:BornAgainBrony: Nani?! Why would you want to punch me? I'm an honorable, and friendly samurai.

And what does an honorable and friendly samurai have to fear from these fists of mine?

Current Thought: How much does @Denim&Venöm know about professional wrestling? Does he have encyclopedic knowledge like, Jim Cornette?

I'd like to think I know more than the guy who almost caused The Young Bucks to retire from Wrestling.

  3. Hard to say, since it feels like every other anime has some obscure OVA attached to it. Off the top of my head:

    • Hand Maid May
    • Dragonauts
    • Karin
    • Azumanga Daioh
    • G Gundam
    • Big O
    • Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne
    • Claymore
    • Spice & Wolf
    • Digimon G2-4
    • Beyblade S2
    • High School of the Dead
  4. It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you all of the passing of Chadwick Haheo Rowa, better known by his Sumo title of Akebono Taro, at just 54 years of age. One of the very few Americans to take up the grueling Japanese sport of Sumo, Akebono become one of only 73 athletes to become a Sumo grand champion since its beginnings in the 17th century, and the first ever non-Japanese to win that honor. A true Yokozuna.

Speaking of Yokozuna, you may remember Akebono's "debut" in front of an American audience. This was against Big Show in that 'Sumo' match at WM21. While that moment didn't exactly land with audiences, it did inspire Akebono to go Pro. He made his debut in one of the more creative ways possible: being born from a giant egg as the son of adult star Ying-Ling and The Great Muta at a HUSTLE show (Still a better debut than Kizarny). But from there, things would only go up, as he became a staple of Keiji Mutoh's AJPW, winning the illustrious Champion Carnival league, becoming the first winner of the Royal Road tournament and claiming the prestigious Triple Crown championship.

Akebono would also face NFL star turned WCW powerplant trainee turned actor turned singer turned MMA fighter, Bob Sapp. In what could be described as the freak show fight to end all freak show fights, Taro vs. Sapp drew an estimated 54 million viewers on Japanese TV. That's a bigger rating than the finale of Friends.

Many may not have known him, but no one can deny his accomplishments.

Rest in Power, Akebono. May your legacy live on.

  5. Oh quite a bit. I purposely went with a QWERTY phone over a new touchscreen. I prefer driving my dads old crossover to my new-ish car just because it has a radio with buttons and not a touchscreen. I did the aesthetics of computers and phones from 20-30 years ago. Because at least those had aesthetics and weren't just shiny and minimalist. I still use a CD player, but out of necessity. Media player doesn't work like it used to and it makes a good back up for when your blu-tooth speaker refuses to hold a charge. I also collect cassettes. I can download music now, so other than as a back up, why own CDs? Cassettes are more durable and sound better.

We're even getting a resurgence of interest from younger gens for older games and consoles. Easier to pick up and play. More style and imagination. The games are actually finished and they have no strings attached. They do what games today won't. Distance themselves from reality for a bit.

  6. Welp. This is tragic.

Neseblod, a record shop and museum in Oslo, Norway dedicated to the preservation of Black Metal's musical history has just been badly damaged by a fire. Many first pressings, demos, bootlegs, fanzines, letters and tapes traded in the underground are now gone. A heart wrenching loss of metal history. But also rather poetic that relics of a scene firmly rooted in the left hand path, were all set ablaze.

Here's  the article and a Go Fund Me to help the shop.

  7. On the 11th anniversary of Jay Briscoe's first world title win, in the city where Jay debuted on the first ROH show back in 2002, the little brother who was too young to wrestle on that show, has finally become ROH world champion.

    Congratulations Mark. You've manned up.

Even the heels in Undisputed Kingdom have to break kayfabe for Mark's magnificent moment.
