    That...

...is the most metal thing I've seen all day. :sneer:

The big question remains: Is he (still) friend or foe? I'm okay with him once again being foe.

Based on what the writers have said, it might be a bit of both. There are pretty potentially feelsy circumstances that are going to happen.

  2. So I watched a review on Make Your Mark on youtube that had a particular issue with it that I found odd and maybe mis-aimed, and I was wondering what you thought.

The premise of his gripe was that in contrast to Hitch in ANG who willingly had a new view on pegasi and unicorns, Posey spent the whole episode being selfish and spoiled  about magic and her lack of it, yet at the end of it all, she received a power of her own. That whining and complaining during the whole episode only stopped when she got power of her own, and so being selfish and entitled will reward you. She became a better pony at the end, but not through change and improvement, but only by receiving what she was whining about all along until she got it, which she shouldn't have gotten and should have instead felt thankful for what she already had.

I just can't help but feel that, as Spike said so perfectly in Every Little Thing She Does,

I don't think that's really what the point of the episode was. I don't think that solely because she got flower magic and was receiving what she was whining about, that she stopped being salty. I think there's more to it than that.  "Whining" or jealousy notwithstanding, remember that magic was still making her daily life a hassle. (just look at TYT!) Maybe it took her being saved from the void by Sunny's magic to finally give her a more positive outlook. I think Posey had an attitude adjustment alongside gaining flower magic, not because of it. That's really the sense that I get. Reaching a hoof out to somepony regardless is a big thing. Maybe having something positive happen with her really helped her outlook. (What were you going to do, let her plummet into the void because she was obnoxious? Or give every earth pony plant magic except her as some sort of just desserts? That doesn't seem right.)

The idea that giving the spoiled brat what she wanted is what made her happier, and that's what the lesson is, I don't think that's the right takeaway from this.

Honestly, the number of youtube thumbnails I see being salty at TYT or MYM makes me a little sad.

  3. Cost is one thing, but the other thing is cubic foot space in your room. Whatever you buy, you're going to be devoting a lot of space to it just sitting around. Almost like you're buying furniture! If you have a room with lots of stuff in it, it might be an issue.

If that's truely what you want and you can afford it for the purchase, it should really be somepony you love an immense lot. Though me, I wouldn't go for anything more than estimated actual pony size, or four feet tall.

  4. Just so you know, this will go into spoilers for the end scene of Make Your Mark. Be warned!

    Spoiler

So Make Your Mark ended with the reveal of a mysterious shadowy alicorn, who we don't know the name of yet. Theories have floated around a lot about who she is, or what her role is, or what she did in the backstory, but she is clearly going to be a villain.

But there is another pony next to her, a unicorn.

    2873332.png

It would be a reasonable guess to say this unicorn is her underling of sorts. But people have noticed that may not be so.

She's very concerned. Like she's not excited about what's going on. Could she perhaps be... somepony who ISN'T an antagonist? Who isn't going to be on board with what Miss Mysterious has in mind? May possibly become a friend to the Mane Five? Why even include her in this scene? Does showing her sort of hint at some possible significance?

But people have theorized one thing further.

Months ago, an image of some of the VA cast appeared, including one name never seen before.

    2832327.png

Who's Misty? People wondered for months.

So people have guessed... could this unicorn be Misty? If her voice actor is alongside the mane cast, will she be a prominent protagonist?

    What are your thoughts?

  5. ...well this would surely be some interesting idea to go with...

    large.png

If you can't make out who that other pony is... that's Argyle! Which means... :o

  6. That was cute and fun! I really liked that one!

Zipp is definitely awesome, and now you can see that she's pretty intense when she needs to be. And that explains what that visor thing was in the credits!

Remember: Izzy made that. That's way more than making some contraption out of random objects.

The first person view actually gave me Metroid Prime vibes with all the visor types, so I went ahead and I made this:

Evidence shows that despite the shortcomings of this special, the general public views it in a positive light. Pardon my indiscretion, but I can't help that I am one naughty devil. :orly:

    People enjoyed something?

    Regardless of minor drawbacks? :kirin:

  8. Here's a bit of a weird one and sorry if it happens to be in the wrong board, subject could be in a couple of places.

In MLPANG, during Pipp's video at Zephyr Heights, you can see a Zephyr Heights Postal Service logo in the background, a parody of the USPS postal service. (upper left corner)

    2707920.png

...I would seriously love to have this on a shirt.

Problem is, a image of this doesn't exist anywhere, let alone a shirt.

    AVvXsEhlCiu5JShPE683pNpZ-oIoKuMcWwmDfSH6

Even the images of concept art posted by various artists, it doesn't show up there, even though many other Zephyr Heights logos seen have gotten posted by these same people.

So I turn to all of you. Does anyone know if there's a location of a better quality image? Or am I going to have to try to make this myself? I could try. (What program would I use? I want to use vector art.)

  9. I figure these two are prominent enough to get their own thread.

Here is the thread for Jazz and Rocky! They're the two ponies who work at Mane Melody with Pipp. Jazz is the green/blue earth pony mare and Rocky is the cream/orange winged pegasus stallion.

The Pilot special to Make your mark gave a good look at some of G5's background ponies, some of which even getting prominent roles. My favorite of the background ponies that were shown in MYM so far is Windy. She's just a nice fun character overall, and might be one of this generation's background pony staples.

Windy has grown on me for sure even more. Definitely want to protect from ponies picking on her.

Another nice background pony is Jazz. That being said, background isn't the most fitting title for her considering that she works for one of the main characters. Still, she has an interesting design and personality that could have potential.

    But don't forget Rocky!

I like his interesting choice of wing color to against body color.

  11. I, on the other hoof, am fairly lenient of various inconsistencies, willing to brush them off with in-universe thoughts and theories or something as simple as writer(s) plain forgetting something. I know that in the video game, the artists just weren't aware of Sunny's newly gained rainbow streaks of hair and were too into programming at that point.

Never have I been really truely rubbed the wrong way by some sort of plot turn or inconsistency. At least not anything I can think of offhand.

  12. You know what? I'm going to steal a line I heard from a pony watcher on youtube I watch, TPrower. I think this sums it up pretty well.

"Now bear in mind I don't think this means that ponies can never ever be angry or upset about anything. That's ridiculous, those are perfectly natural emotions, as long as you're mindful of how you use them. What I see this as, is that ponies who harbor ill feelings toward each other, reviving the prejudices that kept them apart for so long, allowing themselves to be consumed by petty squabbling, is what causes the magic to weaken, which as Sunny points out, may have something to do with why the crystals were separated in the first place."

There seems to be some mystery to be discovered. The nature of magic may be different than in classical Equestria.

They've done things like this before---choosing to have parts of a pony's body that are distinctive or expressive be exposed, even when covering those body parts ought to make more logical sense in-universe.

I've made a whole thread on ponies who have their tails through their clothes despite being impractical to do.

    tailsthroughclothes.png.1dd9a9523a250cbf

It really must just boil down to equine accentuating aesthetics.

  14. I was thinking of this topic, there's a post about it on Equestria Daily, too.

I don't think it's as simple as just "everypony be nice or disaster strikes". I think disaster strikes only when the worst aspects come forth.

Plus magic was gone for many years so maybe it's just a new setup that may or may not right itself.

I just hundred-percent-ed it just over two and a half hours.

There are about five areas total, and the gameplay consisted of fetch quests, minigames, and in between those was some platforming and exploration.

Honestly, there were some aspects of the game that felt really unpolished, like facial animation, the way characters animated or popped into/out of existence as cutscenes were starting or ending, the way some equippable cosmetic items were animated, and there was a patch of confetti on the ground that disappeared or reappeared depending on how close/far your were to it.

There were a few moments that made me chuckle, though.

I'm thinking about uploading my Let's Play of it to youtube...

EDIT:  Aaaaand I managed to lose the second half of my game footage ><

I'm curious to play it just because it's like a long-ish sounding episode of the show, and one of the scarce official G5 pony content things we have. Plus you get to be in the world and interact with other characters.

Side question: Has anyone extracted the models of the ponies for use in Gmod and SFM and the like? And have people started making mods?

  16. Months ago there was a push to make emotes out of ponies' faces from the G5 movie, but it was eventually decided it wouldn't work cause they're 3d.

Well now that we have Tell Your Tale, which is both 2D and has a lot of good face potential, maybe it would be a good idea to revisit that idea?
