  1. Personally, I find that it's not how many brohooves that a post happens to obtain that constitutes its merrit, but rather who happens to brohoof a particular post.

Regardless, I feel as though brohooves work well as an indication of agreement, humour, wit, commendation, or even of consolation. But as an indication of rank or a form of high standing? Given the features varying applications, I feel as though it would be a little out of place.

  2. Heya Silverhoof,

I think you'll find that this topic will answer your questions regarding vector graphics in considerable detail. :)

If you'd like a shorter summary however, a vector graphic is essentially the use of a group of points, lines, curves, and shapes to represent an image. Because a vector graphic is created by using set lines and joins (refered to as paths and anchors), the images can be resized without reducing the quality of the image.

  3. It must have been me. I must have thrown him o'er the edge. What with all my bullshit I was pulling yesterday.

I think you'll find that putting up with bullshit is simply par for the course for us. :P

In any case, enjoy your respite, Zoop - you've more than earned it. Just promise me you'll return before I inevitably snap and start murdering everyone.

  4. Frankly, I see MLP Forums as the forum equivalent as Apple. We have our visionary, Feld0, his flawless design team, and the protective moderating team.

Thanks for the positive feedback Dylan! Glad to hear that the aesthetic qualities of the forums are to your liking; I know that when I first stumbled across the forums prior to their launch, it was the canon style art (originally designed by Grendo) and cleanly structured layout that caught my attention, and kept me here long enough for me to fall in love with the rest of the place. ^^

Feld0 placed allot of effort into maximising the emphasis on post content itself to prospective members (such as the removal of visible signatures and brohoof counts to guests), as well as removing any unnecessary clutter for those who register on the site, so it's much appreciated when people acknowledge such efforts.

We're always looking to improve upon the forums overall form and function where possible, so you can expect more positive changes to come. :)

  5. iPhone 4 here. As much as I hate to admit it, I'd find it pretty difficult to live without. Nothing too fancy in the way of apps - RSS feed, dictionary, IM clients, uni texts, and note syncing is about all I have, though I use them on a daily basis.

And of course, the forums, though the latest bugs make for some unusual browsing.

  6. Sometimes I only need a sentence or so to make a point. I don't want to have to add another sentence repeating my point to artificially lengthen my post every time. It just seems like an annoyance to me.

Perhaps this will put things into perspective:

This here is an example of exactly one hundred characters (not including any BB code or white text).

That's it! A single sentence - Less than that of a tweet, and even less if you happen to include images, font formatting, smileys, hyperlinking, or quotes. I think you'll find that summing up your thoughts in a single sentence is still very much possible, without the need for any unnecessary twaddle. :)

  7. Well, ideally, the mods will realize who is using formatting tricks or random things at the end of a post to get away with posting something concise AND relevant and not moderate them.

To quote straight from the mod Skype chat:

Have no fear - common sense shall be utilised when it comes to moderating posts under the content limit. :)

  8. I didn't own a microwave during the first year after I moved out, so cold leftovers from the previous night became a typical mid-week meal for me.

Can't say I prefer it to freshly cooked food, though admittedly there are a few cases where I'll lazily opt for a meal that hasn't been reheated, such as Lasagna.

  9. 1. Praise the forums/their staff/their decisions

    2. Be black/a woman in the Picture Thread

    3. Be a mod/Feld0 and post something.

    4. Post a meme made on memegenerator relating to something on the forums

    5. Insult Tom the Diamond and Trixie within the same post

    6. Find a way to insert ponies in a Everfree Forest thread that actually relates to the topic

    7. DIY brohoofs. Because I'm an ass ^^

  10. It's just that this was a sudden, overwhelmingly major addition to the site so of course it was bound to rustle some jimmies.

    Jimmies shall be rustled.

Call me a little work-shy here, but I'm not going to attempt to justify any of the concerns brought up in this thread just yet. Most (if not all) of the factors that people have brought to the table - from concerns regarding complete and utter overkill to moderator bias - are completely understandable, and to toss them aside would be a half-baked decision to say the least. However, to act solely on conjectures wouldn't be the best move in the world either. While I can't speak for the other moderators or administrators, throughout the next week or so, I'll be working with the new mods to make sure they delete content only when necessary, ask the rest of the team when they find themselves uncertain as to whether content should be removed or locked, and ensure that they don't go around deleting posts out of context, consequently causing another jimmy rustling session like we've seen today.

    if I comment

"Canada or gtfo ;)" as a cute little joke on a thread about where 'you' live.

Don't be surprised when I become confused.

"It doesn't have enough substance." That's an opinion.

Personally, I find posts such as these to be perfectly fine, and I can completely agree that small light-hearted posts are fine to stay. It's only posts that contribute absolutely nothing to a given conversation that I give the flick, such as your stock standard "lol", "this" or "tl;dr". Admittedly, the line between content that's considered acceptable, and content that's deemed out of context tends to become a little grey as the number of individuals moderating the forums increases. Conversely however, now that we have focused team available to compare and contrast their opinions on content, we can aim to have collective decisions made about what stays and goes, as opposed to relying on a single individuals discretion, which more often than not leads to some rather thorny difference of opinions.

Everything considered, it's still early days. Just like our first batch of moderators, please be so kind as to give us a few days to a week to get everyone settled, on the same page and working with each other, and if we're still having major issues, we'll work openly from there.

  11. Ponies wearing socks, ponies in socks, ponies wearing sweaters, ponies with juice-boxes, ponies in vehicles, ponies with wet manes... just one of the many art fads that have sprung up over the fandoms progression. Usually, they stem from a particular piece of art showcased on Deviantart, and then proceed to spread across Tumblr, and pony imageboards before showing up on EqD drawfriend posts, for anyone else who isn't aware of their existence. Ponies in socks is one of the older fads, starting around February in 2011. Why? Probably because allot of people consider ponies wearing socks, along with other articles of clothing to be pretty damn 'D'aww' worthy, and honestly, I'm inclined to agree with them. ^^

As for the sexualisation of a few images, well, that's just the way of the internet for you.

  12. There's a been a handful of wacky moments around here, that's for sure. A couple that stick out to me would be.

    • Our first major troll attack back sometime in November/December. Nobody with moderator powers was online for hours. Chaos ensured.
    • When Finest and Lurpy went through their mass-posting rampages. Simultaneously.
    • Some of the Skype roleplays I managed to stumble into, and couldn't stumble back out of.
    • Every argument I ever had with Shadrahk.
    • The day Feld0 chained me to a desk and made me start filing reports.

  13. O here. Unsure as to whether I'm Rhesus positive or negative though - most likely positive. Regardless, huzzah for possibly being a universal donor and all, though I don't actually qualify for donations unfortunatley. =
