  1. In one of my recent postings (http://mlpforums.com/topic/81693-hot-horse/), I decided to do an experiment where everybody listed their initial thoughts to the title of the thread (“Hot Horse”). Some of you wondered why I decided to try such an experiment. Before I go on, let me state I have written this response very carefully and have done my best to be considerate of everyone’s feelings as I want to do my best not to upset nor provoke anyone. I will now reveal my intensions.

First I would like to point out that “Hot Horse” is an equestrian term that means a horse that is overly excited or energetic, and/or easily spooked or shy at strange objects.  If a horse is too “hot”, people will usually want to clam that horse down. Let me also remark that of all the participants who posted in my experiment, only one participant pointed this out.

Anyway, what inspired me to try that experiment was this Topic on the Show Discussion (http://mlpforums.com/topic/81581-did-the-writers-just-give-us-the-first-rainbow-dash-likes-girls-implication/). This topic basically talks about a scene in “Daring Don’t” where Daring Do jokingly stated that she wasn’t giving up the ring easily and Rainbow Dash watching from afar reacts to Daring Do’s joke/comeback by making a unique sort of face, and it sees to ask the participants (at least that’s how I interpret the somewhat “cryptically written” intro of the topic) if they agree that Rainbow Dash’s reaction was meant to signify that she had developed (not necessarily at that moment) a “serious” interest in Daring Do other mares (a “serious” interest like that a mare would normally have in stallions).

Now make no mistake; I’m not implying that homosexuality is wrong (and I basically don’t think it’s wrong at all), nor am I implying that it’s wrong to talk about homosexuality or sex in general (as long as the conversation is responsible, intelligent, clam, open and mature about it). I’m also not implying that it’s wrong for people to give their opinion on something (freedom of speech is very important, even though we do need to be responsible and considerate of others as to how we use our freedoms including that of speech). My main concern is what I’ll right now call people’s “initial thoughts” of something (or the first thoughts or feelings of something that come to mind when that something is introduced to one’s stimuli, such as an image or sound).

Now go to my experiment and take a brief look at what everybody wrote in response to seeing the phrase “Hot Horse”, and you’ll notice that a significant amount (though not all) of participants interpreted the word “Hot” in the sense meaning arousing, sexy and/or attractive. I find this very much related to how someone could interpret the face Rainbow Dash makes as her having a “serious” interest in Daring Do other mares (like that a mare would normally have in stallions).

Do you ever sometimes wonder if some people (particularly those of Gen X and Gen Y, at least as far as I’m concerned) are expressing too many “immature”/”dirty” thoughts and/or feelings about certain things (as opposed to more “clean” thoughts)? Again, I don’t think it’s wrong for people to be homosexual (and I don’t think it’s something that’s “dirty”), and I don’t think it’s wrong to talk about homosexuality or sex in general (as long as the conversation is responsible, intelligent, clam, open and mature about it); however, I’m certain at least some of you would agree that taking an image (such as the face Rainbow Dash makes in “Daring Don’t”) that isn’t supposed to imply something sensitive and connecting it to something suggestive on purpose (as opposed to “intrusively”) is rather “immature”.

As per another point regarding this topic about the face Rainbow Dash makes, you could also think about the lesson of the MLP:FiM episode, “Party Of One”. Remember when Pinkie Pie learned you should always expect the best from your friends (after Pinkie Pie expected something bad from her friends)? While it is natural that people will have all sorts of thoughts on something such as the Rainbow Dash makes in “Daring Don’t” (including thoughts that imply something means something suggestive), whenever we see something new or unusual, we should try our best to interpret it as something happy, normal or innocent (instead of something suggestive).

  2. This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner.

This is an automatically generated message, by the way.

Sorry I put this topic in the wrong place. No hard feelings. :)

Twilight Sparkle would have trouble fitting in. The other toys would get annoyed at her constant attempts to organize things. After she stresses out and goes all "Lesson Zero" Buzz and Woody would step in and get the toys to give her a second chance. Of course Bullseye will develop a serious crush on her.

    ^_^

I like the way you think. It makes me chuckle thinking about how Twilight Sparkle would attempt to organize things. :D  Do you really think she'd go "Lesson Zero"? I think she'd just feel unwanted.

  3. I'd really like to know what was the post that inspired this thread, and what the hell this is all about.

I don't intend to give away my intension; I intend to keep them as mysterious as Princess Celestia keeps hers. But maybe you could figure it out.

By the way I got a kick out of that picture; I sometimes wonder where these things come from.

  4. I thought you'd be posting a piece of art you've drawn. I find that's what a lot of topics with short titles seem to be.

I can't draw; nor do I have the ability or skill to manipulate Ponies in flash on the computer.

  5. How can you be so certain Rainbow Dash needed to pay for her whole house? She could have just picked a certain open space in the sky and built the entire place out of clouds and certain odds and ends (it's likely she would have had help, but it's possible she did build her place). I don’t consider Rainbow Dash much financially wealthier (if any at that) than the average Pony.

Why would you call Fluttershy's cottege a shack? That's really insulting. I don't think she's the kind who needs to depend on public assistance; I actually see her as very self sustaining.

The Ponies live in their own Pony society, not our human society. How Ponies obtain or trade their places of residence and how they "make ends meet" is likely different than how we do it in our own society. I certainly can assure to that there is definitely more collective wellbeing involved between Ponies. This article tells you all about Collective Wellbeing: http://www.thefreelibrary.com/The+European+dream%3A+building+sustainable+development+in+a+globally...-a0129972524

  6. After reading a certain post about the latest episode; I decided to try an experiment with everybody (and “every-pony”):

First, write the first thing that came to mind when you read the title of this topic “Hot Horse”. You may also post a picture.

Second, read everyone else’s first reactions and feel free to reply to them. Some if not many of you might know the equestrian meaning of “Hot Horse” at first glance, while others might not.

  7. I just watched “Daring Don’t” online, and I thought it would be appropriate to share a review of my own:

I must say that it’s a very good episode; it’s very interesting, and armed with “eye popping” moments like a typical episode of MLP:FiM should be. The Story is (of course) also very robust and filled with action. :fiery:

You’ll probably notice one flaw: When Rainbow Dash’s head is close to the ground, she put her hoofs on her head and doesn’t fall on her face (she hovers in mid-air).  :o  Then again, she is a Pegasus; but was she flapping? Someone should remind the artists to be a little more “horse conscious”.

One of my favorite moments was at the beginning when Rainbow Dash crashed and got dizzy with the 2 baby birds flying around her as if they were imaginary as part of Rainbow Dash being dizzy (a common cartoon mechanism when someone gets dizzy and imaginary birds fly around their head); I got a laugh out of that. Another favorite moment of mine is when Pinkie Pie hula-hoops with the ring, that was very cute and silly (and a tad eye-popping). I for one am looking forward as to what amazing things Pinkie Pie has in store for everyone.

By the way, did anyone else notice that Daring Do’s full name was inspired from the name J.K. Rowling (the author of the “Harry Potter” series)? ;)

  8. I was speechless at first when I read your opening statement, and my initial offering as a rebuddle was this: :umad: :umad: :umad: :umad:

The way I interpret it (and the way I believe it's meant to be interpreted), Rainbow Dash's reaction had to do how Daring Do made a joke (and a touche one at that) as to say that she wasn't going to give up the ring easily. It's hard for me to put that sort of reaction into words (although Rainbow Dash’s reaction may have meant to mean the same thing as if someone reacted to something similar by saying “touche”), but I didn't have a single hint that her reaction was meant to signify that she developed "serious" feelings for Daring Do (nor that she had become more likely to develop such feelings for any other mare).

  9. Okay… It would seem that everyone is being a little too focused and too critical about the possibility of such a “Toy Story” short becoming reality.

How about we now shift the discussion, use a little imagination and have some fun imagining what would happen in such a Toy Story short/special featuring the “Mane 6” or any other characters (whether more relevant in the show or more relevant in the fandom). :okiedokielokie:

  10. Well, there was a transformer reference in the halloween special, so it could be possible. But they didn't flat out and say it was "transformers", but it was called something else. So, it could be possible for pixar to do that. But they most likely can't or won't use one of the mane six. Maybe go for a secondaty character or something.

You'll never know; if they could do Mr. Potato head, then likely, with careful planning, they could use the "Mane 6". Plus, what if the Brony movement created petitioned Hasbro and Pixar to make it happen? I'm certain you see how power online petitions created by the people can be. ;)

  11. Mr. and Mrs. Potato-Head are owned by Hasbro (but I know most of you already know that), and they have allowed Pixar to use the Potato-Heads in their “Toy Story” movies, shorts and specials for many years now. But imagine a “Toy Story” special where yet more Hasbro toys are added to the gang, The My Little Ponies. :o

So, what do you think would happen when they “Toy Story” gang (Andy’s toys and Bonnie’s toys; and/or perhaps the toys at Sunnyside Daycare as well) meets the “mane 6”? Perhaps Pinkie Pie could play with Evil Emperor Zurg (annoying him), and then party hard with the bath toys.  Fluttershy and Rex could could both scream in fright when they first meet face to face. Perhaps Mr. Potato head could become jealous. Imagine the Pizza Planet aliens wearing special glasses and hitting a turntable with Vinyl Scratch (yes, I know she’s not part of the “Mane 6”).  :fiery: Maybe in a fantasy, Rainbow Dash and Buzz Lightyear will have a race. B)  And Applejack, Woody, Jessie and Bullseye will pal around in an old western fantasy.

And of course, don’t forget about the Pixar eastereggs; perhaps Twilight Sparkle will read a book tall about “A-113”, and Spike will try to balance on the Pixar star ball.

Now it’s your turn to be the writer: Tell us all what would happen if the Ponies come to “Toy Story”. :D

What would you think of PIxar using the "Mane 6" in a "Toy Story" special?

  12. Well, I do have an idea for a new Unicorn Pony that eventually falls in love with Pinkie Pie and vice versa as part of a Full Released Theatrical Film I’m envisioning (which stars Pinkie Pie).

The Pony is around the same age as Pinkie Pie and is inspired from Doogie Howser M.D (the Pony talks and looks very much like him; I even envision Neil Patrick Harris himself doing the voice); I call him Doctor Horser. Like Doogie Howser, Doctor Horser is a young doctor prodigy, but specializes in “Foal Psychology”. For his cutie mark, I envision it being an arrangement of blocks that is used on the WISC test.

In the story, he at first tends to hide his feelings toward Pinkie Pie since he wants to be seen as a serious doctor and thus wants to “keep a professional distance”. Pinkie Pie doesn’t excessively try to get his attention, but she does wind up spending a lot of time with him as she decides to help him with one of his child patients (who befriended Pinkie Pie and vice versa). When Pinkie Pie’s intervention (and that is Dr. Horser’s piers) cost Dr. Horser his license to practice child psychology, he tells Pinkie Pie he no longer wants anything to do with her; but though the story’s events (I don’t want to reveal my entire story to the public), Pinkie Pie sets everything right and Princess Celestia restores Dr. Horser’s license at the urging of Pinkie Pie (who explained what happened). Upon hearing this, Dr. Horser realizes that Pinkie Pie does care about him like she does all her friends and accepts the feelings he has for her. As Pinkie Pie is taking one last look at the seafront view off a cliff near where most of the story takes place before she departs back to Ponyville, Dr. Horser apologizes for putting his career before her and explains that he would very much like to see Pinkie Pie again someday (perhaps even visit her in Ponyville) and further mentions the feelings he has for her. Pinkie Pie also mentions the feelings she has for Dr. Horser and mentions her dream about becoming a mommy someday (which she also mentions early in the story) in which she also mentions that she thinks Dr. Horser would make a wonderful daddy. With that, Dr. Horser and Pinkie Pie embrace their feelings for each other, and they kiss as the film is ending.

  13. Isn't that what the Ford Pinto is... Other than the exploding due to a rear end collision thing...

Nah, but fo-rizzles, I like my driving n' whatnot. You know, the accelerating, the shifting, the accelerating! All the great things about driving.

I mean, we got vehicles for everything too. Station wagons, muscle cars, pick-em-up trucks and even motorhomes... Nothin' beats a ride in a ol' pick-em-up truck with the exhaust getting sucked back into the cab while you are trying to find 2nd gear on the column. Or the beauty of riding in the back part of a lovely ol' station wagon with the rear window out sucking in the exhaust where you are sitting... Or a nice fast drag race on a old country road as your vehicle sucks in the exhaust from the other vehicle through the vents!

    Now that's 'Merica!

Unless you throw a 5 speed manual transmission and a 1970's bucket seat out of a Trans-Am onto a horse, than nah... I'll stick with the vroomity-vroomity. Plus, I like going fast.

    Like total racecar status, brah.

"The accelerating"? You might want to change your atitiude about driveing with speed for the thrill of it after you hear this from Joe Friday:

You should also avoid breathing in Car exhaust; it could very well contain CO, which can get into your blood and make you sick.

Car safety might have imprived since "Dragnet 1967" was on TV, but you should never press your luck for thrill when behind the wheel.

  14. I recently saw a post that asks “Do your parents know you’re a Brony?” (http://mlpforums.com/topic/62170-do-your-parents-know-youre-a-brony/) At least to me, that question seems to be inspired from an understandable assumption that people seem to make (as far as I’m concerned) that participants in movements such as The Brony Movement are young adults who are in High School or College (or are at least of “college age”). But that general assumption is not always true (and I for one am gald it isn't).

I do believe some people also thought that all participants in The Occupy Movement are young adults who are in High School or College (or are at least of “college age”); but in reality, people from all ages actively participate in Occupy, and I also do believe that The Brony Movement is something for everyone (except of course the more Adult Oriented activities). For example, I do see that some if not many of the shows crew who are married with children (notably Tara Strong) find time to dedicatedly participate with the Brony movement.

So, are there any Bronies (including Pegasisters) or general fans/viewers on these Froums who are married with children? Or, do any of you on these Forums know any Bronies (including Pegasisters) or general fans/viewers who are married with children?

  15. I own two horses, and to ride them is simply the best thing! It annoys me because non-horse lovers think that a pony is a baby horse, or simply a smaller horse is a foal! Being a horsewoman is a lot of time and money, but it's worth it. The saying, "Money can't buy you happiness" is false, because money buys your horses, and that's pretty much the same thing as happiness! <3

I still believe money doesn't buy happiness; your logic doesn't convince me (and it won't convince David Korten either).

  16. Thank you everybody (and "every-pony") for making this my most discussed subject on these Forums yet. I’m so very ecstatic to see many Bronies interested in riding horses and/or ponies and/or have fond memories of it. :D:yay:

I’d like to no continue this discussion by asking everyone a new and related question in a new subject: http://mlpforums.com/topic/81359-who-would-like-to-try-riding-a-ponyhorse-drawn-vehicle/

Looking forward to seeing everyone there. If you haven’t shared your thoughts on this subject yet, feel free to do so (I want to see this subject keep going as well). Be certain to also check out my other posts as well (such as this one: http://mlpforums.com/topic/79246-idea-a-star-for-mlpfim-on-the-hollywood-walk-of-fame/).

    “Stay ‘Pony’ My Friends.” ;)

  17. In my previous posting (http://mlpforums.com/topic/81271-has-anybody-here-actually-ridden-a-horse-andor-pony-before/) I ask if anybody (or “any-pony”) has ever ridden a real horse or Pony before. I’m very happy to see that many people who are into MLP:FiM have ridden before; some really enjoy it and like it very much, although some found it uncomfortable.

Now, how would you like to ride in some sort of Horse/Pony drawn vehicle (either for practical use or just leasure)?

-How about a Pony pulled miniature cart like this (it seems very nifty and fun to get around in one of these): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0eB0FF1nxE

-Maybe you’d like to get your friends together and go for a nice ride in a covered wagon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbI_Sqel_2I

-If you live in the countryside, perhaps you’d like to give your car a break and settle for a nice relaxing ride into town in a horse pulled buggy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWFGleVxjRI

Perhaps you might also be interested in this article from Mother Earth News which talks about Horses as an alternative and eco-friendly mode of transportation (http://www.motherearthnews.com/green-transportation/horse-and-buggy-alternative-transportation-zmaz74ndzraw.aspx?PageId=1#axzz2mlCDgAt4). Of course we can all agree Horses aren’t suitable to be a mode to transportation for all corridors and routes (it can be very, very dangerous, and not to mention atrocious, to try and drive a horse and buggy on the Interstate at 65mph), it does sound like a practical and eco-friendly (at least in some areas of the country) to sometimes use Horses and Buggies in place of Automobiles for small outings into town (for example, to visit a nearby friend, or to go and pick up a few items at the store).

Maybe you'd like to plan a Brony convenion that includes rides in such Pony/Horse drawn vehicles. I'm certian it would be lots of fun.

Feel free to share your thoughts on this subject. ;)

  18. Here's another question: Did it ever occur to you that Princess Celestia could use her magic to stop the offending Bomb from falling down and hold it in midair? She would then use her magic to jettison the offending weapon out into space where it would safely crash into a natural space rock and explode without causing any damage; or she could use her magic to “cut the red wire” (preventing it from exploding) from the inside and dismantle it piece by piece. Perhaps she could also use her magic to instantly send the offending weapon somewhere else (like the "instant transmission" trick from DBZ). B):yay:

  19. The problem with this is, beyond Bronies, the show hasn't really had much of a cultural impact. It' a good show and all, but there are many other series/films/whatever that deserve a star more than MLP does.

You know, I would compare that remark to the remarks certain people I assume sometimes make that claim The Occupy movement has not had much of a cultural impact because you don't see it covered on basic TV, Radio and Newspaper. The Occupy Movement(s) and The Brony Movement(s) are similar in which although they are not recognized that much by mainstream media, they indeed have a large and positive cultural impact that is helping to get people involved to make the world a better and happier place.

Let me ask you 2 more questions: How many other “series/films/whatever” looked to its viewers and fans for inspiration and listened to them? How many other “series/films/whatever” inspired a movement that spreads happiness, friendship and collective wellbeing, inspires artists, and also started a charity (Bronies for Good)?
