Who is the 'leading ordinary brand', really?

Fun fact: in the United Sates, if you mention a competitor in a commercial, you must pay this competitor. Each time the ad airs. For example, Sega had to do this during the "Genesis does what Nintendon't" campaign in 1989 because they mentioned Nintendo, who was a competitor back then. To avoid this, most ads simply use generic items and refer to "the leading brand" when describing how their product is so much better than the competition.
