganbatte, my friend!"
   Knowing Samurai helped a friend fills him with determination.
   The kiss leaves Samurai stun locked, unable to move as Chatterbox races ahead.
   But just before he can fall over, Samurai smiles wide and leaps for joy! His fire magic builds, and he fires it off from his horn and far into the sky, creating fireworks for all to see. "Woohoo!! Arigato, Kami-sama!"
   (@Dynamo Pad Don't worry, the fireworks are going off at a MUCH higher altitude. Starlight, Trixie, and their balloon would not be in harms way. At best, they'd just get a little spooked.)

   Getting back on task, Samurai dusts off his armor before running ahead. But he doesn't use his built up speed to pass anypony. He only uses it to help clear away leaves. He'll only advance from last place if he sees a pony or creature in trouble, or if he sees some other good dead he can do. "Seigi wa SPEED zenkai!"

   November 20

   "I'll give you flowers. And I'll gladly be your prize anytime." Samurai says.
   "Dance with me?" Offering a hoof, he stands upright with Chatterbox and starts to ballroom dance down the race track. After a few loops together, Samurai guides Chatterbox into a twirl, followed by a dip. Getting back up, they freestyle slide and boogie. "You got the moves, Chat-chan. Now let's see if you can win this race." Samurai says with a flirtatious wink.
   Samurai hears a cry for help. "Did somepony say police?" Samurai looks around, ready to leap in to help a pony in danger.

    November 19

    Samurai starts by walking, then gets fast, and faster, until he finally runs forward!
    🎵 Habatake sora e takaku maiagare
    RESCUE FIRE GO! Isoge!
    RESCUE FIRE! HURRY UP!!
    Like an anime opening sequence, the camera cuts and swoops around Samurai Equine as he begins to pick up speed, until he finally leaps into the air and strikes and epic action pose, where it freeze-frames before cutting to the next scene...
    Hashiridase yami o tsukinukero RESCUE yonde'ru ze
    Mukaikaze ni kao o agero soshite me o hirake
    Dakishimero chiisana sakebi o RESCUE bokura wa ima
    Ai no tame hitotsu ni nareru hazu sa
    As Samurai runs, for a moment it looks like everything around him is still. He admires the falling trees like an anime character admiring falling cherry blossom petals. It is followed by a character card shot of Samurai showing a full-on shot, profile shot, and a head shot of his confident face. In the next shot, Samurai stops dead in his tracks to see the expanding track and the obstacles before him. However, he simply takes off his firefighter helmet and firefighter jacket before rushing forward.

    In a collage of dynamic camera shots, we see the various other racers. Some are leading the race, some are catching up, and some are falling behind. However, what they don't see are the dangers they face. And so, Samurai stops once more to concentrate and harness his magic. "Henshin!" As quick as the count of 1-2-3, Samurai magically summons his red samurai armor, and he is instantly equipped. Samurai strikes a fighting pose before once more rushing forward!
    RESCUE FIRE Itsu de mo kimi no soba ni iru yo
    Kurekakaru ano sora o ashita e tsunagu tame ni
    RESCUE FIRE Kimi ga nozomu nara
    Doko e datte kaketsukeru ze
    Moeru yuuki no RESCUE FIRE! Isoge! GO!
    Once Samurai is able to catch up to other races, he does NOT use his speed to gain a better spot on the race. Instead, he uses it to rescue! He rolls in front of racers to save any helpless animals from being trampled so that he can guide them back into the wilderness safely. If Samurai sees any large branches, hidden rocks, or any other obstacles that races could trip on, he leaps in to get them out of the way. If a tree should fall, Samurai will be there to catch it and redirect it so that it won't fall on the race course nor any of the racers. And if a racer like @Slipstream should run into a tree or if Silver Slate (@GeneralDirection) should trip on a tree root, Samurai will run in to pick them back up and dust them off before dashing away to help yet another pony in need.

    Doing all this rescue and safeguarding has Samurai leaping back and fourth. And if he can prevent any pony from falling or any animal from getting hurt, then he will do so! And when racing pathway is clear of danger, or as clear as he can get it, Samurai runs back to last place and strikes the same fighting pose from earlier, showing that this is all the victory he needs. "Explosively Complete!"

    Though as Samurai resumes his half of the race, it's possible most of this was all in his mind. But helping animals and saving racers whenever possible was very much real!

    He is still wearing his shining red armor. But a familiar voice catches his attention. "Ah! Chat-chan! Did you lap me all ready, or did you decide to join me?" Samurai asks, happy to see her again.

   Storyline:
   As your OC arrives at the gathering spot, they can see the starting line, a hot air balloon, empty seats to sit in the crowd, as well as other ponies gathering to either watch or participate.
   There are serval things that you can do in this situation.
   They are able to:
   Interact with other participants taking part in the race.
   Head on over to Dynamo Pad, who's standing near a desk full of numbers to hand out to the participants.
   Do something else.
   It's completely up to your OC on what you'd like to do, before the race begins. Once everyone has their numbers, everyone can line up at the starting line for the race to begin.

   As you all make your way towards the location of the race for this years, Running of the Leaves. You can see many things when taking a look around the area. Bleachers for spectators, a pink hot air balloon tied to a post sitting and ready to fly. Ponies and other creatures begin to make their way over to take their seats. Popcorn, cotton candy and other delectable treats and beverages in their possession.
   Meanwhile, the host of the event, Dynamo Pad, is looking around frantically to make sure that he has everything he needs for the race. "O-Okay, let's see. Number paper for everypony to wear to give out their numbers in the race? Check! Commentators to have a bird's eye view of the race? Check! Everything set up in perfect condition to meet racing requirements?" He asks, looking around to see the starting line, banners and everything one could think of for this year's Running of the Leaves. "Check!" He exclaimed, checking off each box to make sure nothing was out of place. "Okay! All we need now are the participants and then we'll be all ready to go. I just hope that everything works out." He took a breath as he tried to exhale slowly. He would be lying if he was saying that he was perfectly calm. He could feel his heart racing a mile a minute and he wasn't even taking part in the race. He would keep repeating a mantra in his head that everything would be fine and to take things one step at a time.

   The Town That Friendship Forgot

   It's not printed on any map ever sold.
   It doesn't show up on any magical maps ever created.
   Not even Princess Twilight knows it exists.
   Still, if you ever choose to leave home...
   If you are trying to find a place to belong, and no other location seems to work for you...
   If you are brave enough to just let your heart lead the way, get past the forests, the fog, and follow a beaten dirt road...
   Then maybe you two can find a huge town called Friendshire.
   Here, anyone can get a second start at life.
   It's a large town that wants for nothing, but it sure could use more citizens.
   It could really use the magic of friendship, but more then that, it could really use some help.

   In his own house, the only asian-themed house on his block, Samurai Equine is busy. In his own make-shift workshop, he has notes and string strung about, random tools on a desk, and more. He is looking at a small metal box with a lot of mechanical, steampunk-style parts all over it.
   "...Nearly a year of toying with this magic contraption, and still no answers! What am I missing?!" Samurai says in frustration as he randomly turns dials, twists a crank, and flips a switch with his hoof. And then... It activates! Part of the box opens up near the top, and magically projects an image. "I did it?! I did it! Wait, is that... I recognize that! It's the front gate!" In a rush, Samurai puts on his formal attire and runs out while holding the box under his arm.
   Meanwhile, at the front of the town, just past a sign that says "Welcome to Friendshire", lies a both just to the side of the main road.
   Inside this booth is a census pony, wearing a fancy jacket and hat that makes him look more like a bellhop.
   He is just sitting in there, bored out of his mind, until Samurai runs up. "Excuse me! Sorry to bother you, but has any pony come this way?" He asks. The census pony shakes his head. "Nope. Not a soul in years. No pony leaving, and no pony arriving either. The population has been stuck at the same number for who knows how long..."
   Samurai looks at his box again, the magical projection gone for now. "I think this thing is telling me that we really need to start increasing the populace. But how? How do we attract more ponies into living her?" He asks himself, looking up in to the slightly foggy distance and trying to brain storm some ideas.
   Little did he know, they wouldn't have to wait for very long...
