My guess would be that covering the ears would agitate horses IRL, and the sentient types in Equestria could probably ignore that discomfort, but it seems that having them stick out is the standard! :squee:

I think it accentuates and reinforces these guys' equine features and feel.

(Plus I bet if I were to photoshop their ears away, it would look all sorts of weird!)

I would have picked the middle rating. Sorry, Pipp.

    ..Thank you for that... rating!

I wasn't put off at least. The song grew on me too.

  3. I posted about this on its episode thread, but I feel it should get its own thread.

In Nightmare Roommate, the outside of the police station shows this:

Sprout is on a wanted poster! Does this mean he's on the run? Was it for his actions in the movie?

Or is this only just a random visual thing and nothing will be made of it?

    What do you think?

  4. So, some things I learned from this episode:

    2840281.jpg

    Sprout is on the run!

The Brighthouse isn't co-ed. only the girls stay there. When I wondered why they all weren't there, I remembered, Hitch probably has his own place already living in Maretime Bay. (with paid off mortgage!)

And speaking of Hitch, love him in this one.

Unpopular opinion here, I found this one kind of blah. It didn’t feel like much was actually going on, and the fast pace didn’t really help me soak into Zipp’s struggles. It also would have helped if it explained why the sisters had to leave (is it really intended to be permanent or is just more of a diplomatic mission?), or at least explain more than just “an adventure.”

I'm pretty sure it's because they're going to live with the other three.

  6. So someone posted a scan of some G5 thing in a magazine, and it's... well, look at this.

I'm betting it's just a dumb visual mistake, but regardless, spoiler tag just in case

    Spoiler

I'm betting on mistake. Because holy sh*t this implies so many things.

  7. I decided to brush off Ponyvania again and see if I could find some more major things in it. And boy, have I ever!

First, here's some of the other things I got:

You can find the items that belonged to the Pillars! So far I've got the Netitus, Meadowbrook's mask, and Starswirl's journal.
The Netitus gives you a small defense boost, and a major defense boost against fire attacks.
Meadowbrook's mask will slowly start to heal you faster and faster if you stand without moving, which is very helpful between enemy fights.
Starswirl's journal is one of the equipable book weapons that helps boost your skill power, but it's the best one yet!

So anyway, here's the major find I found:

Once you get access to the final dungeon, Luna will now have an optional boss rematch gauntlet mode you can do. You can pick from the first six bosses in a row, which should be very easy at this point in the game, or six of the castle bosses, which is much harder. You at least get to refill your HP and MP between bosses.

However, what I didn't expect was when you beat both sets of bosses, Luna comes to you with a request... she wants you to defeat one more boss- one of that last two bonus bosses I wanted to see so badly!
    And I love this fight!
    It is...

    SPOILERS:

    Spoiler

    tantabus.png

    The Tantabus!

Luna gives you the Lavender item, as equipping it is the only way to damage the boss.

The Tantabus can take on a number of different forms of other foes from the series, and switch out between them occassionally.

    stormking.png

The Storm King, using various lightning moves.

    tempest.png

Tempest! Using various fireworks moves, athletic kicks and dives, and kicking one of those obsidian orbs at you.

    sphinx.png

The Sphinx, using stone blocks with spikes and glowing hieroglyphs.

    maneiac.png

The Mane-iac. with very well detailed animation of her whip-like hair attacking you in many directions.

And one that I was real excited to see:

    ponyofshadowsvania.png

The Pony of Shadows! He uses various shadow energy and object attacks.

I personally loved seeing this. In fact, this ties into something I posted a couple of years ago: I said I knew who was going to be in the game, and that would be the Pony of Shadows! I was sharing to the creator of the game my love for it, and offhandedly said my dream boss would be him, and he said he was going to appear! This must be what that meant!

In fact, I think the Tantabus's fighting style and many forms is a good method of putting together disparate boss fights for a number of different foes in the show all in one package!

I honestly expected that since you can find the Pillars' artifacts, that collecting all six would open a new quest where you had to fight the Pony of Shadows. It didn't work out that way, but I'm glad I found this boss fight anyway!

Now, a comment on Derpibooru I found DID say who the last of the bonus bosses is... but I'm not saying a word.

  8. I posted in this thread a year ago with a very tepid approach, which is unchanged, but weirdly enough, I've had a very slowly building curiosity about it. I'm not 100% into it, but it does get me intrigued.

There's going to be like, 95% of things I'm not going to be comfortable with seeing myself doing, and to make it work well my ponyself would have a pretty shy attitude about whatever he/I am doing, but I could see it working.

But it's not something I've ever pursued.

Though incidentally, one of the things I said in that post was no one has ever drawn my ponyself. Well, there is one bit of art that has happened since then, and it might be the best sort of art, so to speak...

I got a plush of myself made! I just love him/me! It feels so good!

  9. Well a translucent color is always going to be different depending on the color that's behind it. Are you saying you want her hair color that's used without a background? And you intend to use that to put on top of other backgrounds? If so, I don't think there's one exact answer. The artist most likely used some sorts of blue and fiddled around with different levels of transparency (or alpha)

Do you want, like, the original hex number of the color, along with whatever transparency value is used? The best idea I can think of is to just guess and check. Maybe take the pink from that cloud in the bottom of page 69 and play with a translucent blue until you find a close enough match, I think.

Or maybe there's a mathematic way to figure it out, but I don't know of any.

    lunamane.png

EDIT: I tried to throw an example together real quick. The small square in the center is what you would be trying to match.  I took color 0093FE and put it against both white and that pink color, and I used four different levels of transparency (out of 255): 200, 150, 100, and 50. So either the transparency is less than that, or the base color is less than that. Aside from any calculation program of some sort which I don't know exists, experimenting might be the best way.

And BTW, Luna's translucent mane portion probably isn't even one single color, if you were looking for one single color.

  10. Here's a couple of characters who I know have a following!

    large.jpg

It's the two pegasus guards, some of the first characters shown in screenshots! Zoom is the blue one, and Thunder is the green one.

Incidentally, everyone thought they were both guys, but it turns out Zoom is a mare!

    full.png

Did you like them too? How about when the movie was released?

  11. Here's a topic I know has divided people on comments I've seen.

So... do you find Sprout to be awful, or do you feel bad for him?

I saw a picture recently where Sprout was the new host of the Pony of Shadows, and I was going to make a joking comment saying, "Don't do it, Sprout! You'll make me feel bad for you!" But I didn't, because some people really truly do sympathize with him.

See, with Stygian, I did feel bad for him because of the (wrongfully based) feeling he had of being spurned, and filled with spite from the despair, then succumbing to the temptation from darkness to be something more. But Sprout... well, he was just a bratty, childish ignoramus, all played for laughs, but nobody really treated him horribly during start of the movie, he just wanted to be at the top, though for me it just seemed a little more selfish than anything.  Not to mention his obvious  bigoted attitude toward other ponies doesn't help[.

It's reasons like this I wasn't too sympathetic toward Sprout, but a lot of people do feel that, it seems. A lot of art seems to want to play off this idea.

If you have sympathy for him, please do explain!
