  1. Let's be real this isn't even the first time someone overhyped a fan project built on free labor to further his or herself in the fandom , got caught using DHX assets, got caught abusing their status to gain favors, and then eventually had the entire fandom turn against him or her.

We just called it Double Rainboom last time.

  2. well, she's not the only one that steals hasbro's property, pretty much anyone who makes a plushy or video or picture with ponies to make money is stealing.

you got to love her corporate level non disclosure agrement though

It is more of a grey area than company property.

I'm sorry but didn't the show have an episode where Rarity tried to be generous to someone and it bit her in the ass? I'm pretty sure the lesson there is don't help people who treat you rotten. If ILKPAL is going to treat her staff like this, the only sensible thing to do is not to watch her content, thus deny her revenue so she learns her lesson. Continuing to pretend nothing happened is just going to encourage her. It's basically handing her a check and hoping she'll just randomly have a change of heart. There's a difference between being caring and being foolish and naive.

I was comparing her situation more to Sunset and Starlight than to Suri Polomare. I mean Sunset wasn't threatened with a prison sentence if she didn't try to make friends. I was saying all help would be contingent on meeting all of AnonKPLeaks' demands.

You cannot deny someone revenue who doesn't MAKE any revenue. Her videos are not monetized, and any revenue she does make goes to charity. Ignoring her would not change anything, she essentially creates a feedback loop with her aggressive advertising that allows her to appear more important than she actually is thus giving her the sense of entitlement that brings about the negative impression she makes on others. The backlash helped to break free of that loop. I think that people knowing that KP was using this fandom to fuel her illusions of grandeur is a good thing, everything else just feels petty.

  3. I really think that since KP doesn't ACTUALLY care about what is going on, the best course of action now is to lend her a helping hand in case she wants a second chance at making friends in our community. Punishing KP isn't going to get you a sincere apology, it won't get you a permanent change of behavior, and it just seems wrong.

If we want to show that we actually follow the teachings of the show, then we should be ready to help KP when she is ready. If she isn't ever ready, then we'll know she cannot get past her extreme narcissism.

  4. Okay, I've gone and subjected myself to some of ILoveDiscordKimPossibleALot's content, and I have to say...

She's f****** boring. Why is... How'd she get any kind of famous? She basically relies on others for practically EVERYTHING, and she's automatically the least entertaining - and least talented - part of anything she's involved with. It's one thing if several people collaborate on a project and everyone brings something to the table. It's another thing if the inexplicably central character or personality (and she has none to speak of) has nothing to offer of his or her own. I would call her the Adam Sandler of the fandom, but at least Sandler recognizes talent when he sees it and gives his friends a leg up where he can.

KPs special talent is advertising, combine that with an above average video quality and quantity and she is guaranteed to become popular.

She even advertises herself during other panels. https://youtube.com/watch?e=&v=A6e9vjkawgo (31:00 in)

  5. 'Cause this fandom has exclusive rights to table top gaming?

Did we have any extensive interaction between two male characters yet? It was a huge thing bronies wanted and now they are suddenly making an episode about it.

I am conflicted because on one hand I like the improvements, but on the other the show isnt the same if it starts trying to directly cater outside its target audience.

  6. I kind of have a theory about this.

Specifically, we have the movie coming up in 2017; they started working on the movie before they started working on S6, and as such they can't change the status quo in S6 without screwing up the continuity in the movie.

Due to this, S6 is most probably stuck in a "limbo" state where they can't alter things like they did in S4 by giving them the map or in S3 where they made twilight an alicorn: they're in a sort of statsis, because the movie is MUCH more important than giving S6 a meta-arc.

As such, S6 is focused more on "safe" expansions of individual characters (like giving rarity a business she owns without actually MOVING her, or making dash a wonderbolt seemingly part time).

Until the movie hits, we're in filler country.

Yeah that actually makes a lot of sense. I wonder if that is why both seasons were developed simultaneously.

  7. My issue is that it has been bizarrely...average in a way that makes it boring. The thing is most episodes are done well enough that even when they are bad they just come off as boring.

I feel like in most cases nothing is really given any sense of wonder, we have major events happen and they are basically tossed aside (Flurry Heart, Starlight Glimmer, Rainbow Dash Wonderbolt) with only Rarity and Spike really getting anything of note. I think Josh Haber needs help, he has admitted his faults in coming up with compelling stories and writing adventure tales and it shows.

This is the first season that feels like a set of unused ideas for the previous season.

  8. I mean we are following storylines still from that season and there aren't any major status quo changes like we got with the castle or the removal of daily friendship lessons.

All we have is a redeemed antagonist, which was a story arc already handled better with Discord. Starlight isn't leaving as big of an impact on the characters and world like Discord does, and it seems half the time that the storylines are just unused S5 pitches/stories (actually a case for Flutter Brutter).

  9. A plot suggested on /mlp/ gave the idea that he was building robots and he became a recluse because his special talent was so bizarre that he couldn't find a job that catered to it, since robots are a very new concept to Equestria in general. The idea wasn't that he couldn't do other work it was that he didn't have passion for anything else. His devices were either convoluted, inefficient, messed up, or were for something not very useful anyway.

This could also lead to a more satisfying ending.

  10. Sunburst was non-annoying, though.

He also tried before giving up and wasn't a jerk about it...in fact, Sunburst was a better example of Zephyr Breeze. It is amazing that not only do we have a plotline done worse in this episode, but it isn't even from a different season.

  11. ...Well there's clearly some unnecessary hatred here. What I think people are not understanding is that people like Zephyr do exist in real life and that he's not a model for every young adult who doesn't have a job. He's supposed to be an anti-model, someone you don't want to be. You're not supposed to like him before you see what he would be like on his own and Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash convince him to change his ways. If he wasn't someone who needed to change, the episode wouldn't work.

If you have a problem with this episode not doing much for you in the way of humor, that's another story. I personally just thought that it was alright. But I hate when these fads of "LET'S HATE THIS CHARACTER WHO ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE LIKABLE" show up.

Not only is it something that many of the audience can relate to (hell for a year, I lived with my sister, desperate to get a job in my field, I was mostly unsuccessful, but after two years I finally got a job at the HQ of one of the biggest tech companies in the world), but making the character so unlikeable makes the moral hit not as hard. If Zephyr had been shown to be way more pathetic, then I think it would have been a more uplifting episode even if it was depressing.
