  1. "Thanks Zeta." Hearth said with a nod. He turned back to Grand, smiling pleasantly. "Nothin' is gonna happen t' anyone. We're a team. We're gonna get through this together." He said moving his hoof from her shoulder to her hoof. He stood up. "Ah'm gonna go and scout the area, look for shortcuts to where we're headed. Ah won't go too far, so if'n ya need anything just holler."
  2. "Ah think Zeta's just a little dehydrated from the battle. Zeta, you should get some water, and after ya get some rest please clean up some of the trotter bodies." Hearth says. He turns back to Grand and tilts his head. "It's not yer fault ya know. I don't think any of us could've stopped what happened." He put a hoof on her shoulder. "Yer not gonna become one of those things. Ah promise, ah won't let it happen."
  3. "Ah'm wonderin' now, about somethin' personal. How're ya handlin' the whole deal with this Starburst business?" Hearthsong asked, hoping that he was subtle enough not to alert Grand to what had happened. "Ah mean, we're all takin' it hard. How're YOU doin' though?" He asked sitting down.
  4. Hearthsong saw that subtlety was getting her nowhere, he had to push a little. He trotted up and walked next to Grand. "So, how are you? That was an intense battle, these last few days have been pretty intense." He had a thought. "You said ah could ask ya about anything right?"
  5. "Just stop talking before I put you in a real headlock." Hearth whispers harshly as he stands up. "So, maybe we SHOULD go and see how Missy's doing, you can never be too careful now that so much has happened." Hearth said trying to sound as casual as possible. His mind was always reeling, but surprisingly clear now. As though he'd gotten over some past trauma.
  6. Hearthsong slid his way over to Zeta with a convincing smile on his face. He essentially punched Zeta in the shoulder and pulled him into a 'playful' headlock. "Oh Zeta, QUIT jokin' around." He said enunciating the word quit. ((Filler flour flew to flagon flyswatters))
  7. Hearth put his hoof back and held Stephan back. "Do not tell her what happened, she has to figure it out for herself. If you tell her, she might lose it again." He trotted after Grand and motioned to the rest of the group by moving his hooves across his neck in a crossing motion.
  8. "That's not somethin' that most ponies would do. Ah'm lost right now." He whispered to himself. His mind raced and his thoughts clouded, he was tongue tied. He was getting frustrated, until a voice in his head whispered something. 'It's not your fault.' "..." He finally knew what to say. "It's not yer fault!! It isn't none of us could've stopped that boy from dyin' It's time to stop beatin' yer self up over it and move on." He shouted
  9. Hearthsong simply stood completely still as she ran. He felt awful, he suffered with her. He knew exactly what she was going through. "This is exactly what happened when mah daughter died. Ah completely lost it. She can't see anything as she should, and her thoughts are contrary to how she would normally act." He said before following Stephan into the cave. He stood next to Stephan, he just didn't have any words.
  10. "Haha, idiots. Ah'm one pony." He said as he lept through the air, barely catching himself on an overhanging ledge as the trotters he was running from collapsed into a blob in a molten lava pit. He looked at the few that were left. He hopped down and finished them swiftly. "Rest all the tired dead, yer rest has finally come." He said solemnly before running back to the cave in remembrance of Missys predicament. "Is everything al...." He stopped his words dead as he saw what had happened. He looked at Grand who was still terrified. He took her by the shoulders and held her completely still. "It's alright. Everything's gonna be fine." He said gently. He pulled her into a hug recognizing her minds shattered state.
  11. Hearth essentially gave up the fight. "Not mah friends you don't." he essentially hopped up and began running on the heads of the trotters. "You want somethin' worth fightin'? Come on and get me then!" he shouted, attracting the attention of a large denomination of the horde. He began to run, whooping and shouting as he did so, pulling the trotters he'd gotten the attention of with him.
  12. ((The 1700's era, when guns first became the norm, so everything is powder based.)) Hearth continues to kill the bandits, knowing what horrors they could inflict if you were alive. He refused to go down without fighting. "Picked the wrong pony to try and rob." he said as half of their group was dead or fleeing.
  13. Hearth was getting a little bit enraged at the endless waves of trotters. He killed one, another, four, then ten, then 20. He decided that it was time to use a little something he'd been saving for a little while. "No more mister nice-pony." he yelled. He cut a trotter just above the rib cage. Holding it still, he lit a stick of dynamite, and popped it in. He kicked the trotter into a horde clear of anyone on the group. BOOM!!!! It obliterated nearly half of the hostiles in the area. ((Sorry, about the overkill if it's not what you want. If not just tell me.))
  14. Hearth sprinted up and body checked them very easily. He hit one with the butt of his gun and stabbed another in the head with his bayonet. He turned to the one he'd hit and shot it in the eye. He turned to Missy and held out a hoof to help her up. "Ya alright?" he asked her.
  15. Hearth took a shot and as soon as one was down, he'd slay another. His bayonet was sharp and steady, and when he had the chance, he'd reload and pop off another shot. One got in close enough to grab him, but it was no match for him. He placed the wood finish against its throat and pinned it against a wall. He pushed until the head popped off and onto the floor as though it had been there for a long time. He took no pride in his killing, knowing that these were once ponies with lives.
  16. "Hey, we're gonna get through this." he heard his own words and took them to heart. "We are going t' get through this. I know it." he said with a little bit of reassurance in himself. His gun at the ready, he pulled it to his chest. For a moment the seemed like a family, albeit a dysfunctional one.
  17. Hearth went to go talk to Grand about what had happened after his encounter with the Magma Goliath. He saw exactly what she saw. He spoke calmly but firmly. "Grand, go get the others, tell them to pack up the things and start running for wherever their going." He knew that things would move slower if they panicked. He slid on a muzzle cap and began to fire, taking out the closest ones first.
  18. Hearth returned just in time to hear Missy call him injured. "No, give the water to Zeta, ah can handle mahself just fine on my own." he said with a no nonsense attitude. 'I'm strong enough to know when to and when to not drink water.' "Ah don't need it is all ah'm sayin' Heh."
  19. Hearth noticed how much conversation was going on. This wasn't for him, there was a reason he lived far from everything. He snuck away to somewhere secluded in the cave. He decided that he needed to get stronger. Hearthsong found a pair of rocks near each other. He took off his hat and placed it nearby on the ground. He grabbed the rocks on the wall and began to pull himself up and down, counting each and every rep, thinking things to get his adrenaline pumping. 'You've got to be stronger, now more than ever. It's your fault that you've lost people before, it's not going to be your fault this time.'
  20. "Well, ah like the idea of moving at night. And as much as ah hate to break it t' ya'll, we're probably gonna have to sleep in dug out caves in the sand, because there'll be some moisture trapped down there to keep us cooler." Hearth says thinking. His thoughts were of the cacti that may or may not be out there, but decided to wait until whether or not they saw any.
  21. "Fine then, you'd better get walkin' then." Hearth said pulling his pack and heading towards the field that he was originally heading towards. He mumbled some angry words as he walked, trying to vent some rage. "THEY MIGHT HAVE SUPPLIES!!!" Came a shout from a group of looters and thieves. Hearth pulled his rifle and without a word took a shot. His shot was steady and killed at least 2 of the thieves. "What a lucky day..." he said sarcastically.
  22. Hearth sat on the cave floor. He'd never had a fever, only haunted by his past. He didn't want to slow the group down, and was even a little bit shocked to hear that he'd confessed love to Grand. He was going to clear things up... eventually, but it appeared that she had other matters to attend to. Then he'd realized a long forgotten fact, he was a unicorn of the Royal Guard. He pointed his horn at his hooves. It sparked and glowed to his hooves, healing them substantially, but not completely. He chewed some poppy seeds. 'I should be able to walk now.' he thought and stood up. He put on his vest and hat, and said "Ah'm as ready t' go as anypony else."
  23. Hearth was a bit surprised to see that he'd ended up here, but some part of him expected it. The clock was ticking, ticking for somepony else to go. His mind reeled back to what she'd said. "That a challenge?" He said placing his hooves on the ground and pushing up. "Oh Luna that hurts!" He said quickly. "Hehe, You win." Hearth needed sleep, but he was afraid, afraid to dream.
  24. "No, Belle, no. Leave that man alone, look at his skin. It's falling off." Hearth was talking in his sleep. He was dreaming of the day he lost his daughter. "No, no, NOOOOOOO!!" Hearth sat straight up. His hat was off and so was his vest. His hooves hurt and his body ached. He looked around the cave to get his bearings.
